‘Reacher’ Creator Admits the Series Is Struggling to Handle 1 Specific Problem
Image
Amazon’s Reacher has become one of Prime Video’s biggest hits, breaking streaming records with its third season and proving that Alan Ritchson’s book-accurate Jack Reacher is exactly what fans of Lee Child’s novels have been waiting for. But behind the scenes, the series is grappling with one major challenge — and according to Child himself, it’s not one that’s going away anytime soon. The big issue, according to Child, is the fact Reacher doesn't stick around anywhere.

Just as in the 29 novels, the TV version of Reacher is an wandering former military police officer who drifts from town to town, always stumbling into new trouble,...

Jack Reacher Author Lee Child Feels The Prime Video Series Has One Big Problem Each Season
Image
Having long since established itself as a show that justifies a subscription to Amazon's streamer, "Reacher" recently broke Prime Video ratings records with its third season. The basic formula of a large man beating people senseless for eight episodes in a row has surprisingly resonated with, well, dads probably. But there's a pulpy charm to the show that appeals to any action fan. Star Alan Ritchson is also a big part of the show's success, finally gifting fans of Lee Child's novels, on which the show is based, a book-accurate depiction of the titular hero.

As such, it might seem as if the writers have it easy: adapt an already popular book,...

Alan Ritchson’s Fan-Favorite Action Series Falls Down Streaming Charts Ahead of Season 4
Image
After riding high with record-breaking viewership for Season 3, Reacher has finally hit a bump. The Alan Ritchson-led Prime Video juggernaut has officially fallen out of the streamer’s Top 10 in the U.S., just weeks after wrapping its best-reviewed season to date. On its own, that might not be a huge cause for concern – after all, most shows cool off once the season ends – but for Reacher, the dip comes at a moment of serious turbulence behind the scenes.

On August 7, following the Skydance-Paramount merger, the entire franchise shifted homes. Reacher, its planned spin-off Neagley, and Prime Video’s Cross all moved under the newly revived Paramount TV...

Move Over Alan Ritchson This Jack Reacher Is Gaining Audiences' Attention on Streaming
Image
Lee Child’s Jack Reacher never ceases to amuse, whether it's the big screen adaptation or the small screen one. The promise of the titular character being a perfect mix of brains and brawn keeps bringing the audience back to the screen. Before Alan Ritchson gave fans the iconic portrayal of the beloved character, Tom Cruise took up the role and excelled in it on the big screen. Now the Christopher McQuarrie-directed movie has fans’ attention.

Per FlixPatrol, the 2012 action-thriller Jack Reacher is in Pluto TV’s top 10 charts. The movie stands tall at number 8 in a list that also features Cillian Murphy’s 28 Days Later, Harrison Ford’s The Fugitive,...

How Jack Reacher Author Lee Child Chooses Which Book Prime Video Will Adapt Next
Image
There are 29 "Jack Reacher" novels published so far, and over a dozen short stories. There is no shortage of material for the "Reacher" TV series to work with, which is great except for one crucial problem: when it comes time to get to work on the new season, how does the show choose which book to adapt next? The obvious choice would be to go in chronological order, but "Reacher" abandoned this approach as early as its second season, which jumped far past the second novel to adapt the eleventh.

The "Jack Reacher" books are all fairly standalone thanks to Reacher's deep unwillingness to stay in one place or make permanent friends, which means there are few downsides to the show's approach of picking whichever book interests them the most. There'll need to be occasional adaptative changes, sure, but never anything serious.

In a February 2025 interview with Reuters, author Lee Child...

Henry Cavill & Alan Ritchson's WW2 Box Office Miss Is a Global Streaming Hit 1 Year Later
Image
The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is finally a hit. After bombing at the box office, the Guy Ritchie-directed action movie has found new success on streaming.

