It's a big news day for Nyaight of the Living Cat! The upcoming feline invasion anime is just a month away, and a new trailer has just dropped a cat-astrophically huge bundle of details including new cast, opening and ending theme performers and a premiere date. The new trailer and key visual announce the anime will first premiere on the Abema streaming service on July 6, with July 7 being the broadcast premiere — 7/7 being pronounced "nana-na". Crunchyroll will also stream the series as it premieres in Japan . Takashi Miike in 13 Assassins (2010)
Executive Director Takashi Miike (Lumberjack the Monster, Audition) is unleashing the most adorable armageddon yet in animated post-apocalyptic comedy series Nyaight of the Living Cat. Though the new trailer isn’t kitten around with the meowpocalypse.

The new series will officially begin streaming on Crunchyroll starting on July 6, with new episodes streaming every Sunday in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, Cis, Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Macau.

The official synopsis:

“Run! The adorable cats are here. In 20Xx, the world is dominated by cats. A virus which turns anyone who touches a cat into a cat has spread into a worldwide nyandemic. Cats rub against people, turning them into cats. Can humanity fight their urge to pet cats to survive in this cat-ridden world?”

The series is an adaptation of the manga written by Hawkman and illustrated by Mecha-Roots.

Disney to Stream Sand Man Series by Dragon Ball Creator Akira Toriyama

Disney+ Star Japan has announced that it will stream Sand Land: The Series -- a new series adapted from a manga by Akira Toriyama of Dragon Ball fame -- that picks up from the events of the anime film, which debuted in Japan on Aug. 18.

Sand Land: The Series will stream under Disney+ Star's "Star Anime Series" starting in Spring 2024, with the official Sand Land website confirming that the title will be a new and continuing story following the events of the anime film adaptation. The series will deliver some fan service by featuring clips cut from the anime film as well as select scenes directly adapted from the manga. The announcement also came with a key visual, seen below, depicting Beelzebub, Thief and Rao riding a dune buggy.

Dragon Ball Creator’s Sand Land Anime Headed to North America

The North American premiere window for the movie adaptation of Akira Toriyama's Sand Land has been revealed.

According to Anime News Network, the film will officially arrive in North America sometime in 2024; however, Sand Land will be screened at Montreal's upcoming 26th Fantasia International Film Festival. The movie will debut in Japan on August 18, receiving IMAX, 4Dx, and MX4D releases; at the time of writing, it is unknown what type of release Sand Land will get in North American markets.

The film's trailer provided viewers with a glimpse of the story's unique blend of action and comedy. Akira Toriyama's Sand Land manga has received a much-wanted reprint.

Merry Manga announced the exciting information on Twitter, and the single volume that contains all 14 chapters is available to order on the company's website. Currently on sale for $7.25, the volume typically retails for $9.99.

Netflix Picks Up 12 New Anime Series Projects and Godzilla Movie; Watch Some Trailers!
Netflix is going all in on anime as they add the eagerly anticipated Godzilla movie and 12 other projects to their slate of upcoming programming. Deadline says in addition to the series the network is also overseeing the development of Cannon Busters, Devilman Crybaby, B: The Beginning, and Knights Of The Zodiac: Saint Seiya just to name a few.

The Godzilla and Saint Seiya grabs really show that Netflix is working to grab their Western audience who loves anime, but with competitors like Crunchyroll and Funimation (who was recently bought by Sony) in the mix, who knows if they'll be able to compete on that front. Time will tell, but the addition of so many projects seems promising for the future of anime on the platform.
