Roman Reigns didn’t consider Cm Punk as a bigger star than John Cena or Dwayne Johnson. The two sure seemed to have issues between them before they joined forces in the Survivor Series last year. Reigns first appeared as part of The Shield at the Survivor Series 2012, where it was revealed that Punk hired the Shield trio to help him win the WWE Championship.

Punk later revealed that The Shield was his idea but Reigns at the top of it was something Vince McMahon suggested. Punk shared that he was asked to make Reigns look stronger, which earned the latter a significant amount of hatred from fans. It was probably the beginning of their unpleasant feud over the years.

A new partnership. A new stadium. A new WWE Women's World Champion.
The start of the WWE's “Netflix Era,” as Paul “Triple H” Levesque dubbed it, had an appetizer sampler of everything fans could want: pro wrestling legends The Rock and John Cena, a championship belt up for grabs between Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley, and a clash of bitter rivals Seth Rollins and Cm Punk. It all went down in front of an audience of 17,000 that included stars like Vanessa Hudgens and Macaulay Culkin. Among the millions (and millions) watching live at home were WWE’s Director of Character Development, Rob Fee, and one of 2024’s most dominant superstars, Bronson Reed, who both spoke with Tudum moments after Jan 6.’s Raw concluded.

2024 was a gift to wrestling fans for many members of the WWE Universe. It was effectively the year in which the company and its product worked its way back into the mainstream, thanks in large part to a monumental Netflix deal and the return of Hollywood superstar, The Rock. The year offered some incredible moments for WWE spectators, but it also offered some incredible matches.
The year of 2024 gave audiences too many matches to choose from in the Match of the Year department, many of which just barely missed the cut. Liv Morgan vs. Iyo Sky, WarGames, Nxt's Iron Survivor, Friday Night SmackDown's Triple Threat Ladder Match, Ludwig Kaiser vs. Sheamus vs. Bron Breakker, and Randy Orton's match with Gunther in Berlin are all examples of honorable mentions. However, the matches that did happen to leave an imprint in the minds of the WWE Universe are ones that are truly must-see.

SmackDown delivered one of the best segments of WWE TV this year, as Paul Heyman and Cm Punk both returned. Punk will be the fifth man at Survivor Series, teaming with Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn, and The Usos to take on Solo Sikoa's Bloodline. It was a night filled with excitement, that also saw Jade Cargill put through a car windscreen by a mystery assailant, with Chelsea Green capitalizing on Bianca Belair rushing to her partner's aid, by pinning Bianca Davenport and going to the next round of the Women US title tournament.
Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens came face-to-face in an unmissable verbal battle, as their feud continued to escalate. DIY members Tommaso Ciampa and Jonny Gargano drifted further apart, the former being pinned by Montez Ford, as the Street Profits looked set to be the new contenders for the Motor City Machine Guns Tag Team Championships. The most recent developments in the WWEs Bloodline storyline have fans wondering what Bronson Reeds heritage is. Since the Roman Reigns iteration of the group, members have been exclusively Samoan and exclusively related to the Anoai family tree. Except for Sami Zayn, but obviously, hes an Honorary Uce. Other than that, even Solo Sikoa's iteration of the Bloodline hasn't strayed too much away from the formula, including the two Tongans, Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa, who are still of Pacific Islander heritage.
Bronson Reed presents an interesting wrinkle in WWEs nearly Samoan-exclusive faction. This past week, he joined Solo Sikoas Bloodline as their fifth man for Survivor Series: WarGames. Its led to some wondering and even debating if Bronson is Samoan or a Pacific Islander and if not, should that should exclude him from officially being in the group.

It's safe to say that Bronson Reed has officially established himself as the most vicious monster on WWE's roster. After spending more than a decade in the indies, Bronson Reed signed with Nxt, WWE's developmental brand. Even after a brief year-long release, Reed was building a steady rise to the top for himself. Then, the company suddenly started elevating him astronomically into the main event picture in more recent months.
One of the reasons behind Reed's newfound popularity is his finishing move, the Tsunami, which sees him splashing down all 330 lbs onto his opponents off the top rope. A series of devastating Tsunami that put Seth Rollins out of action was what truly put Reed on the map in the main roster, and from that point onwards, the Australian monster has been a presence that can't be ignored on Monday Night Raw.

Monday Night Raw saw WWE take another leap towards Survivor Series with a second show taped at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The five-on-five match for the Women's WarGames match was confirmed as Rhea Ripley made a shocking return to action after an injury was expected to keep her off TV for the rest of the year. The Wyatt Sicks and The Final Testament both had video messages for one another, and The Judgment Day's woes continued with another loss to the War Raiders.