FlixPatrol is reporting that The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is currently ranked No. 3 on HBO Max's Top 10 Movies Worldwide chart. After only grossing $29.7 million at the box office last year, this marks a noticeable improvement for the action movie, which features Henry Cavill, Eiza González, Alan Ritchson, Henry Golding, and Alex Pettyfer among its star-studded ensemble. The movie was based on Damien Lewis' book Churchill's Secret Warriors: The Explosive True Story of the Special Forces Desperadoes of WWII, which documents Winston Churchill's first 'deniable' secret operative force to operate behind enemy lines in World War II.

While based on real events, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare portrays a heavily fictionalized version of the role played by Churchill's Special Operations Executive in Operation Postmaster.

“He was soon borne away by the waves, and lost in darkness and distance.”

Before Reacher Fame, Alan Ritchson Thought He’d Be Fired From This Comedy Show
Image
Before Alan Ritchson became a household name as Jack Reacher in Prime Video‘s hit series Reacher, he feared he’d be fired from the comedy sitcom Blue Mountain State. Ritchson played the loud-mouthed linebacker Kevin “Thad” Castle in the series. In a 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ritchson revealed that during the early days of the series, he believed his time on the show would be short-lived. Ritchson said,

I’m not sure my character was ever supposed to grow on the show. I think he was supposed to be an antagonistic character for a season. So I felt like my job was in jeopardy every day.

Desperate to stay relevant, Ritchson brought maximum energy to every scene, sometimes too much for his co-stars. He used to steal every scene and fill every frame, even doing a wild Michael Jackson dance in the background. He recalled,

I would get yelled at all the time,...

'Reacher' Creator Admits Season 4 Story Created Massive Problems
Image
After breaking viewership records with Season 3, Reacher is officially facing its biggest challenge yet: following it up. The Alan Ritchson-led series has only grown in popularity since its 2022 debut, with Season 3—based on Lee Child’sPersuader—serving up a brutal, satisfying thriller that many fans and critics called the show’s best outing to date. But adapting the best novel in the series this early has its consequences. Namely: where do you go from there? According to Child himself, even the next book up, Gone Tomorrow, posed significant hurdles during the writing process—especially when it came to geography.

“That was my sort of homage to New York,” Child told noted book person Stephen King during a public conversation at the GBH Forum Network. “I was living there at the time and writing the book completely accurately. But the accuracy turned out to be a pain.”

At one point,...

How Jack Reacher Got His Name, According To Author Lee Child
Image
A good and memorable character needs a great name. Han Solo, Indiana Jones, Hercule Poirot, Duncan Idaho — even without knowing their reputation and impact, these names evoke a sense of importance and badassery. Similarly, Lee Child's Jack Reacher is a name that already evokes a certain image before one even reads the many, many, many ways Child describes his character's dinner plate-sized hands.

Sometimes, a name has some grand significance, a hidden meaning, or a homage to something else. Other times, an author can come up with a name due to a silly comment from a loved one. Speaking to January Magazine, Lee Child revealed his wife was the one to come up with the name "Reacher" while out shopping one day. It was when he decided to become a full-time novelist, during the writing of Child's first book, "Killing Floor." At this point, Child hadn't come up with...

Jack Reacher Author Lee Child Struggled To Write Season 4's Book For One Reason
Image
It's no surprise that "Reacher" season 3 broke a Prime Video viewing record. The Alan Ritchson-led series proved hugely popular when it debuted in 2022, and while season 2 was somewhat of a rocky patch for the show, the third "Reacher" outing was based on the very best book in Lee Child's original series, "Persuader." That means we got Ritchson's ex-military man skulking around a mansion trying to solve the disappearance of an informant and uncover the secret behind Zachary Beck's (Anthony Michael Hall) shady rug business. The whole thing was made even better by the fact Jack Reacher faced off against his most formidable foe yet in the form of Olivier Richters' gigantic bodyguard Paulie.

All of that added up to arguably the best season of the series yet, which poses a problem for the show's writers going forward. Once you've adapted the best Jack Reacher novel, where do you go next?...

Exclusive: Prolific doc makers from both sides of the Atlantic are teaming up for a doc series on Afrobeats icon Fela Kuti.

