The Wheel of Time has been canceled after three seasons at Amazon’s Prime Video streamer.
The series, from Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios and based on Robert Jordan’s best-selling series of fantasy novels, aired its third-season finale on April 17.
At the time, showrunner Rafe Judkins, who adapted the series for television, addressed the show’s uncertain future in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
Judkins said he’d been asking Amazon, “What is the end game for the show? I really want to deliver this full series, so how do we best do that?”
He argued that part of why he and his creative team chose Amazon was because the streamer “felt like a place where they do want to invest in shows for the long term. There are not a lot of places doing that anymore. For Wheel of Time, it’s really important for...

“The Wheel of Time” has run out its run at Prime Video. The Rosamund Pike-led adaptation of the fantasy novel series by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson will not return for Season 4 at the streaming platform, TheWrap has learned.
The news comes after Prime Video announced the renewal of its other big-budget drama series “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” for Season 3. Amid industry contraction, high-budget fantasy dramas seem prone for the chopping block across linear and streaming. “The Wheel of Time” is believed to have been too expensive to justify given its viewership performance.
“The Wheel Of Time” launched strong, becoming Prime Video’s most-watched series premiere of 2021 and one of the platform’s top debuts of all time. Season 3 saw its viewership slip, leaving Nielsen’s top 10 originals chart after three weeks, before making one last appearance after the launch of its finale.

Exclusive: Prime Video will not be renewing The Wheel of Time for a fourth season. The decision, which comes more than a month after the Season 3 finale was released April 17, followed lengthy deliberations. As often is the case in the current economic environment, the reasons were financial as the series is liked creatively by the streamer’s executives.
The TV adaptation of the book series by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson, co-produced by Sony Pictures TV and Amazon MGM Studios, is a high-end, pricey fantasy drama, which ushered in the genre on Prime Video, later joined by The Lord Of the Rings: The Rings Of Power.
Starring Rosamund Pike, The Wheel Of Time got off to a strong start in 2021 as Prime Video’s most watched series premiere of the year and one of the platform’s Top 5 series launches of all time.

Last week, Prime Video's fantasy show The Wheel of Time premiered one of its most intense episodes to horde, when a horde of bloodthirsty Trollocs descended on the idyllic Two Rivers. The ensuing battle is by far the best battle sequence the series has yet produced, with the townsfolk putting up a desperate resistance, Trollocs tearing through the village, Whitecloaks fighting on both sides, the Ogier Loial leading a daring attack on the nearby Waygate, and the pacifist Tuatha'an trying to spirit the villagers' children to safety through the forest.
There was a lot to love in "Goldeneyes," and days later we're still unpacking it. We spoke with Marcus Rutherford (Perrin) about stepping into the leadership role for the battle, and how fans got to finally "meet" Perrin for the first time this season. We asked Isabella Bucceri (Faile) about her training and her character's blossoming relationship with Perrin.

Yesterday The Wheel of Time unleashed one of its biggest, craziest episodes yet, and we're still reeling. "Goldeneyes" saw a horde of vicious Trollocs descend upon the sleepy town of Emond's Field, where Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford) led a desperate defense. The Battle of the Two Rivers is an important event in Robert Jordan's novel The Shadow Rising, and it's become an equally important moment for The Wheel of Time television series.
Perrin may have been the heart of "Goldeneyes," but he was far from the only major character caught up in the Battle of the Two Rivers. The Aes Sedai Alanna (Priyanka Bose) and her Warder Maksim (Taylor Napier) both played crucial roles; the Ogier Loial (Hammed Animashaun) and Aiel Maidens of the Spear Bain (Ragga Ragnars) and Chiad (Maja Simonsen) launched a daring assault on the nearby Waygate; the Whitecloaks got into the thick of the fighting...

