Ranking the 10 Thunderbolts* MCU Projects — Which Do You Need to Watch?
Image
With the Thunderbolts* arriving to Disney+ soon, a lot more people are learning about the MCU’s latest team. After all, several characters were limited to minor roles, or even non-speaking parts, in previous MCU films. While others broke through despite poor reception for their movies, audiences may need a refresher. Here’s our ranking of the Thunderbolts* across the other Marvel TV and film properties. Notably, we excluded cameos from the larger films, meaning Bucky does not receive credit for Black Panther. Given the premise of the show (and limited screentime), that was excluded from this process.

10. Captain America: Civil War (2016) Related: Thunderbolts* Post-Credit Scene Explained

This is not the best showcase for Bucky, so it needs to drop a few slots on this list in particular. He might be at the center of the action, but there’s not much else to say. This is ultimately a fight...

Skydance New Media Delays Marvel 1943: Rise Of Hydra Until Early 2026
Image
Since the story trailer for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra was released over a year ago, there's been very little else shared about the upcoming game from Skydance New Media. Perhaps this should've been a sign because this week it was announced that the narrative-driven action adventure game has been delayed.

Although we never had an exact release date, it was believed that Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra was targeted a launch later this year. On X/Twitter, Skydance announced that the game has now been pushed back and will release in early 2026.

"Taking this additional time will allow us to add more polish, and make sure we give you the best possible experience, and one that lives up to our vision," the development team wrote in a statement. "We have some exciting things in store and look forward to sharing more soon!"

Important update regarding Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra.

Who are the Thunderbolts? Meet Marvel's misfit heroes
Image
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is no stranger to a team of superhero misfits – the original Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy – but those two squads will look organized and downright competent compared to the new kids on the block. The Thunderbolts are ready to take their crack at saving the world if they don’t break it first.

Before you dive into the MCU’s latest offering, let’s meet the team, catch up with the “heroes” you need to know and learn about all of the chaotic things that led them to this very moment.

Chris Evans Had This to Say About Anthony Mackie's Captain America
Image
Marvel's most divisive Captain America movie saw Anthony Mackie star as the beloved superhero. Captain America: Brave New World hit theaters on February 14, 2025, and was the fourth installment of the Marvel Comics superhero film series. It was also a continuation of the television miniseries, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which had only six episodes on Disney+. Chris Evans, the original Captain America (Steve Rodgers) in the first three films, passed the torch — the shield — to Mackie (Sam Wilson) in Avengers: Endgame, and the rest was history. Recently, Mackie revealed what his fellow Marvel peer had to say about his performance.

According to ScreenRant, during an interview with E! News, Mackie revealed that Chris Evans texted him to congratulate him on the film, but the two have yet to see each other due to a busy schedule. "I haven't talked to him. I just got a text from him saying...

The Captain America: Brave New World Cameo We Did Not Expect
Image
With the Red Hulk coming into the MCU in a big way, much of the attention for Captain America: Brave New World gravitated there. However, with Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) taking the shield, there was always a chance for a Brave New World cameo or two. After all, Sam has great relationships with the Wakandans, the other Avengers, and even international teams. Despite this, there had been talk for months that one of our favorite Cap-adjacent actors would go missing from Brave New World. Luckily, that proved false.

Captain America: Brave New World Review – A New Cap, But Same Marvel Flaws
Image
The return of Captain America to the big screen marks an exciting new chapter for the MCU. Coming after the massive hit that was Deadpool & Wolverine, Marvel is looking to replant its roots with one of its most dependable franchises. Captain America: Brave New World arrives with Anthony Mackie officially taking up the shield for a full movie. While Brave New World covers much of the same ground as The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, solid action and heartfelt storytelling help it rise above mediocrity. However, yet again, Marvel struggles with CGI, and questionable editing makes the two-hour flick feel much longer than it should.

Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Solider Will Be A Member Of Congress In Thunderbolts*
Image
Not much was made about Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes sporting a gray, bespoke suit in May set photos from Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts*.

However, we have to look at them in a brand new light as it's been revealed at Sdcc that Bucky is now a Congressman.

If you recall, in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Barnes was unsure of what he should be doing with his life. With The Avengers disbanded and Steve Rodgers aged-up and out of the picture, Bucky was kind of left to drift in the wind.

