Soundgarden are seen as a quintessential Nineties band, but they actually formed in 1984, and started releasing music three years later. That means they’ve been eligible for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 2012. Fans started giving up hope after they appeared on two ballots prior to this year, and failed to get in. That made it even more joyous when the Seattle group finally made the cut this year alongside the White Stripes, OutKast, Chubby Checker, Bad Company, Joe Cocker, Salt-n-Pepa, Warren Zevon, and Cyndi Lauper.

Released in 1995, Clueless marked a major fashion reset. It moved away from the grunge style inspired by Nirvana and introduced a polished, preppy aesthetic. Cher Horowitz’s wardrobe helped reintroduce matching co-ord sets, slip dresses, and tartan skirts, effectively rewriting American youth fashion.
In addition to coining the immortalized expressions “as if!” and “whatever!”, the 1995 American coming-of-age romantic comedy film showed another side to ’90s fashion that people who aren’t that into grunge and hip-hop style instantly warmed up to.

Perhaps, it’s time to take out your tissues over your black capes, because Gotham might be losing another Batman. Yep, it’s looking real gloomy, because we’ve already been facing the dreadful delay situation with Robert Pattinson’s The Batman 2. And now, reports suggest that his broody eyes and emo eyeliner might be facing the axe.
And who warned us about this, ages ago? Zack Snyder fans, of course! They’ve been waving red flags louder than a Bat-Signal. Now, James Gunn is reportedly scouting for his own version of the Dark Knight for the rebooted DC Universe—and things aren’t looking good for Robert Pattinson’s Batman.

Today, April 5th, 2025, marks the 31st anniversary of the day the music world lost one of its most influential and enigmatic figures: Kurt Cobain. Found dead in his Seattle home on April 5th, 1994, forensic investigation later determined that the Nirvana frontman had tragically taken his own life on April 5th, 1994, at the age of just 27. The news sent a shockwave through a generation that had found its voice, its angst, and its reluctant icon in the raw, unfiltered honesty of his music.
Kurt Donald Cobain, born on February 20th, 1967, in Aberdeen, Washington, was more than just a musician; he was a cultural touchstone. His rise with Nirvana in the late 1980s and early 1990s coincided with a seismic shift in popular music, pushing the raw energy and disillusionment of grunge into the mainstream. With bassist Krist Novoselic and drummer Dave Grohl, Cobain crafted a sound that was both abrasive and undeniably melodic,...

Momma deliver their fantastic new album Welcome to My Blue Sky just in time for a whole new Summer of Grunge. Momma’s Etta Friedman and Allegra Weingarten are longtime friends who met as high school Pavement fans in Southern California, now raise hell in Brooklyn, and cram their guitars full of youthful sex-and-romance pangs along with a mommalode of slacker angst. Jams like “I Want You (Fever)” are for anyone who’s ever heard the chaos in their heart translated into euphoric guitar ruckus.

Fontaines D.C. recently stopped by Australian radio station triple j to offer the platform a signature Like a Version cover. They opted for a dreamy rendition of Bring Me the Horizon’s “Can You Feel My Heart,” in which they also interpolated Nirvana’s In Utero hit “Heart-Shaped Box.”
Usually a guitar-forward band, Fontaines D.C. decided on just synths, keys, vocals, and programmed drums for their Like a Version session. They brought a stirring conviction to the cover reminiscent of the Irish band’s darkest songs — especially their great 2024 album Romance — emphasized by dramatic strings, trip-hop drums, and frontman Grian Chatten’s booming baritone. Chatten cued up the Nirvana moment shortly after the two-minute mark.

