Ruby Garnet
- Actress
- Writer
- Producer
Ruby is a dynamic multi-hyphenate-actor, writer, director, producer, and U.S. Marine-whose journey from rural southern Ohio to the screen is as bold and unforgettable as her performances. Growing up with three brothers and three sisters, Ruby began her modeling and acting career at just 12 years old, signing with Kathleen Wellman and Ashley Talent Agency in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Despite attending more than four high schools, Ruby remained dedicated to theater throughout her teens. During her junior and senior years, she competed in the prestigious Cincinnati Overture Awards Scholarship Program. In 1999, her emotionally charged performance as M'Lynn from Steel Magnolias stunned judges and earned her a place in the finals. However, Ruby chose a different path-graduating six months early to enlist in the United States Marine Corps. She served on active duty for eight years, including deployments to Iraq, and continued to serve her country as a Federal Intelligence Officer following her military service.
In 2016, Ruby made the courageous decision to leave civil service and fully pursue her passion in the arts. Since then, she has written, produced, and starred in multiple film projects. She is the original creator, co-director, and lead actress in the upcoming Western feature DOGWOOD, where she stars opposite James Storm and Eric Roberts.
Ruby also appears in the Amazon drama GodsWill, and recently completed a short film titled The Seedling-a story she Executive Produced, Directed, and Headlined. The project is now being developed into a feature film.
Outside of filmmaking, Ruby is a fierce competitor, actively training for MMA, elite obstacle course races, marathons, and triathlons. Her relentless drive, creativity, and authenticity shine through in everything she does-on set, on screen, and in life.
