Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is officially headed back to Apple TV+ as the streamer has confirmed that the second season has wrapped up production. A spin-off to the 2014 Godzilla film, Monarch Season 2 will once again follow Anna Sawai and members of the covert organization as they investigate the Titans. However, this time they will be in an exotic new location, the home of everyone's favorite gorilla kaiju from Kong: Skull Island.
Apple TV+ officially announced that filming on Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 has concluded, revealing a new image from the big-budget production. As with most Monarch-related incidents, a Titan has surely caused some mayhem in the second season of Legacy of Monsters. The latest reveal coincides with the initial production announcement from a few months ago, featuring a piece of Monarch technology presumably ravaged by monsters on Skull Island. It could be Kong's work, but as fans are well aware of,...

Not all anime heroes are created equal. Most of them have inherent powers that they develop over time. But others only gain their magical powers later in their lives. No matter how they receive their abilities, these anime characters had to go through some difficult trials (and traumas in some cases) to finally gain their magical powers.
To borrow a phrase from the Harry Potter franchise, the best anime characters who start out as Muggles but gain magical abilities later are some of the best characters, period. In a lot of cases, they have to work twice as hard to gain their powers, to go through something unspeakable. However, once they are on the other side, they are as powerful (if not more so) than any of the other magic users in their franchise. No matter their origins, these characters have proven themselves excellent magic users.

It's rare that any DC villain gives Darkseid a run for his money as a cosmic threat, but a former lackey of the evil god is doing exactly that in the pages of DC's Titans. While heavyweight villains like Eclipso and the Anti-Monitor have taken on Darkseid, the dark god's recent absence in the DC Universe has left a power vacuum - one that the Psycho Pirate is stepping into.
In a preview of Titans #21, the Titans roster tear each other apart, as Psycho Pirate's disturbing emotional-control powers turn friend against friend. However, the threat to the young heroes pales in comparison to Psycho Pirate's real plan -to steal the power of the mystic hero Raven.
The daughter of the satanic villain Trigon, Raven keeps her mystic potential tamped down in order to maintain her humanity. However, past stories have shown she has enough power to destroy the universe itself...

The MonsterVerse and the DC Universe are set to collide in a sequel that will once again see the Justice League face off against the biggest and baddest Titans. Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong rocked both worlds in 2023 and an upcoming follow-up promises a much more intense crossover.
This June, DC Comics and Legendary Comics are uniting for Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong 2, which will reunite the original miniseries’ Brian Buccellato and Christian Duce. In this new story, Amanda Waller utilizes Task Force X to help her develop hybrid Titans in order to ward off future attacks.
To stop Waller, the Justice League travels to the MonsterVerse’s Hollow Earth, where they once again discover monsters like Godzilla and Kong. This adventure not only promises to have much bigger stakes than its predecessor, but it will also feature ‘titanized’ versions of iconic DC Universe heroes and villains.

Plenty of shonen anime heroes like to act first and think later, with immature anime heroes like Goku and Luffy thinking with their fists, but not all anime leads are like that. For the sake of variety, and to give anime fans some clever surprises, certain anime heroes would rather treat a battle like a puzzle to solve. Those heroes need to think things through before they throw a punch, and some of them might even ask an ally to throw that punch instead.
Brainy anime heroes like these are sometimes famous for their resourceful and tactical thinking, or at least, it's a major part of how they operate. Often, those smart anime heroes have a role or occupation befitting their intelligence, since plain punches aren't enough to live up to those roles' expectations. Sometimes, these smart anime heroes serve as a much-needed foil for their himbo ally and round out the team nicely.

It’s always interesting to hear more about the creator of our favourite series, as every form of media is somewhere a reflection of the creator’s vision, ideas, and their life experiences. Attack on Titan is no different. Over the years, Hajime Isayama has shared the different aspects of his life that shaped his massively popular anime-manga series.
The beginning of Attack on Titan | Credits: Kodansha USA
Attack on Titan started its run in 2009, however, its idea was brewing in Isayama’s mind long before that. A childhood feeling shaped the key idea and setting of the series.
The feelings that shaped Attack on Titan
At the beginning, Attack on Titan was a simple story that pit humans with limited powers against Titans. These monstrous creatures with overwhelming strength gobbled up humans, putting an abrupt end to their lives. They barely had any thoughts behind their creepy expressions and smiles.