Just under two years after the season one finale of The Last of Us comes the trailer for season two. Partly set to a version of Nirvana’s “You Know You’re Right”, The Last of Us trailer offers a lot of surprises for fans not just of the first season but also the video game.
As we know, season two of The Last of Us picks up a handful of years after the events of season one. But of more interest is the introduction of Abby, who is introduced in the sequel game The Last of Us Part II and is a crucial part of the story – so much so that we won’t even consider spoiling how significant of a role she has. A massive trove of live performances from the late-Nineties/early-Aughts glory days of music television has finally made it to the streaming era, with Paramount+ uploading old episodes of MTV Unplugged, CMT Crossroads, and VH1 Storytellers.
As Billboard notes, these collections aren’t entirely comprehensive, with random episodes and full seasons missing here and there for all three programs. Nevertheless, there’s still a deep assortment of classic performances to dig through, including most of the episodes that appeared on Rolling Stone’s list of the 15 Best Episodes of MTV Unplugged.

Nothing is Everything: Eldin’s Continuing Exploration of Existential Crisis
For his sophomore film Yunan, intended as the second chapter in a thematic trilogy following 2021’s The Stranger, director Ameer Fakher Eldin presents a parable within a parable as a disillusioned writer contemplates suicide. The milk of human kindness, and what appears to be a metaphorically biblical flood, reinvigorates his zest for life. Aided by accepting an epiphany, which basically regards the reality we are all destined to die and be forgotten (which Nirvana might have stated more eloquently as ‘all in all is all we are’), we follow him on his journey towards a peaceful reckoning to enjoy the present.…...

Kicking off with a tribute to the Blues Brothers from the evening’s host Jimmy Fallon, last night’s “SNL50: The Homecoming Concert” pulled out all the stops in celebrating the show’s rich musical history, as well as the influence music has had on its comedy. And though Fallon made sure to start the affair at Radio City Music Hall by pointing out that everyone in the room had some form of connection to “Saturday Night Live” and were not there as casual spectators, watching at home, its clear the production worked hard to place fans of the staple variety series right at the the center of the action as well.
The first singer of the evening was Miley Cyrus. After a rendition of Queen’s “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” accompanied by The Roots (they served as the house band for the evening) and Brittany Howard, Cyrus gave...

No Doubt reunited once again to perform at the FireAid benefit concert in Los Angeles on Thursday night, where they played “Just a Girl,” “Don’t Speak,” and “Spiderwebs.”
The band was introduced by John Mayer — who said “You can’t have a concert for SoCal” without them — and immediately launched into “Just a Girl,” donning their ’90s throwback plaid and bringing their ska A-game to the upbeat crowd-pleaser. From there, they performed “Don’t Speak,” and then brought the energy back up their closer, “Spiderwebs.” Watch a clip of the performance below.
The appearance marked No Doubt’s first live appearance since they reunited last year to headline Coachella, which earned a “Skachella” nickname thanks to their involvement and a set from fellow SoCal band Sublime.

On Thursday night, P!Nk was one of many artists who performed at the FireAid benefit concert, taking the stage at the Kia Forum for an impassioned set that included a cover of Led Zeppelin’s version of “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You.”
P!Nk began her portion of the night with a rendition of 2017 song “What About Us,” after which she told the crowd that she was going to “keep my feet on the ground” with “a couple of songs that bring me comfort.” She then launched into a stirring cover of the Janis Joplin classic “Me and Bobby McGee.”
After belting her heart out on the “Bobby McGee” outro — which made her “almost pass out” — she took a drink and asked the audience “We got any Led Zeppelin fans out there?” Responding to their applause, she said “Alright, thank God” and introduced the next song: her version of...

Nirvana’s Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, and Pat Smear reunited at the FireAid benefit concert, where they were joined by St. Vincent, Kim Gordon, Joan Jett, and Violet Grohl for a number of Nirvana songs. Watch clips of the performances below.
The reunion was a highlight of the evening, and came as a surprise amidst the two-venue benefit show’s already-stacked lineup. St. Vincent started things off, playing a rendition of “Breed” with Novoselic on bass and Grohl on drums — marking the latter’s first public musical performance since his extramarital scandal last year.
Gordon was next to fill in for the late Kurt Cobain, taking center stage to perform “School.” After her, Novoselic introduced Jett, who led a rocking version of “Territorial Pissings.”