The Wheel of Time just aired another barn-burner of an episode: "Goldeneyes," where Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford) leads the citizens of the sleepy Two Rivers in a battle against vicious Trollocs and even some rogue Whitecloaks. It's easily the most successful battle episode the show has mounted so far, and sets up some interesting new storylines for Perrin going forward.
We got to talk to Rutherford and asked him what he's looking forward to doing with the character in future seasons, assuming the show gets renewed. A lot of his thoughts had to do with Perrin's relationship with Faile (Isabella Bucceri), a hunter of the horn Perrin grew close to in this new season. "[T]here's something about the dynamic with Faile [Isabella Bucceri] that I just think is exceptional," Rutherford told us. "I love working with Isabella. This article contains Major Spoilers for The Wheel of Time season 3 Episode 7.
The seventh episode of The Wheel of Time season 3 has arrived, and it shook the quiet village of the Two Rivers down to its foundations. "Goldeneyes" saw an army of bloodthirsty Trollocs descend on the Two Rivers, along with a mixed force of Whitecloaks, some of whom wanted to aid the villagers and others who had sworn to the Shadow. Leading the defense was Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford), who has come a long way since his days as a humble blacksmith. This is an iconic part of Robert Jordan's novel The Shadow Rising, and it was important for the television show to get it right.
From where I'm sitting, I'd say the show pulled it off. The clash with the Trollocs is easily the show's most ambitious battle sequence to date, with tons of extras and special effects and great choreography.

This article contains Spoilers for The Wheel of Time season 3 Episode 7.
Battle came to the Two Rivers in the newest episode of The Wheel of Time, where Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford) had to lead the folk of his idyllic hometown in a desperate battle against the forces of darkness. "Goldeneyes" succeeds on every level; it's the show's most ambitious battle sequence by far, as well as a great episode for Perrin, a lead characters who has finally stepped into his own.
When the dust settled, Perrin made a fateful decision: rather than let things escalate once more into violence with the Whitecloaks, he agreed to go with them and face judgment for the murder of Geofram Bornhald, a Whitecloak general Perrin killed during season 2. It was a shocking turn of events that speaks to how far Perrin has come as a character, and his constant conflict with the need for violence.

The third season of The Wheel of Time is running right now on Amazon Prime Video, and it is rocking our world. The new season has scattered the growing cast to the winds: Rand and Moiraine have left for the deserts of the Aiel Waste, May and Nynaeve set said for the busting city of Tanchico, and gentle giant Perrin went home to the Two Rivers, perhaps hoping he could finally be done with this adventuring thing and settle into the life of a simple country blacksmith.
But that didn't happen. Even before Perrin learned that the Two Rivers was now beset by both Whitecloaks and Trollocs, he realized that he had changed during his journeys, which makes it very hard to go home again. “As soon as he gets there, he realizes that everything has changed… He had this idea of returning home and being outside of danger and destruction and war,...

With only three episodes left in Season 3 of The Wheel of Time, paths continue to diverge and converge, and more secrets are revealed, for better or worse. Collider can now unveil an exclusive sneak peek for Thursday's episode, "The Shadow in the Night." The scene is brief, focusing on Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford) and Faile Bashere (Isabella Bucceri). Faile, a Hunter of the Horn, who has been helping in the efforts against the Whitecloaks, and Perrin, who last episode planned a rescue mission for Natti Cauthon (Juliet Howland) and her daughters, are intimately discussing something when Faile says that Perrin's eyes are gold.
Perrin goes on to explain that he's a Wolfbrother and asks if Faile finds his demeanor strange because of it. She says she does, but she doesn't mind strange. The tension begins to build, and Perrin finally comes clean, laughing to break it. He asks Faile to fetch a scroll.

Was anyone expecting The Wheel of Time to end the episode on a CW-level love triangle cliffhanger? Yeah, I didn’t either, which is why I gasped at that delicious scene.
Is it wrong to be rooting for the good guys and the bad guys at the same time? All of the characters, especially The Forsaken, are so complex and amazing.
Not to mention that The Wheel of Time has gotten good at leaving us begging for more. With the number of characters the series has introduced, it’s a miracle anyone gets screen time.
(Prime/Screenshot)
As impressive as The Wheel of Time is, the plot has become harder to follow due to the constant shifting of characters.
There are so many separate stories happening at once that I find myself thinking, “Oh, right. That character is over there doing that thing.”
That’s why Perrin’s arc is...