However, per a Sdcc interview with  Wyatt Russell (US Agent) and Stan it's been revealed that The Winter Solider is wearing finer threads these days because he's a lawmaker that works on Capitol Hill.

When making jokes about Bucky washing his vibranium arm in his dishwasher (that actually happens according to the footage shown at Sdcc), Russell and...

Captain America: Brave New World: Tim Blake Nelson On Leader’s Return; Giancarlo Esposito Teases Sidewinder
Image
Out of the three main films that Marvel Studios focused on at Sdcc yesterday evening, the film with the most moving parts just might be Captain America: Brave New World.

The film will introduce adamantium to the MCU and features the Leader, the Serpent Society, and Red Hulk. Not to mention, it seems Bucky wasn't the only brainwashed, former super soldier based on what happens to Isaiah Bradley in the film's first trailer.

While on the Sdcc press line, actor Tim Blake Nelson told Deadline that he was initially heartbroken when it became apparent that there wouldn't be a second, standalone Hulk movie. But in reality, he needed the time that passed in order to become an actor who could do justice to the character of the Leader.

"I had given up on coming back as The Leader and I despaired over that for a good 15 years. It was a...

Teaser Trailer for Marvel's Sequel 'Captain America: Brave New World'
Image
"Work with me, Sam. We'll show the world a better way forward." Marvel has revealed the teaser trailer for the next sequel in the MCU called Captain America: Brave New World. It was delayed from release this year, now set to hit theaters on February 14th, 2025 next year. From director Julius Onah comes the next Captain America evolution – Anthony Mackie stars as Sam Wilson, who takes over as Cap from Steve Rodgers after he retired at the end of the Avengers movies. Brave New World picks up with Harrison Ford as the US president, with the power dynamics in the world changing (a real meta reference). He comes under attack and asks Cap to join the US military. Mackie said his version will not be as judgmental and he also has a different understanding of "what it is to be a good guy, or be a bad guy". He likened...

Why Hawkeye's Solo MCU Movie Was Scrapped In Favor Of A Disney+ Show
Image
For a lot of MCU fans, and Black Widow fans in particular, one of the most baffling choices the movies have made so far came in "Avengers: Endgame," when Black Widow/Natasha (Scarlett Johannsen) and Hawkeye/Clint (Jeremy Renner) tried to throw themselves off a cliff before the other could do it first. The cliff-jumping part made sense — one of them needed to die to save the world, and it was in character for both of them to sacrifice themself so the other could live. The questionable part was when Natasha successfully stopped Clint and flung herself to her death. It was a sad yet heroic end for her character, sure, but on a meta-level, wouldn't it make more sense for the movie to kill Clint?

No disrespect to Clint of course, but he was the less interesting of the two Avengers. He served his role well and had a heartwarming friendship with Natasha,...

'The Marvels’ trailer brings back some old school MCU energy into its fold
Image
After a lot of new rewrites and delays in shooting, not to mention the halting of production due the Hollywood strikes, MCU’s latest outing ‘The Marvels’ has released its final trailer and it harbours some of the old-school MCU energy back into its fold.

Beginning with a blurry clip of ‘Avengers: Endgame’, where Tony Stark and Steve Rodgers are discussing their prospects of winning before time travelling, Nick Fury is narrating his belief regarding heroes and saying that while it is an old-school notion the world nonetheless needs them.

While the previous trailer for the film was much more comical with no clear hint as to who the villain is, this time ‘The Marvels’ looks a lot darker and more serious, which makes the stakes much higher as well.

‘The Marvels’ follows Carol Danvers – Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), who has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence.

Despite Rumors, Jensen Ackles Didn't Actually Audition For Captain America
Image
A lot of false rumors spread quickly because, while they may not have any supporting evidence, we can all kind of see the reasoning behind them. For instance, people believe the rumor that the killers in "Scream 2" were changed at the last second because that's the impression the movie itself gives. More recently, people believed that viral story of Jerry Seinfeld chastising Jimmy Fallon for being rude to his employee because, well, it sounded like the sort of thing both guys would do.

On the same note, it's easy to see how people believed that Jensen Ackles, the beloved actor who played Dean Winchester on "Supernatural" and Soldier Boy on "The Boys," once auditioned for the role of Captain America. The role, which would instead be taken up by Chris Evans, is exactly the sort of character we know Ackles could play: He's a strong, noble super-soldier, one without...