Nearly 30 of the biggest stars of the past half-century came together on Jan. 30 to deliver a five-and-a-half-hour love letter to Los Angeles, offering the city a much-needed musical catharsis following this month’s devastating, destructive wildfires.
The FireAid show was a huge undertaking: With so many artists eager to take part, organizers split them into two simultaneous events, at the famed Kia Forum and the newer Intuit Dome one mile down the street. Fittingly, most of the classic rock acts played the Forum, while the more contemporary pop stars played the newer venue.

There’s an insane amount of competition for the best-ever musical performance on Saturday Night Live. But if we crowned an all-time champ for best SNL mid-week promo by a musical guest, the winner has to be Nirvana. Their profoundly awkward team-up with NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley was one for the ages.
Nirvana was a seasoned SNL veteran by the time the group played the 1993 season premiere with Barkley. But when the band appeared for the first time in January 1992, the result was almost a “Titanic-level disaster,” according to drummer Dave Grohl in the new documentary Ladies & Gentlemen... 50 Years of SNL Music. The explanation for why the appearance was so harrowing is simple: Pure fear.
“I was absolutely fucking terrified,” Grohl admitted.

His name is Lee … Bill Lee. A man slouching toward middle age and suffering the malaise of someone who’s seen it all, heard it all, shot it all into his veins, he’s embraced the dissolute life of an ex-pat. Sporting an endless supply of filthy linen suits and ever-present fedoras, Lee cruises the bars looking to score sex and junk in Mexico. Sweaty afternoons are spent buzzed on cheap tequila and bantering with his fellow social outcasts. Evenings are spent in the company of willing young men and needles.

History is written by the victors, they say, but it always depends on which side is winning. In the battle for the crown jewel of entertainment, YouTube and MTV were caught in a deadly game as the platform that was once at its peak now lies relatively dormant. Meanwhile, the other relatively obscure platform steadily climbs to the top.

However, the legal battle between MTV and YouTube was, in the end, a timely one that ascertained the need for platforms like the latter to exist. As YouTube grew in popularity over the years, it also became one of the largest reservoirs of audiovisual content in the world.
It was only a matter of time until the platform came under heavy attack from competitors with some even trying to bring it down.

One of the most unusual songs Soundgarden recorded was “Head Down” — a deep cut on their biggest-selling album, 1994’s Superunknown — that tumbles slowly over six minutes, adding crusts of snaky guitar and ear-twisting vocal harmonies until it settles as a clatter of percussion. Bassist Ben Shepherd wrote the song, but it was Chris Cornell who pushed the limits of his voice into the upper strata to sing Shepherd’s lyrics about cloaking depression in a smile. “We see you cry, we turn your head,” he sings like an onlooker to his own strife,...

Don’t F**k With Ghosts. It’s the #1 rule every ghost hunter knows, and the first rule every ghost hunter breaks. In the painfully delightfully Canadian mockumentary Don’t F**k With Ghosts, filmmakers Stuart Stone and Adam Rodness (playing fictional versions of themselves) set out to find indisputable proof of the existence of the ghosts. YouTube is engaged in ongoing negotiations with a music rights organization that protects the copyrights of major pop, rock, and hip-hop acts. That organization is called Sesac, and its lack of a deal with YouTube has restricted access to music videos from artists like Adele, Nirvana, R.E.M., and Kendrick Lamar.
The rights dispute doesn’t cover all of the videos by the affected artists, but several prominent clips have become unlisted, including Adele hits like “Someone Like You” and “Hello” and 90s classics like “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and “Losing My Religion”. In total, Sesac licenses more than 1.5 million tracks on behalf of 15,000 songwriters, composers, and publishers, according to its website.
A YouTube spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter that Sesac’s contract with the platform expired, and the two sides have thus far been unable to come to terms on a new deal. “We take copyright very seriously and as a result,...

