When studio executives on blockbuster films are looking to make a splash with a star-studded soundtrack to help meet the moment, one of the first calls they’re making these days is likely to Kevin Weaver.
Weaver, the west coast president at Atlantic Records, is on a roll, having co-produced the soundtracks for Barbie in 2023 and Twisters last year, the former of which won the Grammy for best compilation soundtrack for visual media and spawned several hit singles, while the latter’s already been certified gold and, per Weaver, is nearing platinum status.
Now he’s looking to go three-for-three with F1, which hits theaters Friday and is looking to do laps around the competition at the box office this weekend, while F1 the Album officially hit streaming services today as well. Zimmer composed the music for the film, and his score album released Friday as well.

There was a period in the late Nineties and early aughts when every blockbuster movie was seemingly accompanied by an equally-popular soundtrack, with the songs and A-list artists almost as inescapable as the action on screen. From Titanic and Twilight to The Fast & The Furious, the songs released from the hit movies often ended up becoming hits themselves, propelling both the artists and the films to even bigger heights.

Atlanta’s exiled rap king has returned to the live stage. BTS’ J-Hope is back with another new single, “Killin’ It Girl,” featuring a guest verse from Memphis rapper GloRilla.
Produced by Cirkut, Inverness, and Blake Slatkin the track starts off with a spare but propulsive beat that eventually opens up on the chorus with big pop synths. J-Hope delivers a verse filled with dumbstruck devotion — “Looking like a twenty from Korea to Miami/Oh, I wanna get with you in the worst way” — while GloRilla breezes through self-assured bars like, “Murder for hire, Mike Glo Myers/Keep my foot up...

Angelenos were treated to a rare performance from Justin Bieber, as the two-time Grammy winner took the stage at Sza and Kendrick Lamar’s Grand National Tour yesterday. In its second night at Sofi Stadium in Inglewood, the “Peaches” singer surprised audiences as he and the One of Them Days star duetted “Snooze,” off of the latter’s Sos album.
The duo effortlessly played off one another as they took turns singing the chorus of the sleeper hit toxic love-themed track, dancing and vibing as Sza threw out an effortless falsetto. The five-time Grammy-winning “Consideration” singer was seen cupping Bieber’s chin, as he then kissed her palm and hand, eventually twirling around as they moved across the stage. As the crowd continued going wild, the two wrapped up the brief performance before disappearing underneath the stage.

The spectacle of Formula 1 does not exist without the noise: the sound of rubber zipping over the track at 200 mph, the clatter of gravel as a car skids over a corner, the collective gasp of a crowd as a chassis crumples into a barrier — or another car — at unfathomable speed, and the pop of a champagne cork over a trophy.

Ryan Coogler‘s “Sinners” is much more than a bloody showdown featuring vampires. The supernatural thriller is anchored in music, specifically the blues.
In the film, in theaters now, Michael B. Jordan plays Smoke and Stack, twin brothers who return to their hometown in the 1930s Mississippi Delta, seeking a fresh start. Miles Caton plays their young cousin Sammie, a sharecropper and the pastor’s son, who has a deep connection to music. He dreams of becoming a blues musician, so the twins recruit him to perform at their new juke joint. There, his preternatural musical ability sets off a chain of supernatural events.
To craft the music for “Sinners,” which became a character of its own within the film, Coogler called on his go-to collaborator, composer Ludwig Göransson. Göransson, who also serves as an executive producer, began sending Coogler songs early on in the development process.

Ludwig Göransson’s original soundtrack for “Sinners,” Ryan Coogler’s latest film, will feature collaborations with artists like Brittany Howard, Rod Wave, Raphael Saadiq, James Blake, Cedric Burnside, Rhiannon Giddens, Don Toliver and Lola Kirke.
The soundtrack, along with Göransson’s original score, will be released by Sony Classical and Sony Masterworks April 18.
The highly-anticipated horror thriller is based on an original script by Coogler, with the project set in the 1930s Jim Crow era-South with Michael B. Jordan playing twin brothers.
Göransson executive-produced the soundtrack with Serena Göransson and Coogler. The lead single by Wave called “Sinners” has already been released, along with a music video.
For the score, Göransson drew from blues music. “The score I composed for ‘Sinners’ is the most personal of my career. It’s a reflection of my own musical journey, told through the voice of the instrument that means the most to me.

Last week, Anitta announced she was stepping away from this year’s Coachella over “unexpected personal reasons.” With her departure, the Brazilian star leaves a second-liner Coachella slot vacant for a possible Latin artist to fill.
Over the last several years, Coachella has done an excellent job of highlighting Latin music at the festival overall, including on the main stage — Becky G, Peso Pluma, Grupo Firme, and J Balvin come to mind.
And this year is no exception: Música mexicana stars Junior H and Iván Cornejo each take on similar billing to Anitta’s slot.

New music drops every Friday. Here are some of the noteworthy awards contenders that debuted on or around March 21, 2025.
Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, I Said I Love You First
Real-life lovebirds Gomez and Blanco have joined forces on their first collaborative album, though the initial reviews are somewhat mixed. Martina Rebecca Inchingolo (Associated Press) writes that the artists "avoid cliché" on an "amusing pop album." And Robin Murray (Clash) calls it "a moving document of a relationship." But Alexis Petridis (The Guardian) thinks the music is "strangely anonymous for such a personal project." Still, the romantic narrative behind the couple's literal labor of love is compelling, and though Gomez has a limited Grammy track record — just one nom as a lead artist, Best Latin Pop Album for Revelación — Blanco has been a perennial nominee. As a producer, he has earned Album of the Year bids for Katy Perry's Teenage Dream,...

“Rump Punch,” an early single from the Bronx drill Casanova Cash Cobain’s new album Play Cash Cobain, rides a glittering piano riff layered over the rapper-producer’s signature drums—boisterous and staggered, the air in between each drop packed with a sly romantic tension. Cash is a blueprint for a new kind of rap-r&b crossover. Lyrically, he’s able to turn top-tier raunchiness into something smoother (Pussy taste like rum punch,” he cooly raps on the track), all while he builds out a sonic universe that’s taking the rap world by storm.