The Avengers are Earth's Mightiest Heroes, but the Defenders protect the planet from threats from beyond. Early in his superhero career, Dr. Strange recognized there were threats to Eartth, infinite horrors of unimaginable power lurking across the Multiverse and the vastness of the cosmos, and the world needed a team ready to defend it should the time come. To that end, the Defenders were born.

The original Defenders were Dr. Strange, Namor, and the Hulk, but several iterations of the team have existed since. Tasked with facing threats of the mystical, multidimensional, or intergalactic nature, the Defenders require superheroes of an appropriate skill level to match these threats: The Defenders have been home to some of the singularly most powerful heroes in Marvel Comics, including these twenty who rank among Marvel's absolute best.

How Captain America: New World Order Comics Will Play Into The MCU

Disney CEO's MCU Update Is Bad News For The Original Avengers
Image
The original Avengers of the Marvel Cinematic Universe just received some bad news, through a recently released update by Disney CEO Bob Iger. The very first movie in the MCU, 2008's Iron Man, ended with a post-credits scene that saw Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury recruit Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark for the Avenger Initiative. Since then, there have been four Avengers movies released in theaters — with two more on the way — and the franchise has amassed well over $7 billion at the global box office.

2019's Avengers: Endgame is the most recent release in the franchise, with the movie serving as a swan song for part of the original MCU Avengers team. While Avengers: Endgame featured pretty much every character in the MCU, Marvel was bound to part ways with some of its iconic heroes in the near future. Deadline shared an interesting update from Disney CEO Iger at the Morgan Stanley Technology,...

Captain America's Star Shield Has One Huge Improvement on the Original
Image
For as long as Captain America has existed in the Marvel Universe, he has carried an iconic shield which represents his desire to help and protect others. Upon his debut, Cap's star-spangled shield arrived in the shape of a diamond, but he would later take up the more famous disc, made from a unique Vibranium-metal alloy. While Captain America has wielded other models since - from his Iron Man-created photon shield to his blade-tipped, detachable Secret Empire weapon - the round shield remains key to his identity, though it does come with one major weakness.

Cap's shield was made during a mysterious experiment and is a perfectly balanced weapon which can totally redirect blows even from godlike attackers. This makes it one of Marvel's most effective weapons, and that in turn makes it a desirable trophy to Steve Rogers' many villains (and an irreplaceable asset to his government.) Accordingly,...

Marvel Retconned Vibranium's MCU Origin (& Made Black Panther Better)
Image
Vibranium was originally supposed to be introduced during Iron Man 2, but its origins were changed for future MCU projects, helping to secure a brighter future for the coveted resource. Vibranium has been an important plot point in the MCU since Captain America: The First Avenger, which revealed that Captain America's shield was made from the only vibranium that the US Government could get their hands on, but it wasn't until Avengers: Age of Ultron and Black Panther where its significance was truly explored. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever proved vibranium is still crucial to the MCU, but its origin was almost very different in the early days of the MCU.

The opening animated montage of 2018's Black Panther revealed that vibranium had crashed to Earth in the form of a meteor, embedding itself in Wakanda and affecting the plant life in the area, allowing the vibranium-infused heart-shaped herb to...

Namor Actor Also Wants To Know What He Was Doing During Infinity War
Image
Namor actor Tenoch Huerta also wants to know what the Talokan king was doing during Avengers: Infinity War. The two epic Avengers films used to close out the Infinity Saga featured events that completely changed the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so much so that new projects cannot escape questions about it. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is no different in this regard. The Phase 4 movie provided some answers about who ruled Wakanda after T'Challa was snapped by Thanos or why Nakia was not present for the Wakanda fight, but other questions related to the universe-wide event also were created.

One of the biggest questions raised by Black Panther: Wakanda Forever came through the introduction of Namor. The powerful new MCU villain was revealed to have been around for hundreds of years, meaning he was ruling Talokan throughout the Infinity Saga's storyline. But since Black Panther: Wakanda Forever demonstrated the...

Why Steve Rogers' Son Will Never Replace Him as Captain America

Steve Rogers' adopted son Ian Rogers aka Nomad knows that he won’t be the next Captain America, and he's perfectly fine with that. Nomad is a very complicated man with his own sense of justice but has a profound respect for his father’s legacy. However, Steve Rogers himself decides to tell his adopted son why he will not pass the mantle of Captain America to him.