The MonsterVerse franchise has so far grossed over $2.5 billion at the worldwide box office since launching with Gareth Edwards' Godzilla in 2014. Jordan Vogt-Roberts took charge of Kong: Skull Island before Michael Dougherty expanded the Monsterverse with Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
We finally got a full-blown crossover in Adam Wingard's Godzilla vs. Kong. The filmmaker returned for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire but won't be back for the next chapter; instead, that will be helmed by I Am Mother director Grant Sputore.
The MonsterVerse has always been the subject of leaks and the latest, shared by High on Cinema (via SFFGazette.com), claims to spell out pretty much the entire plot of the Godzilla x Kong sequel.
What are the biggest reveals? Well, Godzilla looks set to take a villainous turn (again), we're getting "zombie" Titans and, as expected, more Mothra after her surprise appearance in The New Empire.

The world of Attack on Titan was constrained within the walls at the beginning. As the story progressed, it expanded at a rapid pace, becoming more complex and colossal with every development. Irrespective of how drastically the story changed, everything came together beautifully at the end.

While some parts were developed as the story progressed, others were already decided before the manga even began its serialization. One particular aspect of the story that completely changed the tonality was always a part of the initial plan, but what was it exactly?...

All Helldivers 2 players who love chaos will love this week’s Major Order as Super Earth is expecting players to annihilate many Automaton and Terminid units. As per the game’s lore, killing all these units will support the construction of a blockade around the Meridian Singularity. The probability of the community completing this Major Order is quite high as most Helldivers love killing enemies.

First launched in May 2020, HBO Max has emerged as one of the world's most-viewed streaming services, with nearly 100 million subscribers by the end of spring 2023. The service offers a unique collection of modern movies and television series and an expansive catalog of classic and international films. Fans can watch anything from contemporary hits like Dune: Part Two to milestone classics like 2001: A Space Odyssey.
However, HBO Max has been rebranded as Max due to the WarnerMedia merger with Discovery, Inc.. With a repertoire of over 2,000 movies, choice paralysis can lead to ample wasted time. Luckily, the streaming series always has a huge collection of outstanding movies to suit any mood or preference.
Updated by Jordan Iacobucci on March 3, 2025: Max remains one of the go-to streamers for the best selection of movies. Fans have titles spanning every genre they could want, from drama to fantasy to sci-fi and everything in between.

Fans of TV series often see Game of Thrones' "The Rains of Castamere" as the peak of dark, brutal deaths, with the Red Wedding delivering a shocking moment of bloody betrayal. The episode was so intense it launched the viral reaction video trend on social media. While it's hard to top such a nightmarish scene, many anime series have matched or even surpassed it with their own brutal deaths.
Anime rarely relies on shock value alone, much like the well-written Game of Thrones, but that doesn’t make its deaths any less gruesome. Heroes and villains alike meet their end in battle, assassination, or sudden murder—often with heavy emotional impact, raising the stakes for those left behind.

Fan theories are the soul of any fanbase, connecting the dots between the most unexpected worlds. One theory currently doing the rounds in the monster movie community suggests that The Meg – the 2018 action creature feature starring Jason Statham – could be connected to the MonsterVerse. Both The Meg and the MonsterVerse revolve around massive, prehistoric creatures that have remained hidden, waiting to make their presence known.
The theory relies on similarities between the two worlds. The Meg features a Megalodon lurking in the Mariana Trench, while the MonsterVerse revolves around massive Titans hidden for centuries. Fans suggest these creatures, once thought extinct, could share the same ecosystem, with the Megalodon potentially classified as a Titan. With Warner Bros owning both franchises, a crossover seems more possible than ever, hinting at a future where Godzilla and Kong face off against a shark bigger than anything they've ever battled.

After the mangaka, the editors are usually the most informed people about a popular manga series. Attack on Titan is no different in this regard, as the editor Shintaro Kawakubo played a huge role in shaping its narrative. He was the one person who suggested several changes to the story, keeping Hajime Isayama in check during the serialization of the manga.

