While Andor ended its superb run, it's not a perfect show (though it nearly is). Because of the Season 2 structure, where they squished what would have been four seasons into one, some characters got their stories shortened. One was Perrin Fertha, Mon Mothma's supposedly deadbeat husband. I had suspected that he had more going for him, but it wasn't revealed in the show. Turns out, I was right!
Writer Tom Bissell revealed a cut scene for Perrin that would have changed Mon's story: He knew about her rebel activity the entire time and protected her. Bissell said, "That was gonna be an interesting moment. Tony Gilroy performed it — Perrin just saying, 'I knew what you were up to. This whole time. They talked to me. Every week, they'd interrogate me. I never said a word. You didn't trust me. You could've trusted me.' And the heartbreak she would feel in that moment,...

John Wick director Chad Stahelski has found his next revenge action movie in the form of Sifu, the upcoming adaptation of the hit video game from Slocap. This comes after three years since the original beat 'em up game was first released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Windows.
Per Deadline, Stahelski has officially signed on to produce the Sifu movie under his production banner 87Eleven Entertainment. The stuntman-turned-filmmaker is best known for directing all four movies of the Keanu Reeves-led action thriller franchise, including 2023’s John Wick: Chapter 4. Stahelski is no stranger to video game adaptations, after previously serving as a second-unit director in 2015’s Hitman: Agent 47 movie. Besides Sifu, he is also currently attached to helm and produce Sony Pictures’ Ghost of Tsushima movie, based on the 2020 action-adventure game from Sucker Punch Productions.

Secret Level creator Tim Miller confirmed Season 2 will feature more fan-favorite video games. That's just the tip of the iceberg; they have a long list of IPs begging to be adapted.
Tim Miller admitted Season 1 merely scratched the surface of Secret Level's potential. Fan-favorite video game IPs like Warhammer 40k, Mega Man, and Dungeons & Dragons were featured, but Miller has plenty more games on his wish list. "We could get ten seasons out of it," he told The Direct. "And that's just all games that we generally--it's not like you're scraping the barrel. It's just games that you'd really love to see." Season 1 did throw curveballs like the weird Pac-Man episode; Miller said they could also flip the script with other properties.

Secret Level faced major hurdles in getting video game companies on board the project. Game developers are now more keen on entrusting their IPs after Season 1's breakout success.
Secret Level creator Tim Miller addressed fan backlash over the anthology's featured IPs. Season 1 only had 15 episodes, so it's a given some fans will not see their favorite video games adapted. Outside of budget constraints, Miller revealed that many of the video companies they approached didn't want to lend their properties, or they were hesitant at the very least. "I get a little chafed when I read online, and they're like, 'Hold on, these a**holes took Spelunky when they could have taken Halo?' Or something like that," he told Collider. "I'm like, 'Man, you think that we didn't talk to Halo or something?'" He confirmed that Season 1 originally had 18 episodes slated, but "there were some that fell out...

The creators of Prime Video's Secret Level anthology series recently discussed how they were able to get Keanu Reeves to take part in an episode. Reeves proved to be dedicated to his role, despite significant challenges in the shooting.

Each episode contains a story set in the worlds of different video games, including Dungeons & Dragons, Unreal Tournament and Honor of Kings. Speaking to Collider, the show's creator, Tim Miller, and executive producer Dave Wilson spoke about what it was like getting Keanu Reeves to sign on for Secret Level's Armored Core episode.

Secret Level could serve as proof of concept for movie or TV adaptations of Mega Man, Warhammer, and Armored Core. The latter would be even more appealing if Keanu Reeves reprised his role.
Armored Core fans were in for a special treat with Secret Level's 13th episode; Keanu Reeves channeled both Johnny Mnemonic and Neo in "Armored Core: Asset Management", a 14-minute animated short about a mech pilot with questionable motivations. Staging fast-paced mech fights against the backdrop of a dystopian, alien world, the episode was also defined by Reeves' hyperreal semblance and his stoic, John Wick voice. Speaking to The Wrap, executive producer Dave Wilson said he thought Reeves would exit the project at one point; the actor was then scheduled for motion capture at the studio.