Civil War's Alternate Ending Unleashed Iron Man's Ultimate Weapon
Image
Nearly two decades after its publication, the Civil War between Iron Man and Captain America stands as a pivotal moment in Marvel Comics history. Fans have often been given glimpses of how it could have turned out differently, and thanks to Contest of Champions we now know how terrifying its ending could have been.

The Marvel event Civil War began after a young team of heroes, the New Warriors led by Speedball, attempted to apprehend supervillains that were far beyond their skill level, including the human bomb known as Nitro. During the incident Nitro exploded in the middle of Stamford, Connecticut and killed a lot of innocent people, including school children. The public blamed the superhero community and resulted in Iron Man supporting a registration bill in Congress that made heroes subordinate and answerable to the government. Captain America, meanwhile, gathered heroes who stood against it and the conflict between the two sides turned vicious,...

5 MCU Deadpool Crossovers That Really Need To Happen (& Will They?)

In Deadpool 3, Marvel Studios can set up some brilliant Deadpool crossovers that need to happen in the MCU. After Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox was finalized in 2019, Ryan Reynolds was quickly confirmed to be making the move from Fox's X-Men franchise into the MCU, getting the chance to continue his character's story in Marvel Studios' established shared universe. Currently, Deadpool 3 is scheduled to kick off the McU's Phase 6, starring Reynolds as Wade Wilson, a.k.a. Deadpool, and Hugh Jackman as Logan Howlett, a.k.a. Wolverine, reprising his iconic role, and the pair will be joined by MCU newcomer Emma Corrin as the film's mystery villain.

In Marvel Comics, Deadpool debuted in 1990's New Mutants #98, originally depicted as a supervillain, but later as an antihero. Deadpool quickly became a hit for Marvel, thanks to his incessant joking and tendency to break the fourth wall, something which...

The MCU Already Set Up Hydra's Ultra-Powerful Dark Avengers Team
Image
Hydra has its own version of the Avengers in a nightmare dimension within Marvel Comics that can briefly be seen in the MCU. In 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the Sorcerer Supreme is transported through multiple dimensions by America Chavez, one of which is a Hydra-controlled New York. The evil organization has been a constant thorn in the side of Captain America and the Avengers, but now they can finally rival Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

The 2015 Hail Hydra comic book miniseries by Rick Remender and Roland Boschi takes place during 2015’s Secret Wars storyline, which sees the Marvel multiverse collapse with only fragments of destroyed realities surviving on the patchwork planet of Battleworld. All regions of Battleworld are parts of different universes and one of them is a New York that is controlled by Hydra. This fractured city is seen from the perspective of Nomad, the adopted...

Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania Makes Scott Lang The Tony Stark Of The McU's Phase 5
Image
This post contains spoilers for "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania." Please proceed with caution.

Back in 2019, "Avengers: Endgame" featured one of the boldest moves the Marvel Cinematic Universe has ever done: They decided to permanently write off two of its biggest heroes, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Steve Rogers (Chris Evans). Considering most franchises' general tendency to keep things going for as long as possible, the fact that they went through on such a major change to the status quo (and have stuck to it in the years since) feels like minor miracle.

In the years since, they've given us a replacement of sorts for Steve Rogers, letting Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson take over his Captain America role. There hasn't really been a clear-cut replacement for Iron Man, however. Ironheart in "Wakanda Forever" is probably the closest to him from a technical point of view, but who's going...

Anthony Mackie On If His Captain America Will Lead The Avengers
Image
As the new Captain America, Anthony Mackie comments on if Sam Wilson will lead the Avengers moving forward. Following the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Sam has finally assumed his rightful place as the next Captain America, just as Steve Rogers intended. Beyond that, however, there's interest in knowing what lies ahead for him, including what role he will play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Speaking with Empire Magazine, Mackie was asked if Sam Wilson's Captain America will end up leading the Avengers just like Steve did in the Infinity Saga. The actor hasn't given any indication about what to expect regarding this matter, but it sounds like he isn't that enthusiastic about the idea. Read Mackie's full quote below:

Sam is the only character without superpowers. He's just a regular dude hanging out with a bunch of weirdos. Being from New Orleans, I've been in a few fights.