Since his emergence in 1954, Godzilla has gotten into many fights. Sometimes, it was because of his instinct to destroy, and other times, it was because he wanted to establish himself as the apex predator on a planet riddled with kaiju. Whatever the reason, Godzilla remains a true force of nature, who stands as an allegory for man-made disasters even to this day.
Although Godzilla's fights have earned him the moniker of King of the Monsters, some of his bouts are simply out of the realm of logic and common sensibilities. And this is not confined to any one era. Godzilla movies often use the pretext of fun for artistic freedom, thus leaving behind a legacy of kaiju fights that make little sense.

Whether it’s fleshing out the characters or the ideas presented, Isayama does a phenomenal job at presenting the different sides of a seemingly simple situation, at least at first.

One of the MonsterVerse's greatest strengths is its legacy. Being able to draw upon the long history of the Godzilla and King Kong franchises for inspiration, the films are able to do more than impress general audiences with their spectacular special effects and action scenes. It's always a thrill for long-time fans when a familiar kaiju appears as a Titan, and the franchise isn't even close to having re-introduced them all.
The Godzilla franchise is filled with kaiju ready to become Titans in the MonsterVerse. Some would make effective allies for Kong, Mothra, and the King of the Monsters, while others are villains with the power to rival all three of them. These kaiju have superb design, unique powers, and could fill unique roles that others couldn't.
Godzilla Junior is a Highlight of the Heisei Series
The '90s Godzilla movies re-invented Godzilla's son, Minilla, as the far more impressive Godzilla Junior.

Revisiting The Kratos vs. Hulk Online Debate (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Remember when the internet couldn’t stop debating who would win in a fight between Kratos and the Hulk? Fans went absolutely wild, firing up discussions across social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter). The topic had everything: muscle, power, and unyielding fan loyalty. So, let’s break down this epic clash of titans.
It’s not hard to see why the question is so intriguing. On one side, we have Kratos, the God of War, a seasoned warrior with unmatched strength, tactical genius, and the ability to take down gods and titans alike. On the other, we have the Hulk, a literal powerhouse capable of smashing through mountains and becoming stronger the angrier he gets. Both are built like tanks, both have faced off against gods, and both are practically unstoppable. But that’s where the fun debate begins.

While it may not have received as much praise as some of Disney's other offerings when it was first released, Hercules remains a beloved part of the animation studio's pantheon. Some also appreciated the break from classic fairy tales since, unlike the studio's signature princess movies, Hercules took inspiration from Greek mythology instead. That said, the film's creative team made many changes when adapting the source material.
Greek mythology is among the most popular mythologies in the world, but as its fans well know, these stories often contain elements that aren't suitable for children. As such, it's not surprising that Disney altered several details in Hercules' story. Attack on Titan is one of the greatest anime of all time. It is perhaps the most celebrated modern-day shonen story but has also been the most controversial. Hajime Isayama ended his famous manga in 2021, which set off a storm in the anime community. A significant portion of the fandom was absolutely devastated and even disappointed by how Isayama decided to conclude his legendary story.
By the time the manga ended, the anime had become a global phenomenon, topping every chart and breaking every record. Therefore, it was natural for fans to assume that one of the most spectacular lore in anime history would cement its epic conclusion with a little more finesse or simply not the way it did. Although everyone is entitled to an opinion, it’s difficult not to agree that there were some pretty valid reasons for the fans to be dissatisfied with Attack on Titan’s ending.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End made waves as one of the highest-rated anime in the shonen genre. Besides being the anime of the year, the series had both readers and viewers hooked on it for several reasons.
In particular, the series is a gripping tale of love, loss, friendship, and camaraderie. And while it oscillates between beginnings and endings, it has a glaring similarity with Hajime Isayama’s series with its key aspect.

In retrospect, both series are different in their premise. While Attack on Titan exemplifies the dystopian nightmare, Natsu Hyuga’s series focuses on the elven mage’s journey. But there is a commonality in their representation of divisions.

We got confirmation late last year that a follow-up to Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire was officially in the works, with writer Dave Callaham enlisted to pen the script for the untitled movie.
Adam Wingard, who helmed The New Empire and previous MonsterVerse movie Godzilla vs. Kong, was originally set to return, but ultimately departed the project under "amicable" circumstances, with Grant Sputore stepping in to replace him shortly after.
Now, Deadline reports that the next MonsterVerse movie has founds its lead in Kaitlyn Dever.
We don't have any details on who she'll play, but the trade mentions that, while Kong and Godzilla will still be fronting the film, Legendary is looking to build on its human characters. The story will focus on "Godzilla and Kong as they face off against a cataclysmic world-ending threat."

