CBS Ghosts season 4 just missed the chance for a perfect casting opportunity for its highest-profile guest character. The series, starring Sam (Rose McIver) and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar), has an exciting history of introducing new characters into the mix. Its guest appearances often have unique and humorous ties to ghosts from various periods. For instance, Alberta Haynes hits it off with a famous baseball player from her day in Ghosts season 3, episode 7, "The Polterguest." Their connection made for a fun and memorable outing, even though their whirlwind romance didn't last.
Ghosts even featured Tara Reid in Ghosts season 2, episode 14, "Trevor's Body," tying back to Trevor Lefkowitz (Asher Grodman) and the story of how the ghost died. Adding new characters keeps the CBS comedy fresh. A new character will tie directly back to Isaac Higgintoot (Brandon Scott Jones), who has had a massive outing already, including a highlight in Ghosts season 4, episode 6, "The Primary Source.

Although Ghosts season 4 has other characters to follow too, the CBS sitcom’s first major character arc backfired because of a new arrival in the Woodstone Mansion. Ghosts season 4’s cast of characters added a new spirit to the show’s ever-growing lineup. Ghosts season 4’s Patience, played by Mary Holland, was a humorless Puritan who was kicked out of her colony in the 1600s as she was too fastidiously pious for the rest of the community. Patience was first introduced in season 3, but she only gained dialogue and screen time when she kidnapped Isaac.

Spoiler Alert for Ghosts season 4, episode 4, "The Work Retreat"

The Ghosts season 4 premiere introduced Mary Holland as Patience, a Puritan ghost trapped in the dirt after Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones) let go of her hand over a century ago while the spirits were navigating underground. Every season, Ghosts brings us a Halloween-themed episode. This year, the episode falls on Halloween, making it extra spook-tacular.
With Patience around, there are more connections to the past and the way people used to think. She’s a Puritan, and that plays a part in Ghosts season 4, episode 3. It’s time for witches to come up, and Patience won’t get the idea that it’s all fun and games.
Patience thinks Sam’s a witch in Ghosts season 4, episode 3
Of course, Sam and Jay want to get into the Halloween spirit. So do the rest of the ghosts, but this year is going to be a low-key one. They need to avoid seances and going into rooms with iron doors. Let’s not have any more ghosts show up!

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Ghosts season 4, episode 1.Ghosts season 4 finally brings back a character who hasnt been seen since the season 3 premiere, but it's easy to miss. The Ghosts season 4 premiere officially introduces Patience (Mary Holland), who kidnaps Isaac Higgintoot (Brandon Scott Jones) in the season 3 finale. The outing focuses on Isaac coming to terms with their unresolved history, which resulted in Patience settling in the house to join the other spirits of the Woodstone B&b. The process required all the ghosts' hands on deck, including this forgotten soul Crash.

Ghosts season 4 continues this cruel Sam trend, proving the series needs its Jay twist. Ahead of the Ghosts season 4 premiere, the series announced at ComicCon that Jay would be able to see the dead in the CBS show's upcoming installment. The twist will change the series' premise, which relies on Sams unique ability to see ghosts and Jays more grounded reality that audiences can connect with. Ghosts season 4 continues this cruel Sam trend, proving the series needs its Jay twist. Patience is an exciting, albeit terrifying, new character in Ghosts season 4, but her ending may be old news. Ghosts introduces the character in the season 3 finale, but she officially debuts in the season 4 premiere. We know a little about Sam’s parents. Her mom died, and Sam actually got to meet her ghosts in the first season. It was a cute but bittersweet moment for sure. Then in the second season, Sam mentioned divorce in the family.
Well, we may get some details about that divorce. Sam’s dad, played by the brilliant Dean Norris, is visiting Woodstone and he has a lady friend with him.
The father-daughter bond will be tested in Ghosts season 4, episode 2
Now that Patience is out of the ground and with the rest of the group, she is going to cause a few problems. Notably, she’s here to test the father-daughter bond. Is that linked to her feelings about her own father?...