Academy Award winner Roger Ross Williams and his One Story Up banner has teamed with BAFTA-winning UK producer Andy Mundy-Castle’s DocHearts to create the program, which we understand is likely to be a four-part limited series on the African music pioneer.

Access has been secured to those close to the late Nigerian star, whose funeral in 1997 attracted hundreds of thousands of people. His focus on meshing West African music with funk and jazz, along with his ultra-charismatic performances, made him one of the 20th Century’s most important musicians, influencing the likes of Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Jay-Z and Kanye West.

How Jack Reacher Quietly Solves One Of The Biggest Problems With Crime Thrillers
Image
In Lee Child's "Jack Reacher" novel series, the titular protagonist is always on the go. As someone who doesn't want to settle down in one place, Reacher travels a lot, squatting in abandoned buildings and carrying nothing except a toothbrush and an Atm card. Sometimes when he's on a mission, Reacher has to ditch his cellphone too, but the upside of having very little to your name is the gift of anonymity. As he owns nothing that can be traced back to his past as an army major, Reacher can assume any identity he wants without raising immediate suspicion.

Jack Reacher has never been a conventional heroic figure, as Child frames him as a morally sound Goliath who sticks to his own code. This complexity has generated enthusiastic reader/audience interest in Reacher's everyday life, as he does everything a traditional hero doesn't, but still manages to look like...

Jack Reacher's Creator Thought This Core Part Of The Character Wouldn't Work
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Whether you're a fan of the Jack Reacher books or Prime Video's massively popular "Reacher" series, you've no doubt wondered at times how the character manages to get himself caught up in so many debacles, conspiracies, and general precarious situations. On the literary side, there are now 29 Jack Reacher novels as well as a collection of short stories, which means the titular character has managed to get himself caught up in bad luck and trouble — to use the title of the 11th book in the series — literally dozens of times.

With three seasons of "Reacher," we've also seen the ex-military policeman embroiled in some sort of nefarious scheme three times in a row, thwarting a small-town conspiracy, killing the man responsible for offing his former squad members, and bringing down an international arms dealer. With season 3 of "Reacher" breaking a huge Prime Video viewing record,...

Jack Reacher's Creator Feels One Book Can't Be Adapted For The Prime Video Series
Image
"Reacher" has been a major hit for Prime Video and, as such, looks set to continue for some time to come. Viewers certainly aren't going anywhere if season 3 of the show is anything to go by. After a few things went wrong with season 2 of "Reacher," the series came out swinging for season 3, delivering a run of episodes that proved the best action show on TV has gotten its mojo back. As series lead Alan Ritchson's star continues to rise in the wake of the show's success, then, it seems the only future hurdle Prime Video and the "Reacher" writers will have to overcome is their lead's availability.

One problem they certainly don't have to worry about is source material. With 29 books in Lee Child's Jack Reacher series, as well as a short story collection and the promise of more novels to come courtesy of Child's brother,...

Today's a Sad Day for Reacher Fans
Image
The Jack Reacher franchise has taken a blow amid the ongoing streaming wars. The original feature film starring Tom Cruise had been rising on free streaming, but now the action flick is starting to fall back down.

Per FlixPatrol, Jack Reacher has dropped three slots on Pluto TV's Top 10 list of movies currently available for streaming. Russell Crowe's Gladiator and Angelina Jolie's two Tomb Raider movies cracked the list in the third, fourth and fifth spots to send Jack Reacher, Four Brothers, and The Wolf of Wall Street down. 28 Days Later and Titanic are holding the top two spots, respectively.

Released in 2012, Jack Reacher was directed by Tom Cruise's frequent collaborator, Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning helmer Christopher McQuarrie. Based on Lee Child's One Shot, the film featured Cruise taking on the titular role, following Jack as he aids in the investigation of a murderous sniper.

‘Reacher’ Season 4: Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette Joins in Recasting
Image
Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette has joined the cast of “Reacher” Season 4 in a recasting.

