Update, with venue, dates: Producers Bill Damaschke, Seaview, Sonia Friedman, and Kristin Chenoweth announced that The Queen of Versailles will play this fall at the St. James Theatre, beginning performances on October 8, with an official press opening on Monday, November 10.

This project reunites Chenoweth with songwriter Stephen Schwartz on Broadway for the first time since Wicked premiered in 2003. Prior to arriving on Broadway, The Queen of Versailles had a box office record-breaking world premiere at Boston’s Emerson Colonial Theatre in the summer of 2024.

“I’m beyond excited to return to Broadway and also make my Broadway producing debut with this incredible company,” said Kristin Chenoweth. “Stephen is a once in a generation songwriter and I’m so lucky we are able to reunite for this original musical, under the direction of the iconic Michael Arden to bring Lindsey Ferrentino’s captivating story to life.”

The Queen of Versailles, a new musical based on TV personality Jacqueline “Jackie” Siegel, is scheduled to come to Broadway in the 2025-2026 season.

The musical, which features a score by Stephen Schwartz, is currently playing an engagement in Boston’s Emerson Colonial Theatre, with Wicked star Kristin Chenoweth as Siegel and The White Lotus’s F. Murray Abraham as her husband, David. The musical is set to open in Boston on Aug. 1, before opening Aug. 25 and then later heading to Broadway.

“The entire Queen of Versailles company is having an incredible time building this new original American musical with the gracious and arts-loving audiences in Boston,” said producers Bill Damaschke, Seaview and Chenoweth’s Diva Worldwide Entertainment. “We look forward to the journey ahead and bringing this story to Broadway in the 2025-26 season.”

Exact dates, theater and casting for Broadway have not yet been announced.

After a health issue sent her to the hospital and led her to drop out of a Broadway revival of Doubt: A Parable, Tyne Daly is on the rebound. “On behalf of the cast and crew of Doubt, and the entire Roundabout [Theatre Company] family, we are elated that Tyne is on the mend and on her way to a full recovery,” Scott Ellis, director of the production and Roundabout’s interim artistic director, told People on Friday. Daly was slated to play Sister Aloysius in this production of the John Patrick Shanley play, but an undisclosed health issue resulted in her hospitalization on February 2, according to People. The 77-year-old “did her invited dress [rehearsal] performance and then was hospitalized” a source told the magazine. That day’s preview performance was canceled, and Isabel Keating temporarily filled Daly’s part for the preview the following day, as Roundabout said in a press release...

Winter had a chilling effect on Broadway last week, with most shows reporting at least some downturn at the box office and overall receipts dropping nearly 10% from the previous week.

In all, box office for the 24 productions totaled $21,192,251 for the week ending February 11, with attendance of 187,573 down about 12% from the previous week.

Only a half-dozen shows bucked the downward trend, most notably Sweeney Todd, which on February 9 welcomed Aaron Tveit and Sutton Foster as the permanent replacements for Josh Groban and Annaleigh Ashford (understudies had been filling in since the originals departed January 14). Grosses for the Sondheim revival were up $402,763 for a $1,260,185 total.

Amy Ryan will take over Tyne Daly’s role in Doubt: A Parable on Broadway after the star was unexpectedly hospitalized.

Ryan, a two-time Tony Award nominee for her performances in A Streetcar Named Desire and Uncle Vanya, will play Sister Aloysius opposite Liev Schreiber as starting Feb. 13. Isabel Keating, the understudy for the role, will continue to play the role for performances through Feb. 11.

This past weekend, Spider-man Turn Off The Dark hosted a special Mother's Day themed Everyday Hero, this time honoring Cathy Fritea, a mother who lost her first-born son. Out of her grief, she started the Angels Fund charity, which helps comfort grieving parents who have lost a child. At Sunday’s matinee performance of “Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark,” there was, as cast member Rafael DeMussa put it, “Sand-ticipation” in the air. Michael Mulheren, the actor who plays the surly editor-in-chief at the fictional Daily Bulge, took a chance. Instead of shaking a prop paper and demanding to know who this Spider-Man feller was, he went with, “What is this headline? ‘Hurricane Sandy Rocks New York’? Who is this Sandy?”

“The audience loved being in on the joke,” “Spider-Man” actress Isabel Keating told The Huffington Post, speaking by cell phone from her Upper West Side apartment on Monday. Outside, Hurricane Sandy was in fact rocking New York, while Keating watched from her window. “The fact that we’re in this huge theater, and yet everybody felt we’re in on something. It’s that Cro-Magnon thing.

Hollywoodnews.com: Finally, some good news on the “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” front.

Christopher Tierney, the performer who plunged nearly 30-feet during a production of the show earlier this month, has exited the Intensive Care Unit. Tierney suffered a skull fracture, cracked vertebrae and four broken ribs, according to reports.

Isabel Keating, a “Spider-Man” cast member, told CBS News that Tierney “has his enormous spirit pouring out of him. I haven’t seen him. But I hear that he’s doing great and he’s walking.”

As was reported, Tuerney hopes to return to the show once he’s physically able.

He won’t find Natalie Mendoza there. The Broadway actress quit the show recently after suffering a concussion. The show’s high-flying stunts have raised safety issues with the cast and crew, though director Julie Taymor has been working behind the scenes to correct...

If you thought Anne Hathaway was brave for singing and dancing with Hugh Jackman on the recent Oscarcast, that was a walk in the park compared with her next performance — playing Judy Garland on both stage and screen. The Oscar-nominated actress ("Rachel Getting Married") is to star in upcoming film and legit adaptations of Gerald Clarke's 2000 biography "Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland."

With the Weinstein Co. producing both these properties, Anne Hathaway is in good hands. While there is no word as to any of the other creatives involved in these projects, the source material is rich with possibilities, including as it does material in Judy Garland's own words. Gerald Clarke's biography of the late, great writer Truman Capote was the basis for "Capote," which was nominated for five awards at the 2005 Oscars including best picture and won lead actor for Philip Seymour Hoffman.