Update: YouTube and Sesac have come to terms on a new deal. “Content (that was previously blocked) will be restored across YouTube services over the next day or two,” YouTube said in a statement on Monday night.
Hundreds of classic music videos and songs by Nirvana, Adele, Bob Dylan, Kendrick Lamar, Green Day, and hundreds more are currently unavailable on YouTube amid a copyright dispute between the video platform and the performance rights organization, Sesac.
A YouTube spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter on Saturday, that the site and Sesac were “unable to reach an equitable agreement” before the expiration of their copyright deal.
“We take copyright very seriously and as a result, content represented by Sesac is no longer available on YouTube in the US,” the spokesperson said. “We are in active conversations with Sesac and are hoping to reach a new deal as soon as possible.”

Songs by Adele, Kendrick Lamar, Bob Dylan, Nirvana, Green Day and Mariah Carey, among others, are returning to YouTube after a contract dispute between the platform and Sesac, a performing rights organization, was resolved.
A YouTube spokesperson shared in a statement with The Hollywood Reporter on Monday, “We’re pleased that Sesac reconsidered our offer. We’ve reached a deal and content will come back up shortly. We appreciate everyone’s patience during this time.”
Earlier, some songs by several artists were met with this message when attempting to be played: “This video contains content from Sesac. It is not available in your country.”

Ultra Instinct Goku was the talk of the town since the Tournament of Power. The Godly silver glow accompanied by seamless movements made the Angel’s specialty one of the best, if not the best, forms/techniques in Dragon Ball. Philosophically speaking, it’s the pinnacle of existence for all living creatures within and outside the multiverse.

I doubt you need me to tell you that Taylor Swift is a big deal right now. The pop star is selling out stadiums and boosting the economies of countries around the world. Her fans are famously loyal, to the point where they'll love you if you publicly say you like her and her music. And if say you don't...well, tread lightly.
Peter Dinklage, who played Tyrion Lannister for all eight seasons on Game of Thrones, is on their good side. "Taylor Swift, I can tell you anything about Taylor Swift, 'cause I'm in it, I'm in it deep," he said on a recent episode of the podcast Andrew Schulz's Flagrant with Akaash Singh. "Culturally, Taylor Swift is huge, she's everywhere. I think she's fantastic."
Dinklage didn't stumble upon Swift himself, but was exposed by his kids, who are around 13 and 7 years old. As a Gen X-er, he's also...

If you're looking to relish in some '90s nostalgia, there's no better show to watch than That '90s Show. The sequel series to That '70s Show takes place in 1996 and pays homage to multiple iconic and nostalgic pop culture references from the decade, from its parody sequences (Doug! Clueless! Pulp Fiction!) to its music to its episode titles. It's a hilarious time capsule that will unlock so many memories for '90s kids.
While the first season of That '90s Show featured episode titles that directly referenced situations in the episode, the second season — a.k.a. parts 2 and 3 — picked up a tradition from its sire series. Beginning with the fifth season, every season of That '70s Show dedicated its episode titles to a popular band from the '70s. Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Rolling Stones, and Queen were all honored.

The hand sign used by Itadori symbolizes Kṣitigarbha, a monk and bodhisattva highly respected in East Asian Buddhism. With Jujutsu Kaisen nearing its conclusion, the unexpected plot twists by Gege Akutami in Chapter 264 are driving fans crazy. There’s already a lot of excitement about Yuji’s domain expansion, and now his hand sign is adding even more intrigue.
Itadori Yuji from Shibuya Arc in Jujutsu Kaisen | Mappa
The hand sign may seem like Sukuna’s, but its meaning is different. If the predictions are correct about Kṣitigarbha, then Sukuna may lose to Itadori. We have already seen Itadori’s domain expansion, which is a train station where he takes Sukuna to continue their battle.
Who is Kṣitigarbha and how is he connected to Jujutsu Kaisen?
Kṣitigarbha was a Buddhist monk, who took a vow that he wouldn’t achieve Buddhahood until all hells were emptied.

