Sami Afuni was born Mohamad-Sami Afuni in Brisbane, Australia. His Mother Sadia El Sharkawi is Egyptian and his father Munir Afuni is Jordanian. Sami spent the first few years of his life in Brisbane before moving to Kuwait where he attended primary and middle school before moving back to Australia at the start of high school. The Arab-Australian started his entertainment career on the show the X Factor Australia where he was a finalist in 2016, then went on to complete a degree in Business before booking his first role in a feature film in 2020. Sami booked his first leading role in a series in 2021. In 2022, he made his theatre debut in the musical "Hamilton" playing the roles of Hercules Mulligan and James Madison.