Jackman’s Wolverine Can Bring Back Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers
Image
Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is officially joining the MCU for Deadpool 3, and that could be the key for Chris Evans to reprise his role as Steve Rogers. One of the most shocking MCU announcements of 2022, Deadpool 3 will see the return of Hugh Jackman to the role of Wolverine now as part of a larger Marvel universe. Considering that Jackman had retired the claws after Logan, plus that Wolverine never got to interact with other Marvel heroes aside from the X-Men, Wolverine in the MCU’s Deadpool 3 could not be more exciting. Still, Wolverine’s future in the MCU after Deadpool 3 can be even more interesting.

With the MCU now in the Multiverse Saga, there are no limits as to what crossovers can happen on the big screen. That said, as exciting as the multiverse is, potential crossovers between MCU characters and legacy Marvel characters from previous...

Venom's Upgraded Hydra Powers Finally Justified His Name
Image
While Venom is unarguably one of the most brutal characters in Marvel Comics, with a hardcore name to match, his moniker never really made a lot of sense–at least, not until he received a major upgrade courtesy of Hydra.

Eddie Brock was the first person besides Spider-Man to wear the symbiote that would become known as Venom. Not only that, but Eddie and the symbiote came up with that name together while both of them were stewing in their shared hatred of Spider-Man. Eddie Brock hated Spidey because the web-slinger exposed him as a fraudulent and unethical journalist, which forced Eddie to get a job writing tabloid pieces–articles he referred to as ‘venom’ since they spewed only rumors, gossip, and potentially harmful misinformation about practically anyone featured in his writing. The Venom-symbiote hated Spider-Man because it felt rejected by him. Spider-Man was his worst self with the symbiote,...

Captain America's Most Important Rule is Being Broken By Sam Wilson
Image
Warning: Spoilers for Captain America: Symbol of Truth #10

The most important rule of Captain America is finally being broken by Sam Wilson, as the former Falcon has decided to kill his enemies. Captain America, as a member of the Avengers, follows strict rules never to kill a single combatant, even if they threaten the universe itself. But in Captain America: Symbol of Truth #10, Sam Wilson realizes he can no longer abide by this rule.

Captain America first began his career as a soldier in World War II, and as such has killed his enemies in combat overseas. However, he decided against killing once he became a superhero and an Avenger, along with nearly the entire team. Superheroes killing their enemies is extraordinarily rare in the Marvel Universe, and very few characters lack a "no-kill" rule.

Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania's Modok Looks Unsettlingly Strange, And It Totally Works
Image
This post contains spoilers for "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania." Please proceed with caution.

Since the dawn of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we've seen a number of unique and unusual characters. Though any Nazi's face is punchable, especially for Captain America, the crimson visage of the Red Skull makes his outsides look as nasty as what's on the inside. Thor's adventures through the Nine Realms have introduced us to Frost Giants, Dark Elves, and Kronans. (That last one is Korg's race of people.) And then the Guardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Strange took us even further beyond the stars and our own universe to introduce us to even more fantastical beings ripped straight from the pages of Marvel Comics. But "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" brings us probably the weirdest one yet.

In director Peyton Reed's Phase 5 kickoff, the size-shifting Avengers come face-to-huge-face with M.O.D.O.

Giving Characters A Resolution Was Never Joss Whedon's Goal With The MCU
Image
For all the allegations of his behavior that have surfaced in recent years, it's hard to deny the impact that Joss Whedon had on Hollywood in his prime. Whedon was pretty much a master of ensemble pieces before he was tapped to write and direct "The Avengers" in 2010 — but "The Avengers" was much bigger in scale compared to "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Firefly" or "Serenity," the TV shows that put him on the map in the '00s.

Shortly before "The Avengers" released in 2012, Whedon spoke to Den of Geek about the challenges of writing the film. One of the bigger hurdles came in uniting so many different characters, each who'd headlined their own respective projects and existed in wildly different worlds. "You don't try to make anybody else's movie," Whedon explained. "Jon Favreau's going to do a thing, [Kenneth Branagh] is going to do a thing. I'm going...

Marvel Timeline Summary: Here’s an MCU Cheat Sheet for All the Major Events
Image
After more than a decade on our screens, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a massive universe at this point, and it can be hard to keep track of everything that’s gone down — so allow us to do that for you.