Secret Level broadened the lore of the video games featured in its adaptations. Its lineup included a Concord episode, which offered a glimpse of the Sony IP's unrealized potential.
Secret Level creator Tim Miller said they never considered shelving the Concord episode. In an interview with The Wrap, he asserted the show was meant to transcend any controversy surrounding the video game IPs they featured. "I just wish everybody would realize that it's a bunch of artists and good people trying to make something interesting," he explained. "Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and people tend to make it some kind of personal quest, or feel like it's an affront to them personally. But they're just artists trying to do a great job, and they're super nice, and I'm sorry to see anybody fail and that that, I think it's not quite worthy of some of the toxicity around it.

Secret Level is a love letter to generations of video game enthusiasts. Series creator Tim Miller said their first big challenge was finding game companies who were up for the task.
Secret Level set out to feature as many game IPs as possible, which meant securing permission from the companies who owned them. Series creator Tim Miller said that was easier said than done. "These guys are all competitors mostly, so we have to get them all on the same train, going in the same direction," he told The Wrap. Fortunately, Miller's visual effects company Blur Studio is a key player in the video game industry; they remade cutscenes for Halo: The Master Chief Collection and developed cinematic trailers for three Batman: Arkham titles, among others.

Video game adaptations are slowly becoming the next big thing, following the success of Fallout, Arcane, and The Last of Us. But those shows only adapt a single video game. Prime Video's Secret Level says that's not enough. Like your little cousin accidentally spending $1000 on loot boxes, Secret Level is trying to collect everything. The animated anthology features 15 episodes telling new original stories from some of the most popular modern video games (and Concord). But the side-quest to get all the video game developers to agree to appear in the series was a hardcore game mode in itself.
"We wanted to represent the broad spectrum of gaming, from indie, nostalgia titles to Triple A blockbusters, but also past, present and future games, horror games, science fiction, fantasy," said executive producer Dave Wilson during an interview with The Wrap. Secret Level continued the Love, Death & Robots anthology formula, this time bringing popular video game franchises to life on the small screen. Games like Pac-Man, Mega Man, Sifu, Armored Core, Dungeons & Dragons, and many more were turned into excellent animated short films. But, there were two major titles that were unveiled in the anthology's first teaser trailer, and fans couldn't wait for their special episode. The second cour of episodes included a special PlayStation story, including many beloved characters. Among them were Kratos from God of War, and Jin from Ghost of Tsushima. However, fans agree that both characters were completely wasted.
God of War and Ghost of Tsushima both feature incredibly rich stories. Unfortunately, Secret Level reduced the two protagonists to nothing more than a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo. It didn't take long for fans took to social media to share their frustration about the episode. One post by @KaptainKuba blew up on X.

If you’re anything like us, then you love video games. You love it even more when those games are successfully adapted into movies and TV shows, as the case has been lately with such hits as The Last of Us, Fallout, and Twisted Metal. Now we can add another series to that list, as the animated show Secret Level has managed to be a smash with viewers thus far, catapulting it to the top of the charts.
Premiering on Prime Video on Dec. 10, Secret Level is now the number one show on the streaming service ahead of other recent debuts, including Pop Culture Jeopardy, Cross, The Sticky, and the reboot of Cruel Intentions. It’s no surprise really, especially when you consider who are all involved in the project. Secret Level features the voice talents of heavy hitters like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Kevin Hart, Laura Bailey, and Keanu Reeves.

Prime Video has revealed the release date and episode list for the remaining episodes in Secret Level Season 1. The aims of the animated anthology Secret Level, whose 15 shorts are based on video and tabletop games, are clear enough: As production company Blur Studio puts it on their website, “Secret Level is our love letter to gaming.” But despite the tangible earnestness of that claim, the series fails to shake off the cynicism of its commercial function and blinkered politics. Beneath flashes of beauty and fits of inspiration lies an elaborate branding exercise.
Secret Level features a handful of shorts that conjure impressive moods. The bleak industrial landscapes in “Armored Core: Asset Management” all but subsume the episode’s protagonist (Keanu Reeves)—and the formidable mech he pilots—conveying the extent of his alienation and the stakes of his mission; the economical “Warhammer 40,000: And They Shall Know No Fear” spares us unnecessary dialogue, setting its space marines loose with sweltering kineticism; and the martial arts revenge tale of...

