Born into a multigenerational Mexican-American family from the Imperial Valley and raised in San Diego, Gomez is also of Cuban, Puerto Rican, and Indian (Punjabi) descent. Shifting her focus from sports to the arts, she earned her B.A. at UCLA where she wrote, produced, & edited content for the on-campus television station, deepened her passion for musical theater, as well as worked on inspiring projects with the UCLA Art & Global Health Center blending arts and activism.