He is set to play a new character, small-town policeman Jacob Merrick, in the Prime Video series, taking over for Jay Baruchel, who exited the series for personal reasons, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap. The news comes just weeks after Baruchel’s casting in the new season was announced.

Rodriguez-Marquette will star opposite Alan Ritchson, who plays the titular Jack Reacher, a former military policeman who solves crimes and paves out his own brand of street justice. He also joins cast members Anthony Michael Hall, Sonya Cassidy, Brian Tee, Johnny Berchtold, Robert Montesinos, Daniel David Stewart and Olivier Richter.

Rodriguez-Marquette is best known for appearing as Chris Lucado in “Barry,” and can also be seen in “Just Friends,” “The Girl Next Door,” “Magnum P.I.,” “Sour Party,” “Rzr” and “The Fugitive.”

Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette Joins ‘Reacher’ Season 4 In Recasting
Image
Exclusive: Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette (Barry) has joined Reacher Season 4 opposite Alan Ritchson in a recasting, Deadline has learned.

Rodriguez-Marquette will play Jacob Merrick, a small-town policeman. He takes over the role — which is said to be a meaty one this season — from Jay Baruchel, who was forced to exit the series to attend to a personal matter. Baruchel had only been announced as joining the cast a couple of weeks ago.

Sources said that part of what was notable about the experience for Rodriguez-Marquette is that he was cast the same day the breakdown for the role went out, and was flown out to set within a couple of days.

Created by Nick Santora, who also writes, execs produces and serves as showrunner, Reacher is based on the novels by Lee Child. The fourth season of the dramatic actioner adapts the 13th book in the global bestselling series, Gone Tomorrow. When...

Alan Ritchson Fans Send Reacher Rising on the Streaming Charts as They Await Season 4
Image
Alan Ritchson fans are sending his Amazon Prime Video series Reacher climbing up the charts. Reacher Season 4 has already been confirmed to be on the way.

FlixPatrol reports that Reacher is up one spot, now at #9 on the Amazon Prime Overall Top 10 in the United States on June 25, 2025, which includes both film and television. On the TV charts, Reacher is doing even better, holding onto the #5 spot as one of the streamer's best-performing series. Reacher stars Ritchson as the titular character, a former U.S. Army military police officer who lives as a drifter, traveling the country and facing off against dangerous criminals.

The first season of Reacher premiered on Prime Video in 2022 and was immediately a hit, with both fans and critics enjoying the show's intense action. The series is based on the Jack Reacher novels by Lee Child, with each season adapting a different book in the series. The...

Alan Ritchson's 96% Rt Crime Thriller Show Is Still Crushing It On Global Streaming Charts Months After Season 3's Record-Breaking Release
Image
Amazon Prime Video's popular crime thriller series Reacher is still impressively dominating global streaming charts several months after season 3 was released in February 2025. Led by Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher, a former military police officer and special investigator, Reacher follows a similar format each season as the "retired" soldier tours the United States as a nomad who always finds himself in the thick of a mystery or conspiracy. The first season of Reacher adapted Lee Child's debut novel Killing Floor, before season 2 dove into Reacher's military past with Child's 11th book, Bad Luck and Trouble.

Reacher is still #5 on Prime Video's global streaming charts, three months after Reacher season 3 broke viewership records for Amazon Prime Video. According to FlixPatrol, it's been in Prime's top 10 for 174 days. This cements the crime action series as a flagship franchise for Amazon Prime Video, one that the streaming platform will likely aim...

Alan Ritchson confirms which Lee Child book will inspire Reacher season 4
Image
Reacher season 4 is heading to New York City, and it looks like the Prime Video show is adapting Gone Tomorrow. Alan Ritchson recently posted a selfie on Instagram of him holding a copy of Lee Child’s Gone Tomorrow.

The TV show hasn’t followed Lee Child’s books chronologically. It started with the Reacher novel Killing Floor, then leapt ahead to the 11th book in the series, Bad Luck and Trouble. Season 3 then jumped back to book 7, Persuader. The team seem to be picking the more action-packed books rather than following the strict timeline.