After several years, and a few unexpected twists, Nirvana and Marc Jacobs have settled a copyright dispute over the band’s smiley face logo, which also raised questions about the origins of the famous symbol.
Nirvana first brought the suit in Dec. 2018, accusing Marc Jacobs of copyright and trademark infringement over a T-shirt they said ripped off the band’s signature happy face design — with X’d out eyes, squiggly smile, and tongue sticking out. Spoiler Alert! The article contains spoilers for The Boys.
Since 2019, Eric Kripke’s The Boys have been taking jabs at Marvel and DC. The show has featured a sociopath, psychotic version of Superman in Antony Starr’s Homelander, and an unhinged version of Captain America with Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy, who was America’s Son.

However, the R-rated show is not stopping anytime soon because, in the 5th episode of Season 4, titled Beware the Jabberwock, My Son, Kripke takes a jab at Robert Pattinson’s The Batman.
During the Vought Expo scene, where the Supes were talking about their upcoming film and TV Series, Derek Wilson’s Tek Knight came on the stage, where he decided to satirize DC by targetting Batman and using Nirvana as the point of reference to ridicule the character.

“Bridgerton” Season 3 is here, and with it comes a new collection of string covers of iconic pop songs. The Shondaland Netflix series made a mark with its first season by packing the regency-era period story with string quartet covers of modern pop songs, and the trend continues in the new season that puts the focus on a romance between Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin (Luke Newton).
“Bridgerton” Season 3 Part 1 also features the Netflix show’s first-ever original song: “All I Want” is written by Rogét Chahayed (Doja Cat’s “Kiss Me More”), Wesley Singerman (Jennifer Lopez’s “Butterfly”), Taylor Dexter (Joji’s “Die for You”) and Nicole Cohen (Meghan Trainor’s “Sensitive”). Tori Kelly performs the song on the soundtrack, and the orchestral version was arranged by “Bridgerton” composer Kris Bowers.

Nirvana have paid tribute to Steve Albini by sharing the four-page letter he sent the band before agreeing to record their beloved final studio album, In Utero. Albini passed away yesterday (May 8th) at the age of 61.
The letter was posted on Nirvana’s official Twitter account, accompanied simply by the caption, “Steve Albini.” In the document, Albini outlines his steadfast philosophies, both regarding his approach to recording and his approach to business. Effectively, it’s Albini responding to Kurt Cobain’s request to produce the album by saying, “Only if we do it right.”
“I think the very best thing you could do at this point is exactly what you are talking about doing: bang a record out in a couple of days, with high quality but minimal ‘production’ and no interference from the front office bulletheads. Kid sisters Aixa (age 9) and Nirvana (age 11) are following in the footsteps of fellow music prodigy Nandi Bushell with their impressive TikTok channel of heavy metal cover songs.
Hailing from a musical family, Aixa and Nirvana performed alongside their parents in many of their early clips, but lately they’ve been tackling impressive renditions of songs by Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, and Iron Maiden all by themselves.
Nirvana handles guitar and vocals while Aixa lays down the rhythm behind a huge drum kit that threatens to engulf her. But for their age, the sisters already sound like seasoned vets.
Their cover of the Maiden classic “The Trooper” is a prime example and has already amassed over 22 million views on TikTok. Director Jun Robles Lana is a committed advocate of all queer aspects of life, which he has portrayed in his body of work with contrasting tones of voice, from the theatrical colorfulness of “Die Beautiful” to the dark realism of “Kalel, 15”. “Becky & Badette” sits without a doubt in the former group and, despite not being strictly (no pun intended) a gay story, is as camp as Christmas. A mix of classic comedy of errors and the familiar “high school reunion” genre, peppered with many innuendos and Filipino in-jokes, “Becky & Badette” is pure fun from start to end, and also one of those films you can imagine the cast and crew having a great time while shooting it.