Obviously, if you’re watching Marvel’s latest releases, you’re probably already pretty well-versed in this particular franchise. But maybe you’re coming into one of these new films simply because an actor you love is in it, or someone you love wants to watch a Marvel project with you, and you don’t have much of a knowledge base going into it.

Whether you don’t have time to sit down and marathon six or seven shows and almost 30 movies — or really just don’t have a desire to — or you’re simply here because you’re trying to remember when that one thing happened, we’ve got you.

Maria Hill Is Marvel's New Iron Man (And Has Already Failed)
Image
Warning: Spoilers for Secret Invasion #4Marvel's new Iron Man is officially Maria Hill - and she fails at being a superhero even more than Tony Stark. Hill is often a character in the background, supporting other characters like Captain America and Nick Fury in their individual adventures. In Secret Invasion #4, Maria Hill finally gets her own character-centric event, but makes so many poor decisions that becoming an Iron Man was practically an inevitability.

Maria Hill's biggest claim to fame in the comics is her infamous action in Civil War, in which she sided against Captain America and his anti-regulation band of superheroes. While she eventually made peace with Steve Rogers, Hill hasn't seen a character-centric narrative in a while. This has changed with 2022's Secret Invasion, which centers around a Skrull invasion of Earth - but instead of the Skrulls, the main villain of the piece is paranoia, suspicion, a race to accuse others,...

Before Seeing ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,’ Here’s Everything You Need to Know From the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Image
One of the great charms of the first two “Ant-Man” movies is how little they have to do with the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sure, Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang tussles with Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson in the 2015 original. And yeah, the introduction of the Quantum Realm in the 2018 sequel lays the groundwork for the time travel shenanigans in “Avengers: Endgame.” But generally speaking, audiences could take in Scott’s size-shifting adventures alongside scientist Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), his daughter Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) and Hank’s wife and Hope’s mother Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), without needing to be steeped within the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” is a different beast entirely. Despite the assurances of Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige that every Marvel title can exist on its own terms, the third “Ant-Man” film is neck deep in series lore as...

McU's Next Guardians Of The Galaxy Team Is Possible Thanks To Kang
Image
Thanks to Kang the Conqueror, the MCU has an easy way to introduce the next Guardians of the Galaxy team. For years, James Gunn has maintained that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be the end of the line for Star-Lord and the other characters. If so, Marvel may soon look to new heroes to headline any future Guardians of the Galaxy installments.

Similar to how Marvel is passing the baton from Steve Rogers to Sam Wilson with Captain America: New World Order, it can put together a new team of cosmic adventurers via Guardians of the Galaxy 4. After all, it'll still have an abundance of characters to work with even after Star-Lord's team is retired. Adam Warlock, for one, will be available, not to mention all the cosmic heroes Marvel hasn't even used yet, like Nova, Silver Surfer, and Beta Ray Bill. As for how and when they'd be introduced,...

6 Upcoming Movies That Could Rival Avatar: The Way Of Water's Box Office
Image
Avatar: The Way of Water’s 2 billion box office haul continues to grow, though six upcoming movies could rival its incredible performance. Not only has Avatar 2 been fighting for the position of third-highest-grossing film of all time, but James Cameron’s sci-fi epic is also the first movie to make over 2 billion since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. After Avatar: The Way of Water and Top Gun: Maverick triumphantly revitalized theatrical movie-going, this enthusiastic wave of massive box office hits is expected to continue with the slate of upcoming releases. From newly-rebooted film adaptations to major franchise sequels arriving over the next few years, the future of the box office looks bright as studios work to parallel Avatar 2’s success.

The biggest new blockbuster releases in 2023 like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One will doubtlessly be box...

Captain America's Friendship With Black Panther Is Officially Over
Image
Warning: Spoilers for Black Panther #14

The friendship between Captain America and Black Panther is officially over in Marvel Comics as the former King of Wakanda has been replaced - by Namor. Steve Rogers and T'Challa have fought together for many years, but the two come from vastly different worlds with different life experiences. In Black Panther #14, Steve can no longer deny that T'Challa's actions have jeopardized the entire world, and can no longer be trusted.

