Euphoria star Barbie Ferreira has opened up about her controversial exit from the show. She also shared what it meant to her to play Kat in the series.

Appearing on The Viall Files podcast, Ferreira shared more information about her departure from HBO's Euphoria — including that she "never walked off set" as it was reported. "I think instead of me kind of lingering around for nine months, I think it was best for both of us that we just ended it there," she said. "Of course it’s hard — I love Euphoria. I love Kat. “Euphoria” Season 3 announced its cast on Friday — and some new names are in the mix. Rosalía, Marshawn Lynch and Kadeem Hardison will all join series regulars Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi on the HBO drama’s latest outing, with Dominic Fike also set to return. Notably absent from the new season’s casting news is Storm Reid.

“Euphoria” resumed production this week for its long-awaited third season. The show was marred by delays caused by the Covid pandemic as well as the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Dominic Fike Sets ‘Euphoria’ Season 3 Return (Exclusive)
Image
Dominic Fike is returning for Season 3 of “Euphoria.”

While he was left off a list of new and returning cast members released by HBO on Friday, Variety can exclusively report that the “3 Nights” singer and actor will indeed reprise his role as Elliot in Sam Levinson’s hit high school drama. Fike is set to shoot a couple of scenes for the show next week, sources say.

HBO declined to comment.

Fike joined “Euphoria” in its second season, which premiered in January 2022. He played a guitar-slinging, drug-addicted teen who befriends Rue (Zendaya) and Jules (Hunter Schafer), wrapping them up in a messy love triangle and serving as an obstacle to Rue’s sobriety. Fike’s talents as a Grammy-nominated recording artist were highlighted in the Season 2 finale, as Elliot performs an original song on the acoustic guitar for Rue. Fike and Zendaya released a version of “Elliot’s Song” on music streaming services.