The author admits that the books are written in a way that means you don’t need to read in order. "I want them to be able to read that as equal to any other book in the series," he told Men's Journal earlier this year. So, it doesn’t matter than the fourth season is the 13th book.

How Much Beck's Mansion From Reacher Season 3 Costs In Real Life
Image
"Reacher" season 3 was based on the best of Lee Child's Jack Reacher books: "Persuader." That meant we finally got to see Child's hulking hero skulking around a mansion on-screen for the first time, and judging by the fact "Reacher" season 3 broke a huge Prime Video record, it was all a big success.

Season 3 of the popular streaming series saw the titular ex-Army officer infiltrating the mansion of shady rug salesman Zachary Beck, played by Anthony Michael Hall. DEA agent Susan Duffy (Sonya Cassidy) previously sent one of her informants into Beck's operation, only for her to go missing, which is why Reacher is tasked with following in her footsteps and uncovering the secrets of Beck's dodgy dealings. The rest of the season was a delight for action fans as we essentially got to see Alan Ritchson's Reacher taking down an entire crew from within. As /Film's Jacob Hall put it,...

'Reacher' Creator Gives Disappointing Update on Which Novels Alan Ritchson Will Adapt
Image
Bad news for snowbound thriller lovers: if you were hoping to see 61 Hours adapted in a future season of Reacher, it's probably not happening. In an interview, Lee Child confirmed that some books from his long-running Jack Reacher series are simply “impossible” to adapt for television — and yes, 61 Hours tops the list. That revelation puts a bit of a chill on fans’ dreams of seeing every Reacher book brought to life by Alan Ritchson and Prime Video’s action juggernaut.

So far, the show has skipped around the series’ chronology, adapting Killing Floor (Book 1), Bad Luck and Trouble (Book 11), and Persuader (Book 7), with Gone Tomorrow (Book 13) confirmed for Season 4. But if you were hoping the series might do the full 25+ book run, Child’s comments may have just thrown a wrench in that theory.

So which books are on the chopping block? Child singled out 61 Hours, the fourteenth novel in the series,...

The Funniest Thing About Reacher Season 4, According To Alan Ritchson
Image
There are no action shows quite like "Reacher" on TV. On the surface, it's a fun-but-ridiculous series about a literally larger-than-life man with fists the size of Thanksgiving turkeys who beats the ever-living, ever-loving, compound, complex hell out of corrupt people. But the show is more than that. Sure, it's funny as hell, mostly because of the deadpan comedic talents of Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson), but it's also a thrilling mystery series with compelling villains, memorable side characters, badass women action heroes, and much more. "Reacher" is a simple show, the ultimate power fantasy, and an absolute delight.

Mind you, the series works mostly because of its star. Ritchson perfectly captures the stoicism and the warmth of Reacher, along with his deadpan comedy. Indeed, his take on Reacher is often funny as hell, which makes his turn to a hulking monstrosity that beats dudes with his bare fists the size...

The Main Inspirations Behind Jack Reacher, According To His Creator
Image
Jack Reacher is big on minding his own business. This army major-turned-vagrant packs very light (just a lone toothbrush!) and drifts from one town to another without a set agenda in mind. But trouble always finds Reacher, who never hesitates to spring into action in the face of injustice. While Reacher never goes out of his way to seek trouble, his unconventional moral code leads him to places where even the best law enforcement officers wouldn't dare go in with a gun.

And sometimes, Reacher is left without a weapon to defend himself, but that doesn't stop him from beating the bad guys into a pulp or throwing them off tall buildings. I mean, that is what his hulking muscles are for, but Lee Child's "Reacher" novel series never reduces its protagonist to a shallow exhibition of machismo. Child etches Reacher as a formidable physical force, but also invests...

