A new first-look image from The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has been revealed. The image shows Ben Daniels in character as Crdan the Shipwright. Daniels' experience on The Exorcist and Interview with the Vampire has prepared him well for the iconic fantasy role.

A new The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power image reveals an incoming Elf character. The Prime Video fantasy series is a prequel to the Lord of the Rings trilogy set in J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-Earth millennia before Frodo's iconic adventure. Although there aren't many, there are several carryover characters are included in the prequel such as the immortal Elves Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) and Elrond (Robert Aramayo). The upcoming The Rings of Power season 2 is set to add even more performers to the ensemble cast including Ben Daniels, Calam Lynch, Ciarn Hinds, and Rory Kinnear.

With less than a month until The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power returns to screens, Prime Video is reintroducing an old character, albeit with a new face. Season 2 brings with it a few new additions to its staggering cast of characters, among which is the shipwright, Crdan, who fans of the Peter Jackson trilogy will remember from his brief appearances in The Fellowship of the Ring and The Return of the King. Instead of Michael Elsworth's wizened Master of the Grey Havens, the series will see a younger iteration of the character, played by Ben Daniels, take on a major role and a new image offers a sneak peek at how he'll appear.

Fans of Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power have reason to celebrate this week. Not only is season 2 of this epic series already under production, but according to The Hollywood Reporter a new character has also been announced for next season. Círdan, one of the oldest elves in Middle-earth, is set to join The Rings of Power’s ensemble.

While the role has not yet been cast for The Rings of Power, the Amazon series will not be this character’s first live-action appearance. In Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Círdan is played by Michael Elsworth and appears briefly in the first and third films.
