By a simple twist of fate, Mrdakovic was born and lived next door to one of the richest film archives in the world, The Yugoslav Film Archive in Belgrade, Serbia. At an early age, this place enchanted him into watching thousands of films from the entire cinema history.

After graduating Belgrade University in Architecture Mrdakovic went on to work in film industry. Since then he worked in all aspects of movie production and eventually he wrote and directed his first feature film Mamarosh (2013). The film had a world premier at the 35th Moscow International Film Festival in the main competition and after that went to many other festivals where it received numerous awards.

Prior to this Mrdakovic co-wrote screenplay It's Me, Eddie / It's Me The Hero that won the Hartley Merrill Screenwriting Competition Award. This award was given in collaboration with The Screen Writers Guild Of America, Los Angeles, California. This screenplay was based on the novel by Russian writer Eduard Limonov.

As a second unit director and art director Mrdakovic worked on Emir Kusturica 's Underground (1995), which won Palme d'Or at the Cannes International Film Festival. Internationally he also worked on projects like: Project Millennium, very ambitious television special produced by George Lucas but never finished, Simon Brook's Minus One (1991), shown on Sundance Film Festival, Jim Jarmusch's Coffee and Cigarettes (2003), shown on Venice International Film Festival.

Mrdakovic also worked on many Serbian films including Goran Markovic's Nacionalna klasa, Mica Milosevic's Laf u srcu, Moljac, Berlin Kaputt, Tesna koza, Drugarcine, Zivko Nikolic's Cudo nevidjeno, Lepota poroka, Veljko Bulajic's Veliki transport, Jovan Jovanovic's Pejsazi u magli, Gordana Boskov's U zatvoru, Sta je sa tobom Nina, Stanko Crnobrnja's Magic Snowman , Svetozar Prelic's Secerna vodica, Zoran Calic's Cao inspektore, Stole Popov's Srecna Nova 1949, Zoran Amar's Smeker and many others.