Monday Night Raw rolled through Grand Rapid, Mi, for a superb night of action from one of the best shows delivered by WWE's red brand recently. Gunther vs Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship will happen at Survivor Series 2024, with Gunther spending the night worried about Priest who defeated his compatriot, Ludwig Kaiser. Dakota Kai returned to Damage Ctrl who then won a trios match against Pure Fusion Collective, and Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill successfully defended their tag team championships against Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez in a match that saw many SmackDown women invading. Bron Breakker and Sheamus had a verbal exchange that has led to an Intercontinental title match on next week's Raw.

2024 has been an incredible year for professional wrestling, especially in the landscape of the WWE. Thanks to an announcement about a Netflix deal, a truly electrifying (and often hilarious) Rock return, and a scattered international presence, many wrestling fans will admit that WWE is great again. Most importantly, it's the matches which keep bringing fans back for more.
It's no secret that the actual in-ring wrestling comes secondary to storytelling, specifically in the sports entertainment environment of the WWE. The most important part of wrestling isn't always wrestling. Usually, it's the promos in WWE, or soap opera-esque storytelling on display. However, 2024 is a rare year where the wrestling has been just as compelling as the stories across the roster. Thankfully, WWE has been gracious enough to upload many of the year's best matches for free on YouTube.

WWE remained in Saudi Arabia after Crown Jewel 2024 for a pre-taped edition of Monday Night Raw, where Damian Priest emerged as Gunther's next opponent for the World Heavyweight Championship. He did so by winning a Fatal Four Way against Sheamus, Dominik Mysterio, and Seth Rollins, who was taken out of commission by Bronson Reed giving him a Tsunami through a table. Dragon Lee defeated Chad Gable to pour more misery on American Made after Ivy Nile distracted her teammate by fighting Zelina Vega, and the War Raiders continued their winning streak with a victory over The New Day, as Kofi and Xavier Woods' problems continued.

Two of WWE‘s biggest behemoths went to war on Monday Night Raw on September 30 in a hard-hitting clash that ended with the entire ring collapsing. The “Last Monster Standing Match” saw Braun Strowman taking on Bronson Reed in the main event of WWE’s flagship show. Reed and Strowman have been feuding over the past month, with the violence continuing to escalate between the two week after week. Toward the end of Monday’s match, Reed and Strowman ascended to the top rope, where Reed grabbed his opponent and superplexed him from up high to the canvas below. On impact, the ring imploded, with two of the corner posts collapsing inwards. “The ring just collapsed, the ring just collapsed,” commentator Joe Tessitore yelled as the fans in attendance went wild. “The ropes are gone, the ring has gone, and both men are laid out!” The Ring Just Collapsed! Match #1: Sheamus def. “Big” Bronson Reed The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The Celtic Warrior took Reed on a tour at ringside, delivering 10 Beats of the Bodhran over the announce table before pulling in Raw commentator Pat McAfee for an embrace. Reed showcased his own strength as well, catching Sheamus to hit a huge powerbomb for a close two-count. Reed tried following up with a Tsunami, but Sheamus evaded the move before hitting a huge running knee strike to win the match. After the bout, Dunne saved Sheamus from Reed’s post-match assault until Dunne shockingly hit his former mentor in the back.

Match #1: Jey Uso def. Chad Gable The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

After the bout, Gable ran away as a Wyatt Sicks member handed another mysterious package to the commentary desk.

In his first match back since his injury, Braun Strowman dismantled Jd McDonagh, chucking him around like a sack of flour. As Strowman was looking to put away McDonagh, Finn Bálor and Carlito tried to take out The Monster of All Monsters. This backfired as Strowman shook them off, hitting a Tilt-a-whirl Powerslam on McDonagh to win the match. The much-anticipated King & Queen of the Ring came and went in front of another raucous international crowd, giving us an afternoon of solid wrestling and setting some future storylines into motion.
This premium live event had some added weight to it with the King & Queen matches, which we found out recently would give the winners a title shot at Summerslam
Crowing a King, and more recently a Queen, had been a staple of the WWE, with some of the most famous moments in the company's history coming during the event.
Think 'Austin 3:16 said I just whopped your ass' for starters.
But the matches that supplied their winners with crowns were just two on a heavy card that saw multiple titles up for grabs and ended up being a damn good time.
We're not here to break down the ins and outs of the matches. But we are here to...