Captain America is one of the few superheroes who has fought multiple Black Panthers; in World War II, he fought T'Challa's grandfather while pursuing Nazi soldiers into Wakanda. Black Panther defeated both the Nazis and Rogers, and told him in no uncertain terms to leave his land. Captain America would later forge a friendship with T'Challa, arguably the most famous Black Panther, who initially appeared in Fantastic Four comics as a villain. T'Challa is the...

Captain America 4's Thunderbolt Ross Rumor Confirmed By Marvel
Image
Harrison Ford's Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross will be the United States president in Captain America: New World Order, confirming a long-existing rumor about the character. The Star Wars and Indiana Jones actor is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe via the upcoming Julius Onah film. He takes over the role of Ross following William Hurt's passing in 2022 and will co-star with Anthony Mackie, who is now the McU's Captain America.

In a new interview with EW, Feige confirms the Captain America: New World Order rumor that claims that Ross will be the President of the United States in the film. Without delving into plot specifics, he also teases the dynamic between Ford's MCU character and Sam, which will be a core relationship in the film.

This is certainly a big part for Thaddeus Ross. He's the President of the United States in the film. And with Harrison, you think about "Air Force One,...

Captain America 4 Gets Major Update From Anthony Mackie
Image
Captain America: New World Order is very close to start shooting, according to leading man Anthony Mackie. Captain America: New World Order will be the fourth entry in the hero's solo franchise in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Mackie's Sam Wilson takes over the mantle after the Captain America trilogy that starred Chris Evans' Steve Rogers as the star-spangled hero. Excitement is high for the first images from the movie to start coming out, and a comment by Mackie hints that that might be happening soon.

Speaking with Yahoo Entertainment, Mackie revealed Captain America: New World Order starts shooting in March.

I talked to Anthony Mackie about Captain America: New World Order status (a month from shooting), how his Cap will differ from Chris Evans' and if he’s gonna be the one explaining the MCU to Harrison Ford (“I’m gonna give him a full breakdown”). pic.twitter.com...

Marvel Finally Calls Out Captain America on His Biggest Flaw
Image
Warning: Spoilers for Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #9!Despite being the most morally-upstanding hero in the Marvel Universe, Captain America is not a perfect man - and his biggest character flaw shows that even his biggest victories have a tragic edge. Steve Rogers is most famous for his contributions to the American war effort in World War II and his rebirth as a superhero icon in the modern age. But in Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #9, readers realize precisely why Steve cannot give up the fight: if he hesitates, his pain will catch up to him.

In Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #9, written by Jackson Lanzing & Collin Kelly with art by Carmen Carnero, Captain America and Sharon Carter fight wave after wave of Aim troops, all under the control of the evil Modok. Captain America insists on fighting, advancing on Modok while his allies follow. Of course, it's normal for...

Thanos Broke The McU's Power Levels (& Marvel Will Struggle To Fix It)
Image
He may have been a compelling villain, but Thanos broke the McU's power levels - and Marvel will struggle to fix the problem. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is undoubtedly one of the greatest success stories in the history of Hollywood. It's easy to forget, though, that it was originally seen as something of a gamble. Marvel had long since sold the film rights to their A-level heroes, Spider-Man and the X-Men, meaning they were stuck with the second-tier heroes who were left. According to film historian Ben Fritz, Marvel convened focus groups of children to find out which superhero's toys would interest them. The children overwhelmingly chose Iron Man as the most interesting hero - and so Iron Man became the foundation of the MCU.

Marvel's shared universe model was a risky one, especially as the flourishing franchise built up to the release of The Avengers in 2012. If The Avengers had failed,...

5 Options For Captain America 4’s New Character
Image
Captain America: New World Order has a new character whose identity is a mystery, and here are the Marvel heroes and villains Xosha Roquemore could play. The actress from Atlanta and Space Jam: A New Legacy has reportedly joined the cast of the upcoming Phase 5 Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. At the time of the casting announcement, it was not revealed who Xosha Roquemore is playing in Captain America 4. The casting report did tease that she is playing a new character whose identity is being kept under wraps by Marvel for the time being.

Roquemore is the latest addition to the Captain America: New World Order cast. Anthony Mackie returns to headline the movie after Sam Wilson officially took over the mantle in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly) and Joaquín Torres (Danny Ramirez) are confirmed to return after the show alongside Sam. It is...