The most controversial film of 2024 has already been released and is attracting criticism from all sides. Written and directed by the visionary filmmaker Alex Garland (Ex Machina), Civil War has proven to be a massive hit for the A24. Civil War has everything you need including striking visuals, a gripping story, and complex characters. While there are people from both sides of the political aisle criticizing the film for not picking a side, I think that Garland did a wonderful job at showing us a broken America without blaming any political party for it.
Civil War is set in a dystopian future America suffering from a civil war as a team of military-embedded journalists race against time to get to Washington D.C. to interview the President before rebel factions take over the White House and kill the President.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Civil War.A24's film Civil War had several jaw-dropping moments, but one of the most intense contained a startling question for the protagonists from Jesse Plemons' character: "What kind of American are you?" Civil War chronicles the story of a divided America that is torn between a series of secessionist movements and an authoritarian government. As a group of journalists attempts to cross state lines to interview the president about the ongoing war, they find danger at every turn as each stop holds new enemies who have their own ideas about who they consider a "true American."
The film was directed and written by Alex Garland, who also directed the 2014 film Ex Machina and the 2018 film Annihilation. Civil War hit theaters in April 2024 by A24 and achieved critical success, grossing a $25.7 million box office on its opening weekend and $122.6 million worldwide, becoming A24's second highest-grossing movie.

Spoilers for "Civil War" follow.
Alex Garland's "Civil War" was a box office hit, but it was also one of the most polarizing movies of the year. Some folks praised the movie (you can read our positive review right here), while others seemed perturbed and even downright annoyed by it. Garland's script deliberately remains neutral about the fictional civil war that engulfs the film, primarily because the film's main characters — a gaggle of war correspondents — also remain neutral. They don't take sides; they just want to get the story. In my humble opinion, this is a feature, not a bug, but I can also completely understand why it bothers some folks.
All that said, even those who don't care for the film seem to agree there's one scene that serves as a standout moment. Midway through the picture, the main characters are captured by two soldiers. One of those...

Blade: The Series aired on Spike TV in 2006, continuing the stories from the characters' previous trilogy of films - and almost two decades later, it can be watched for free. Starring Kirk "Sticky Fingaz" Jones, the Marvel series only lasted for a single season before being canceled. Diving deeply into who Blade is, the series was the first original, scripted drama on the network and continued the brutal and violent war against vampires from the films. As per IndieWire, Garland has cleared the air surrounding his recent retirement remarks. Check out Garland’s statement below:
“What I said is I’m going to take a break from directing for the foreseeable future. How that could get extrapolated as what pride I do or do not feel in this movie. I just don’t see the connecting thread. I said I’m going to stop directing for the foreseeable future. Why would a statement like that be taken and picked over or interpreted to that degree?...

Nick Offerman plays the Potus in the dystopian action film Civil War, but although some liken his character to Donald Trump, the actor didn’t think about him during filming.
“Honestly, no,” Offerman told Deadline during the film’s premiere. “When you see the movie, it’s so unattached to anything in modern politics, not only in our country but any country. It’s like doing a play where I’m playing a baseball player, and people say, ‘Did you ever think of your favorite team, the Cubs?’ And I say, ‘No, it’s a brilliant piece of fiction.'”
He continued, “From the get-go, it clearly wasn’t based on anything in reality, and so, that’s a distraction, and my job is to immediately say, ‘Who is this guy? And how can I best serve Alex [Garland’s] vision.'”

Fans were disappointed with the lackluster reunion between Hera and Ezra in the season finale of Ahsoka, which consisted of a simple exchange of greetings. The reunion was overshadowed by other plot points and lacked the emotional depth that many fans expected. Fan art by @ali_mart_co depicts a more satisfying reunion between the two characters, highlighting the missed opportunity in the actual episode.
Warning! The following contains Spoilers for Ahsoka: Part Eight — The Jedi, the Witch, and the Warlord.
Why didn’t Hera and Ezra embrace when they were reunited? For all the inspirational moments and fan service provided by Dave Filoni in season one of Ahsoka, the show’s creator let, at the very least, one pivotal moment get away near the conclusion of Ahsoka: Part Eight — The Jedi, the Witch, and the Warlord: Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi) returning home and seeing his friend Hera Syndulla...

Senator Xiono's son, Kaz, appears in Star Wars Resistance and may have political clout due to his father's position, while Senator Xiono himself may have collaborated with the First Order.