Ahead of Season 4, 'Reacher's Alan Ritchson Admits One Detail Made Him "Cheer Out Loud"
Image
Jack Reacher may be stoic, but Alan Ritchson? Not so much. In fact, when the Reacher star came across a single line in the early Lee Childnovels about the legendary loner’s thinning hair, he says he “cheered out loud.” Why? Because it meant one thing: longevity. “There’s no pressure here to like, maintain my youth as we go through this, so I don't care,” Ritchson told Empire. “I’ll keep shooting as long as people will have me.”

With Reacher Season 4 officially adapting Gone Tomorrow — the 13th book in Child’s bestselling series — that “as long as people will have me” is looking like a pretty long time.

Amazon has confirmed that Gone Tomorrow will serve as the blueprint for Season 4, continuing the tradition of adapting one Reacher novel per season. This time, the story begins with a tragic encounter on a New York City subway and spirals...

One of Prime Video’s runaway hits, Reacher, is ready to invite eight more actors to the party for its upcoming Season 4 production. ‘Reacher’ Season 4 Is Heading to a Brand-New City as Alan Ritchson Teases His Most Dangerous Mission Yet
Image
The big guy is trading backroads for subway lines — and he’s not thrilled about it. Reacher Season 4 is officially heading to New York City, and according to Alan Ritchson, it’s going to be his most dangerous mission yet. The Prime Video juggernaut has been keeping fans guessing about what’s next, but Ritchson just dropped a meaty hint on Instagram: a selfie showing him holding Gone Tomorrow — one of Lee Child’s most paranoia-fueled thrillers — along with a cheeky caption:

“The thing about subway cars is you step on one and you never know what’s going to happen.”

If you’ve read Gone Tomorrow, you know what’s coming: conspiracy, chaos, and a woman’s mysterious death that sets off a chain reaction of high-level cover-ups, deep-state operatives, and Reacher doing what he does best — smashing lies (and faces) to get to the truth.

The move...

Reacher Season 4 Is Based On The Lee Child Book With The Most Bonkers Reveal In The Whole Series
Image
"Reacher" fans, believe me when I say you're going to want to keep a close eye on this one. The Prime Video series has quickly become must-watch, appointment viewing for dads and action junkies everywhere. Buoyed by Alan Ritchson's super-accurate casting as the hulking vigilante Jack Reacher and the entire creative team's penchant for translating author Lee Child's novels into faithful adaptations on the screen, the streaming show has had no problems whatsoever keeping the good times rolling. That's about to give way to an impending fourth season that appears to be taking its cues from one of the most unforgettable books in the entire series.

After season 3 adapted Child's "Persuader," pitting Reacher against as big a foe as he's ever had the misfortune of crossing paths with, season 4 looks set to up the ante even more. The news comes courtesy of Ritchson himself, who posted on...

Alan Ritchson Confirms Jack Reacher Novel for Season 4 of Prime Video Series
Image
It's official: Reacher Season 4 will adapt Gone Tomorrow. The 2009 novel is the thirteenth entry in Lee Child's Jack Reacher series.

After sharing a teaser image yesterday that many fans correctly guessed was hinting at Gone Tomorrow being the source material for Reacher Season 4, the official Instagram accounts for the Prime Video show and series Alan Ritchson have jointly announced that Gone Tomorrow will serve as the basis for the fourth season. The first season of Reacher adapted Child's first novel to feature the title character, Killing Floor, while the second and third seasons tackled Bad Luck and Trouble and Persuader, the eleventh and seventh entries in the beloved series, respectively.

Alan Ritchson Reveals 'Reacher' Season 4 is Adapting One of Lee Child's Most Thrilling Novels
Image
Reacher star Alan Ritchson has confirmed what fans of the Lee Child novels have been buzzing about for weeks: Season 4 of Prime Video’s hit action series will adapt Gone Tomorrow, one of the author’s most nerve-wracking and conspiracy-laced thrillers. Ritchson himself revealed the news on Instagram following a tease from Child himself last night. The actor posted a selfie in which he was holding a copy of the novel in his comically giant hand, making it seem like a tiny book for The Borrowers. Ritchson's caption included this tease:

“The thing about subway cars is you step on one and you never know what’s going to happen.”

