This article contains spoilers for "1923" season 2, episode 5, "Only Gunshots to Guide Us."
Taylor Sheridan's "1923" season 2 is putting all of its main characters through the wringer. The great state of Montana is engulfed in a harsh winter that makes life difficult for the Duttons, forcing them to contend with everything from wolves to Donald Whitfield (Timothy Dalton), a corrupt businessman who will stop at nothing to take their land. Elsewhere, Teonna Rainwater (Aminah Nieves) is being pursued by the ruthless, racist lawman Marshal Kent (Jamie McShane) for killing the nuns who abused her in a boarding school, and her boyfriend is probably dead following the events of episode 5.
For the most part, "1923" is an engaging tragedy with several plot threads worth investing in. However, the series isn't a home run across the board, as the storyline about newlyweds Alexandra (Julia Schlaepfer) and Spencer Dutton's (Brandon Sklenar) quest...

Love it or hate it, 1923 isn’t about to sugarcoat history. Season 2 is doubling down on one of Taylor Sheridan’s most controversial storytelling choices, and Madison Rogers is stepping in to defend it. While some fans argue it’s too brutal, Rogers insists it adds authenticity to the show’s raw, unfiltered depiction of the era.

The Western drama 1923, which is a spinoff sequel to 1883, and a prequel to Yellowstone, has received critical acclaim for its stories, cast, and performances. However, the drama doesn't fear tackling more serious subjects.
At the end of Season 1, Timothy Dalton's Donald Whitfield, a powerful business tycoon, showed exactly who he was with how he treated the two escorts, Lindy and Christy. His violent and demeaning self was further explored in the recently released Season 2, and things have gotten even worse than the violent acts they were made to perform in the series finale. However, when speaking with ScreenRant, Madison Elise Rogers, who plays Lindy, discussed the dynamics between Lindy and Donald and defended the storyline.

This article contains spoilers for the "1923" Season 2 premiere.
We are only one episode in, but "1923" Season 2 has already set up some intriguing drama for its upcoming episodes. The Duttons are low on numbers as Donald Whitfield (Timothy Dalton) and Banner Creighton (Jerome Flynn) up the ante in an effort to claim their land, made worse by the fact wolves and lions are invading the family's sought-after property. Elsewhere, newlyweds Spencer (Brandon Sklenar) and Alexandra Dutton (Julia Schlaepfer) have been separated in Europe and must find a way to get to Montana on their own, which won't be an easy task. Then again, when is life ever easy for the Duttons?
Despite this season boasting some compelling storylines, however, it isn't all good. Much like Season 1, this second installment already includes some unnecessary gross-out moments -- namely, Whitfield and his habit of making sex workers Lindy (Madison Elise Rogers...
