Even if a manga series and anime tell the same story, the presentation may differ a great deal. Aside from tweaks like censoring graphic content or adding a few extra lines of dialogue, an anime series might look either much better or much worse than the source manga, which may inspire fans to prefer one version or the other. In certain cases, the anime version may look worse due to dated and clunky production values from the time, or the anime might be incapable of capturing the manga's unique art style no matter the budget.
Such is the case for plenty of high-profile anime series, which told the same story as the source manga but could never recapture the same look. At best, these anime series are just an introduction to the original manga, which will treat fans with the definitive version of the story with the perfect art to...

In anime, characters will often choose to spare their enemies. Either out of a sense of morality or even justice, sparing one's enemies is heroic and honorable. However, not all characters deserve mercy, especially villains. Mercy is a courtesy few anime characters receive and not everyone who is shown mercy will pay that kindness back to the hero.
Shōnen anime often makes mercy a necessity for heroes to follow as a strict rule to not appear evil or complex. Few villains return such kindness and will often make mercy feel like regret to such characters instead of an act of compassion. While not every form of mercy is deserved, certain characters in anime have discovered the hard way that sparing one's enemies or even friends can result with devastating consequences.

Would you survive? Blue Fox Ent. has unveiled an official trailer for an indie survival thriller called Year 10, marking the feature directorial debut of British filmmaker Ben Goodger. It first premiered at FrightFest 2024 but it hasn't show up anywhere else. This will be on VOD in December if anyone thinks it looks good. 10 years after the fall of civilization, the few survivors have been driven to cannibalism. A young man must confront a violent tribe that has murdered his father and stolen the medicine that keeps his girlfriend alive. Taking place in a post-apocalyptic world, the film focuses on a man fighting wild dogs, nature, and other brutal humans in order to save his love. Starring Toby Goodger, Hannah Khalique-Brown, Duncan Lacroix, Alexander Anderson. I'm tired of these bland survival thrillers that are always "people will turn horrible and start eating each other!" Every time they all have the...

The path to Rick and Morty started with Crusader Rabbit and ran through Winky Dink.

Besides the classic animated shorts, they also filled time with live-action footage of Disney animators in their glorified sweatshops, and a voice actor riffing over newsreel footage, in character as Woody Woodpecker.
13 ‘The Ruff and Reddy Show’ (1957)
Named after 19th century Whig Party star Zachary Taylor, aka “Old Rough and Ready,” this show was about a smart cat and a dumb dog who never met a woman because the studio would only pay for two voice actors. It was the first-ever Hanna-Barbera series.
12 ‘Tom Terrific’ (1957)
Tom Terrific was a child superhero who could turn into any animal or vehicle he wanted. He lived alone in a treehouse (with his sentient but stupid dog), and didn’t fight crime, per se, but rather raged against the adults in his life. Sounds pretty bleak!

It has been more than two decades since the original Hellsing anime premiered. Kouta Hirano began serialization in 1997 and was adapted into an anime in 2001. The first anime only had 13 episodes, and Hellsing: The Dawn had ten episodes. All ten episodes were around an hour long, and the episodes were produced by separate animation studios.
One of the best things about Hellsing is Alucard, the first and strongest vampire to ever live, who is a sworn protector of the Hellsing. The mangaka created him as the most dominant force in his story. At one point, there was no one left to challenge, and Hirano had to introduce another powerful character to rival the vampire.

Kouta Hirano excelled in blending gore with comedy bits with Hellsing. This peculiar blend of such different elements have appealed to many fans all over the world. During the early 2000s, when Hellsing was still being published, anime wasn’t as mainstream as it is today. There were few anime that were successful enough to reach the fans overseas.
With its striking visuals, Hellsing garnered international attention. Even today, the series enjoys a dedicated fanbase that is always on the lookout for Hirano’s new works.

Kouta Hirano’s Hellsing has done wonders for the dark fantasy vampire genre, and most of its credit goes to its main character, Alucard. Deemed one of the strongest characters in the history of anime and manga, Alucard has remained undefeated in the entire series and has served the Hellsing organization in dealing with vampires and other supernatural forces.

While there were many villains introduced in the story, none of them were able to defeat Alucard because of the plethora of powers and abilities that he possessed. From shapeshifting to dark composition, Alucard is filled with strong attacks that can’t be rivaled by anyone. However, there was only one character who came close.
His name was Alexander Anderson, and he was a prominent member of the Iscariot organization, also known as Vatican Section 13. Hirano once revealed that he introduced Section 13 and Anderson...

A cult classic, Kentaro Miura's Berserk was first serialized in 1988 and later adapted into an animated series in 1997. A beautifully designed film series was released a few years later, and a new manga arc was subsequently adapted in 2016. This seinen series has been consistently popular for its unique as well as grotesque narrative and concepts.
Fans of this series are a select bunch. That said, their tastes can be satiated in many other ways by similar anime like Berserk. Not every recommendation is going to hit the spot for Berserk's devoted fandom, but stories that deal with the struggle of morality, fantastical creatures, and copious quantities of gore might just do the trick.

Kouta Hirano's action-horror manga "Hellsing" begins 100 years or so after Abraham Van Helsing defeated Dracula. Contrary to the account of Bram Stoker, the Lord of Vampires was not slain, merely cowed, and became the Helsing (eventually Hellsing) family retainer. Abraham's descendant, Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing, leads an eponymous ghoul-hunting organization. Her top agents are the rechristened Alucard and his newly sired protégé, Seras "Police Girl" Victoria.
Hellsing's enemies are two-fold. First, there's Iscariot, the Vatican's vampire slayers who rival the Protestant Hellsing; Father Alexander Anderson is particularly dead-set on killing Alucard. Second, there's Millennium, a Nazi remnant who experimented with the occult and still intends to bring about a thousand-year Third Reich. If you're not much of a manga reader, don't fear, for "Hellsing" has been adapted into an animated series. However, if you're looking to watch the "Hellsing" anime, you'll have to decide: Which one?