In Gone Tomorrow, Reacher’s instincts prove tragically correct when a woman he’s observing on the train suddenly dies in front of him, but something about the aftermath doesn’t add up. Driven by his gut and armed with...

Reacher Season 4 Reveals the 16-Year-Old Book It Will Adapt
Image
A new tease for the fourth season of Reacherhas been revealed by Lee Child, the author of the original book series that the hit Prime Video show is based on. Fans of the books me also see the update as a tease for which book is inspiring the plot of Season 4.

A new image was shared on Instagram by the official account for Child on X. The photo shows what seems to be a script for Reacher Season 4 on the seat of a subway car, though the author only stated in the caption, "Reacher S4..." It could be a coincidence that the script is on a subway car, or this more likely could be a clue that Season 4 will be based on 2009's Gone Tomorrow, one of Child's Jack Reacher novels that begins with the character traveling on a subway in New York City when the action begins. Image
It's official: Neagley has wrapped production on its first season. The filming update was given by series lead Maria Sten, who is reprising her role from Reacher as Frances Neagley.

Sten revealed that filming had wrapped on the Reacher spinoff over the past weekend with a post on Instagram. Alongside a bloody behind-the-scenes photo, which suggests that Neagley will find herself part of more than one intense fight in the spinoff, Sten wrote the following: "that’s a wrap on [Neagley] season 1! this story is so so special, folks. I cannot wait for you all to see what we’ve cooked up! I hope you’re ready cause it’s gonna be a wild one!"

The 'Jack Reacher' Adaptation the Author Called a "Mistake" Is Suddenly Topping Streaming Charts
Image
Before Alan Ritchson was turning the role into his own bone-crunching phenomenon, one of the biggest actors in Hollywood history took his own crack at Jack Reacher. The film is directed by Cruise's long-time collaborator, Christopher McQuarrie, who also helms the pair's current big box office blockbuster, Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning. The 2012 Jack Reacher movie may have faded into some obscurity given the success of future Cruise projects and Ritchson's aforementioned Prime Video series, but a recent spotlight on the pair has helped the film find sudden streaming success.

Officially, as of Sunday, June 8, 2025, Jack Reacher is one of the ten most-streamed movies on Pluto TV in the US. At #7 in the list, the film is doing battle with a host of high-profile titles, from two Mission: Impossible movies, including the first entry in the franchise and Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, to the highly acclaimed horror 28 Days Later.

Alan Ritchson Had To Film Multiple Takes During Reacher Season 1 For A Good Reason
Image
Since Lee Child started writing his popular book series back in 1997, fans have come to love the character of Jack Reacher to the extent that they have very strict rules regarding how he should be portrayed on-screen. Child wrote the ex-military policeman as the ultimate action hero, and created a legion of dedicated fans with rigid ideas about the character's personality in the process. Not only is Reacher wily enough to always be one step ahead of his foes, he's larger than pretty much any adversary he'll ever face (except for the enormous henchman Paulie from "Persuader" who was recently played by Olivier Richters in "Reacher" season 3).

Physicality has always been a major consideration when it comes to Jack Reacher. When Tom Cruise was cast in the 2012 film adaptation of Child's books, the Los Angeles Times asked "Is Tom Cruise big enough to carry Jack Reacher?" As the outlet noted...

Alan Ritchson Had To Cut His Reacher Weight For An Overlooked Drama
Image
Before Alan Ritchson, fans of Lee Child's Jack Reacher novels had been waiting some time for a book-accurate version of their favorite hero to debut on-screen. Tom Cruise's two Jack Reacher movies failed to deliver on that front, but when Alan Ritchson arrived in Prime Video's "Reacher" series in 2022, long-suffering fans were finally satiated.

Ritchson seemed born to play the role of a hulking former military policeman. At 6-foot 3-inches and 235 pounds, the actor was every bit the brute of the books, and whereas physique typically wouldn't necessarily be the most important aspect of a character (just look at Michael Keaton in his two Batman movies), with Reacher, it's a central aspect of the man's appeal and Mo.