Time flies when you're having fun, and so does Ahsoka's third episode, "Time to Fly." The whole episode is almost like a feature-length dogfight with sprinkles of Jedi training, but there's still time for some good old Star Wars politics. While Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) are closing in on the Denab system, General Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) is facing the political end of the issue in a meeting with Chancellor Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly) and a host of New Republic Senators, one of which seems particularly determined to give Hera a hard time: Senator Hamato Xiono (Nelson Lee).

On top of being a live-action Rebels Season 5 and semi-heir to the Empire retelling, Ahsoka wants to position itself as another link between Star Wars' original series and the sequel trilogy -- a way to explore how the New Republic's filings blinded them to Imperial schemes under their watch and laid the groundwork for the First Order's rise, presumably aided in part by Grand Admiral Thrawn's return. Of course, that new war is at least a decade away, and, at just over half an hour, "Part Three: Time to Fly" struggles to convey all this detail in a neat package. But it makes up for that with some classic Star Wars dogfighting and the return of many familiar faces.
As a B-plot, the New Republic scenes only make up a fraction of "Time to Fly," but these conversations remain deliberately unnerving. Hera, now convinced that Thrawn is still alive,...

This Star Wars: Ahsoka article contains spoilers.
So much of Ahsoka‘s third episode feels like classic Star Wars, from Sabine’s blind training nodding back to A New Hope to the space battle that combines elements from both the Original and Prequel Trilogies for one of the best dogfights ever made for Disney+. But that doesn’t mean Ahsoka has skipped out on bringing back a bunch of stuff from Rebels this time around. In fact, one major cameo allows this Disney+ series to pick up exactly where its animated predecessor left off.
Here are all the Star Wars easter eggs and callbacks we spotted in “Time to Fly”:
Evan Whitten as Jacen Syndulla
There was never any doubt that Jacen Syndulla would pop up in Ahsoka, but we definitely didn’t expect to see this little dude so soon. Introduced in the final minutes of the Rebels...

Star Wars Celebration 2023 has so far been especially exciting for fans of the animated side of the universe. "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" and "Star Wars Rebels" creator Dave Filoni was revealed to be directing a live-action "Star Wars" movie, set between the events of "Return of the Jedi" and "The Force Awakens." And while the film is still in early development, Filoni also brought a brand new trailer for his upcoming live-action series "Ahsoka," which will continue the storyline of "Star Wars Rebels."
When animated properties in the "Star Wars" universe make a jump into live-action, it tends to make big waves. Sometimes, though, those ripples into live-action can be a lot more subtle. When a show based on a character like Ahsoka Tano comes out, it's no surprise that we'll be seeing animated characters from her past adventures. The follow-up to the critically-acclaimed sloth-horror-comedy-comic is finally here.
Welcome to Slow Pokes 2: The Sloth-Horror-Sequel of The Summer!
From the screwed up mind of Steve Urena comes a new 24-page Slow Pokes story filled with more action, more laughs, and spine tingling scares from these slaughterous, sped up, sloths. Drawn and colored by Juan Romera with Letters by Sean Rinehart, Slow Pokes 2 will take you on another fun horror thrill ride.
" I can't wait to show fans of Slow Pokes what I have in store for them in the second issue,” says Urena.
“I thought Slow Pokes was the craziest thing I've ever done, but #2 tops it. The fact that I got to kill ten people who supported the Kickstarter during the first campaign is a dream come true.

Scientific research tells us that nearly all of the cells in the human body are renewed every seven years. Personally, I like to think that explains the “seven-year itch,” the phenomenon by which so many of us change jobs, friends and such on a predictable cycle: because you’re literally not the same person anymore.
It’s been eight years since Albee (Amber Midthunder) and Walker (Taylor Gray) got married, and their relationship is running on fumes. A surprisingly serious-minded drama from “Hot Tub Time Machine” helmer Steve Pink (who co-wrote Gen X John Cusack romances “Grosse Pointe Blank” and “High Fidelity”), no-frills indie “The Wheel” follows this couple on a weekend retreat to a remote Airbnb, where the pair plan to hash things out once and for all.
Walker has brought along a self-help book, “Seven Questions to Save Your Marriage.” Albee says she’s game, but seldom looks away from her iPhone.