It has been almost two years since Lance Reddick, our beloved Destiny 2 space daddy, passed away. Reddick was arguably one of the most versatile and skilled actors in Hollywood, and he tragically passed away in March of 2023. Most people know him as Charon in the John Wick franchise or Cedric from The Wire series.

Movies and TV are filled with memorable characters that just so happen to wear an eyepatch, with the relatively uncommon facial feature being a staple of media far and wide. Eyepatches are sometimes worn in place of artificial eyes by people who have lost the use of one eye, covering up their scars or lack of an eyeball with an intimidating accessory. Though they may have been more common in the past, eyepatches truly work in every TV or movie setting, with many incredible characters utilizing them.
As far as visual design language goes, an eyepatch usually indicates that a character is aged, hardened, and tough, having taken physical scars in combat or worse, giving them some degree of experience to rely upon. In other cases, the eyepatch is simply used to increase a character's intrigue or intimidation factor, usually doing so in few words. It's no wonder there are...

Attack on Titan has beautifully and tragically touched the hearts of fans. The hit series has exposed viewers to the most gruesome deaths that have traumatically devastated them, elevating the beauty and uniqueness of the series in terms of storytelling. From kids eating their mother to Titans devouring anything in front of them, Attack on Titan showcases some of the most unforgettable and heartbreaking moments ever seen in anime.
Each death is a reminder of the harsh realities of their world, making fans deeply empathize with the characters and their struggles. However, what makes the iconic series remarkably devastating is that it doesn’t shy away from portraying the brutal consequences of war and survival, leaving an emotional impact that not only lingers long after the series has ended but even the worst deaths that fans have witnessed in the history of anime.

Since Attack on Titan is so heavy on death, it seemed no character was safe from an untimely demise, and even the anime's voice actors were unsure who would survive to the end of the series. One voice actor was shocked to discover the character he played was never killed, because he did not expect him to make it until the story's conclusion.
Connie Springer's voice actor, Hiro Shimono, could not have been more surprised when his character, Connie, survived the war against the Titans and the Rumbling. He had prepared for the opposite to occur, so both the ending of the Attack on Titan anime and his character's final fate were definitely a shock to him.

Most of Attack on Titan's deaths are so heartbreaking and gruesome, it seems impossible to view them in any positive light. However, one voice actor from the series' anime adaptation surprisingly offered praise for her character's death scene and how it was portrayed.
Romi Park, the voice actor for Hange Zoë, commented that her character died in the most fitting way, despite the sorrowful nature of the scene itself and the tragic reactions from fellow characters. Hange's death is certainly one of Attack on Titan's most dramatic, but it is also the perfect culmination of the 14th Commander's character arc.

Attack on Titan has earned a reputation as one of the most depressing shonen animes, and rightfully so, because pivotal characters die at every turn. In a ruthless world where everyone is forced to fight for survival against man-eating Titans, few soldiers make it until the end, making death an unavoidable theme in the series.
Over 1 billion people died in Attack on Titan, many during the Rumbling, but a handful of deaths stand out as particularly gruesome and tear-jerking, sticking in fans' minds years after the manga's conclusion. These eight Attack on Titan deaths are unforgettably tragic, highlighting the fact that some of the series' best characters were killed way before their time.

The Batman franchise has seen its fair share of adaptations over the years. The Dark Knight has appeared on-screen in movies, TV shows, and numerous animated depictions. Every depiction captured a wide range of genres. There was the action hero Ben Affleck from Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), the mystery lead Robert Pattinson from The Batman (2022), and the comedian Will Arnett from The Lego Batman (2017). All of those clashing portrayals came within six years of each other, and each revealed a different side of Gotham's determined protector.
The Batman movies and shows did not begin with the DC Extended Universe, of course. The character was first adapted from the comics in a radio drama in 1945, but he has since debuted in a variety of other mediums. In animation, he has been portrayed by Olan Soule (The Adventures of Batman), Kevin Conroy (Batman Beyond), Diedrich Bader (Batman: The Brave and the Bold...