Ritchson himself clearly took the responsibility of delivering on that front seriously. Prior to the debut of "Reacher," the actor actually put himself in the hospital trying to achieve the ideal weight.

M3GAN 2.0 | The final trailer lands
Image
A new look, a new film and a new trailer. That must mean that M3GAN 2.0 is almost upon us. More here…

Killer doll M3gan is set to return this month, presumably in another blaze of memes that will break the internet if the last time was anything to go by.

It didn’t surprise anybody when Blumhouse and Atomic Monster commissioned the return of M3gan, the killer doll that has dominated social media trends in 2023, powering interest in the hugely successful movie as it earned good reviews on the way to becoming a resounding commercial success.

Akela Cooper, the writer of the first film, has returned to pen the sequel as has Gerard Johnstone, the first film’s director. Actors, Allison Williams and Violet McGraw are also on board to return in the sequel. Here’s the synopsis:

How Much Money Does Alan Ritchson's Jack Reacher Make?
Image
Traveling the United States punching people is a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it. For now, that somebody is Alan Ritchson's Jack Reacher. The lead character in Prime Video's inordinately popular "Reacher" is a hulking 6-foot 3-inch beast with a military background and an inability to countenance even the smallest injustice. As such, he constantly finds himself at the center of trouble.

In season 1 of "Reacher," Ritchson's hero investigated the dodgy dealings of a criminal organization in the small town of Margrave, Georgia. Season 2 saw him travel to New York City to avenge the deaths of former members of his Army unit, while season 3 involved the ex-military policeman hunting down an old nemesis who hijacked a rug business as a front for arms dealing. That's a heck of a lot of "bad luck and trouble," to use the title of the Lee Child book on which season 2 of "Reacher" is based.

Cannes Awards Predictions: Deadline’s Critics Make Their Picks For This Year’s Palme D’Or & Other Main Prizes
Image
As the lights go up on the last of the 22 films in Competition this year, Deadline’s critics reflect on the potential winners in what must be the strongest lineup in recent years…

Pete Hammond

I don’t think I’ve seen a Cannes Film Festival with so many enthusiastic reviews from the press. Only a handful of films seemed to get totally negative notices and none of them across the board. I walked out on a couple, including Resurrection, the Chinese film. Life is just too short. I also didn’t make it through Sebastian Lelio’s The Wave, or the Italian women’s prison flick Fuori despite liking Italians and its star Valeria Golino. I just wasn’t feeling it.

Otherwise, I have to say everything else I saw was above average but some of it overpraised in other quarters. Calm down! I mean, The Secret Agent was good,...

Since October 2024, when the Reacher spinoff was greenlit by Prime Video, fans have been wondering if Ritchson would make a cameo as Jack Reacher. While no official casting announcement has been made, Ritchson is now confirmed to appear in Neagley, with his cameo spoiled by the MLB of all people. After Ritchson was spotted filming a scene with Sten a few days ago in the stands at an actual Cubs game, the official X account for the MLB shared a couple of photos of the two actors in the stands. Scotland’s Stv Invests In Former Channel 4 Commissioner’s Branded Content Indie, Merges TV & Streaming Units And Eyes Big Studios Growth
Image
Scotland’s Stv is continuing to build its production suite by investing in former Channel 4 exec Joe Churchill’s new digital outfit, Fan Club.

At the same time, the commercial network is bringing its linear and streaming services together in one unit, while its CEO says there is “no ceiling” for international growth at production wing Stv Studios.

In a deal announced at a Capital Markets Event this morning in the UK, Stv has taken a minority stake in Fan Club for an undisclosed amount, taking the number of indie producers in its stable to 22.

Fan Club differs to the others in that it’s positioned as a branded content specialist that focuses on turning brands into broadcasters, developing channel identities and content strategies and growing audiences on brands’ owned and operated channels.

Churchill led commissioning at Channel 4’s social branded entertainment unit, working on expansion deals for shows...
