He and his wife Annette Tison were the creators of the books and TV series "Barbapapa". According to them, Talus heard a child asking for "barbe à papa" in French. He asked Annette what was the child was saying? she said that child wants candy floss. So they drew the father like pink candy floss and invented other family members.