Rosamund Pike has confirmed that The Wheel of Time Season 3 will make some changes to the book’s storyline, specifically delaying Rand al’Thor’s journey to the Stone of Tear. The new season, set to premiere on March 13, 2025, will follow Rand (Josha Stradowski) as he travels to the Aiel Waste before retrieving Callandor.
Pike explained that this adjustment was made to better translate Rand’s internal struggles to the screen. Instead of heading straight to the Stone of Tear, the show will send Rand into the Aiel Waste first, allowing him to discover his heritage and identity before obtaining the powerful sa’angreal. While the Stone of Tear remains an important part of the story, its placement has been shifted to better fit the TV adaptation.
“We haven’t neglected the Stone of Tear, we’ve just rearranged the order. There’ll be debate about it, but instead of Rand,...

Set to premiere on Mar. 13, the third entry in the series adapted from the books by Robert Jordan takes us to all new places, and introduces us to new characters like Elaidado Avriny a'Roihan, portrayed by Shohreh Aghdashloo.
Mostly adapting the fourth book in Jordan's series, The Shadow Rising, the trailer for The Wheel of Time Season 3 that was released online today (seen below) showcases what we can expect in March. Rosamund Pike's Moiraine Damodred and Josha Stradowski's Rand al'Thor are front and center as they head to the Aiel Waste, and there's no shortage of action and magic, of course. The Wheel of Time season 3 promises a challenging new adventure for the Dragon Reborn and company, and there are already a ton of exciting details. Prime Video brought the fantasy novels by Robert Jordan, and eventually finished by Brandon Sanderson, to the small screen. The series launched in 2021 with Rosamund Pike starring as Moiraine Damodred, an Aes Sedai of the Blue Ajah searching for the Dragon Reborn. The first season saw her find the Dragon Reborn, only to seemingly lose the One Power.
The Wheel of Time season 2 dropped on Prime Video on September 1, 2023, and the eight-episode story advanced the arcs of several main characters from Jordan's books, while also introducing new players from the source material. Similar to how season 1 adapted the first book, season 2 followed the events of book 2, The Great Hunt, with its ending lining up with the novel's finale. The Wheel of Time season 3 will continue...

Includes minor Spoilers for The Wheel of Time books, which could end up in the TV show!
Prime Video's The Wheel of Time adaptation has made some questionable changes from the source material, but one recent casting announcement seems to be making up for one of them. Based on the prolific fantasy Wheel of Time book series by Robert Jordan, Amazon's big attempt at the fantasy game kicked off in 2021 to mixed reviews, with many long-term readers criticizing the numerous and often needless narrative changes, especially those that pertain to major components of the main characters.
The Wheel of Time season 3 returns in early 2025, with the next set of episodes planned to cover The Shadow Rising and The Fires of Heaven. Marcus Rutherford plays Perrin Aybara in The Wheel of Time's cast, terrifically bringing the classic fantasy protagonist to life. Perrin is one of the three boys who set...

The Wheel of Time TV series has announced new members joining the season 3 cast, and it should benefit Rand al'Thor's narrative going forward. Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time book series is one of the most beloved titles in fantasy, celebrated as a work that expanded on the tropes established in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, particularly in the sense of a more complex main protagonist. For all intents and purposes, Rand al'Thor is the Dragon Reborn; he fulfills the "chosen one" archetype, making it strange that Prime Video's TV adaptation hasn't given him the spotlight.
Amazon Prime Video began its adaptation of Robert Jordan's epic fantasy series back in 2021, and The Wheel of Time season 3 is set to return in March 2025. This season will combine story elements from The Shadow Rising, which is generally perceived as one of the best in the series, with the subsequent book,...

Warning: This article contains spoilers for The Shadow Rising
The Wheel of Time will add a distinguished name from the source material to its ever-growing cast when Faile Bashere officially joins the fold in season 3. As expected, Faile will appear in the show's third season, which will serve as a live-action adaptation of The Shadow Rising, the fourth installment in Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time books.