Shōnen anime is home to some of the greatest shows in the history of the art form. Covering a wide variety of series, iconic characters like Goku and Luffy have inspired and influenced generations of fans and creators, defining what a shōnen protagonist should be. However, just because a series is massively popular or successful doesn't mean that it's flawless. If shōnen anime has ever struggled with one thing throughout its long history, it's with ending its stories.
Anime endings will forever be a point of contention within the wider anime-watching community. Countless series have generated immense popularity, only to hobble their way to the finish line while a deeply disappointed audience watches on. The number of bad endings far outweigh the good, and for that, the best of the best should be celebrated for their accomplishments. The Teen Titans have many beloved heroes in their ranks, but there's one hero who stands out as the team's most valuable asset. Some might assume that Starfire is the strongest Titan, and though she's certainly formidable in her own right, Raven is without question the greatest source of power in the roster. She isn't just an asset in terms of what she contributes in battle, either; Raven's abilities can help her teammates just as much as they can harm opponents.
Many of the Teen Titans got their start in DC lore as sidekicks of more prominent superheroes. For instance, Dick Grayson founded the team as Robin long before he became Nightwing, and Wally West joined as the Kid Flash to Barry Allen's Flash. Raven, however, stands out as a hero in her own right. The daughter of Trigon has incredible magic at her disposal that proves she's the best Titan around,...

A Monsterverse blockbuster has found renewed success on Netflix's global streaming charts, following its massive $572 million box office success. The Monsterverse movies have been major successes at the box office since 2014's Godzilla was released, with the universe bringing together the world of Toho's famous kaiju with that of King Kong. The franchise has had five movies to date, all focusing on massive Titans fighting one another, with the fate of humanity constantly in the balance. The tone has also shifted throughout, with some entries that are serious, and others that are more focused on fun.
The franchise is also no stranger to streaming, with Apple TV+ currently producing Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2, following season 1's success in 2023. Netflix themselves distributed the animated series Skull Island, which follows a group of characters becoming stranded on Kong's homeland, forced to fight for survival. Warning: Contains Potential Spoilers for Titans #18!
DC’s All In initiative has brought major changes to the DC Universe, including the revival of the Justice League with a drastically expanded roster that now includes every hero on Earth, rather than the select elite it has traditionally featured. This bold decision has sparked mixed reactions from fans, with some less than thrilled by the idea—and it seems even some of the Titans aren’t entirely on board with the Justice League’s controversial new direction.
Such actions would not only damage the League’s reputation but also highlight a dangerously simplistic and punitive approach to justice.

At the beginning of Attack on Titan, the storyline was much simpler and the primary source of thrill was the Titans. From their physical structure to their eccentric expressions, Hajime Isayama did an exceptional job of establishing the menace of the Titans. While they were not scary in a conventional sense, the absence of any thoughts and insatiable desire to devour humans left no room for mercy.

Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable brings the engaging and intense franchise into virtual reality with a game filled with Odm-fueled highs and just as many Titan-crushing lows. Certain Attack on Titan fan games have done a great job of recapturing the fast-paced movement and combat featured in the series, but they all fail compared to the immersion and movement the franchise's first VR game achieves.

From the first season to the last, one thing that was constantly exciting in Attack on Titan was the fight sequences. Hajime Isayama’s illustrations of the fights in the series were dynamic and easy to understand. The hand-to-hand combat between the Titans or the swift movements of the Survey Corps were thrilling to follow. Isayama incorporated different aspects of Mixed martial arts as inspiration for these fights.

Paradis Island in Attack on Titan was home to many tragic events and lives. Those who called the island their home lived in fear of the Titans and the day those monstrous beings might breach the walls to destroy thousands of lives. This impending danger constrained the Eldians greatly by confining them within the walls, making young children like Eren and Armin become obsessed with the idea of freedom.

While we explored Eren’s life in great detail and it was undeniably tragic, Levi Ackerman also led a difficult life, but his conclusion was truly satisfying. Levi was a fan-favorite character and an exceptional fighter. He could single-handedly take on numerous Titans, even the special ones like the Beast Titan. However, one aspect of his character doesn’t get as much attention as his coolness or his overall appeal: the glorious character arc.