The warm comedy “Ghosts” has been a hit for CBS, despite facing an at-times claustrophobic feeling over the years, perhaps spawned in part by being a show launched during the pandemic. Star Rose McIver, who plays Sam, broke down Season 4’s premiere for TheWrap and teased how this season opens up multiple new pathways for the show to explore and for new characters to enter its orbit.
The premiere of Patience
That first new pathway comes with the debut of new ghost, Patience, played by comedic actress Mary Holland (“Nightbitch”), in Thursday night’s premiere titled after her character. McIver praised Holland’s season-opening arc playing the traumatized Puritan ghost — but shared that the character had initially left her apprehensive due to an existing “Ghosts” prude.
“I had been a little concerned with potential overlap with her and Hetty as characters, Patience and Hetty being the sort of rule setters of the house,...

Spoiler Alert: This post contains details from the Season 4 premiere of CBS’ Ghosts.
Good news, Ghosts fans. Isaac Higgintoot is alive! Or, well, you know what we mean.
Season 3 ended on a major cliffhanger after the Puritan ghost Patience (now played by Mary Holland) made herself known on the Woodstone grounds, requesting help from the basement ghosts to lure Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones) downstairs. The basement ghosts innocently thought that Patience just wanted to clear the air after Isaac left her in that hole all those years ago, but the latest addition to Woodstone had other plans.
Once Isaac trodded down to the basement, Patience grabbed him from behind and pulled him into the wall. Both disappeared — and that’s where things pick up in the Season 4 premiere.
The morning after Isaac’s wedding, everyone begins to realize it’s been a while since they’ve seen him. Turns out,...

Patience isn’t satisfied with just kidnapping Isaac during Ghosts’ Season 4 premiere.
Opening with a flashback to 1692, the episode reveals that Patience was asked to leave her community when she was alive. She was too severe and joyless even for the Puritans, wanting to execute a young girl for talking to a doll — surely a sign of witchcraft, she argues — and she hasn’t lost any of that scary stringency in the present. She’s also developed a disturbing habit of exclaiming her own name.

The Ghosts season 4 premiere is on the books, with the October 17 debut setting up the fourth installment of the CBS series for a wild season. Based on a British Ghosts series for the BBC, the CBS series is critically acclaimed. The series revolves around Sam (Rose McIver) and Jay Arondekar (Utkarsh Ambutkar), who live in an old mansion after Sam inherits it from a distant relative, and the ghosts who inhabit their home.
The American series has plenty of spirits in the house to keep Sam and Jay on their toes. There are new characters in the Ghosts season 4 story, and one makes her debut in the premiere. A new ghost, Patience (Mary Holland), officially joins the series in the season 4 opener. Patience briefly appears in the Ghosts season 3 finale, but season 4 marks her official debut. In season 3, Patience kidnaps Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones) after his wedding, and season 4 starts with her vendetta against him.

After a bumpy return last year with a shorter set of episodes following the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, Ghosts is back Thursday night for Season 4, and its safe to say the CBS sitcom is showing a strong return to its initial comedic roots. Detangling itself from a Season 3 rut that only found time to serve nuance and growth for one particular character, the Joe Port and Joe Wiseman sitcom gets right into that cliffhanger without beating around the bush. Picking up from those last moments that found Brandon Scott Jones Isaac Higgintoot yanked into the dirt by a long-forgotten and feral spirit named Patience (Mary Holland), audiences will finally learn whats become of him. As the episode makes some smart choices that work in its favor for a renewed series, Season 4 proves Ghosts is still one of the CBS networks most charming sitcoms as the series returns to form.

Isaac's repetitive character arc in Ghosts could finally be resolved by Mary Holland's Patience in season 4. Patience's kidnapping of Isaac may lead to redemption and growth for the show's most toxic character, providing a much-needed change. The newest character in Ghosts season 4, Patience, will possess intense and scary spirit powers, unsettling the house occupants, reveals actor Richie Moriarty. Patience's presence hints at exploring new time periods with ghosts who have powerful abilities. It's possible Patience's powers are why Jay will be able to see ghosts, something previously confirmed for season 4.
Ghosts star Richie Moriarty has teased the spirit powers of Patience, a new character in season 4, who will seemingly have a major role in the show moving forward. Most of the members of the Vortex are recovering from the loss of Billy and getting back to their lives.
That meant a return to football for Spencer and Jordan on All American Season 5 Episode 16.
Sure, they're the two most important players on the Gau squad.
As Coach Kenny pointedly said, that still doesn't mean recruiting is part of their purview.
