‘Red Water’ and ’12 Days of Terror’ – Revisiting Two Direct-to-tv Shark Movies from the Early 2000s
Image
People may be surprised to learn that staying out of the ocean won’t guarantee their safety from sharks. In fact, a dip in a river or pond could lead to an encounter with one of the most aggressive sharks in the world: the bull shark. Strangely enough, though, the Carcharhinus leucas doesn’t show up in sharksploitation movies anywhere near as much as its larger and more popular cousin, the great white. Many don’t even know of its existence until they hear of a sighting or attack in an unlikely place.

Jaws led to great whites becoming the face of shark horror. Of course, there are exceptions — Deep Blue Sea features bio-engineered mako sharks, and Syfy went through a period of unleashing one variety of mutant shark after another — yet as a whole, sharksploitation prefers great whites. Re-kill (2011) 6-Minute Movie Clip: Valeri Milev, Roger R. Cross
Re-Kill Clip. Valeri Milev‘s Re-Kill (2011) 6-Minute movie clip stars Roger R. Cross and Layke Anderson. Re-Kill‘s plot synopsis: “It’s been 5 years since the outbreak that wiped out 85% of the world’s population, but the war between Re-Animates (Re-Ans) and Humans wages on. Most of the major cities are still uninhabitable. Within the few surviving cities, the Re-Ans have been segregated into “zones” and are policed by the R-Division of the Quasi S.W.A.T. Unit who hunt to re-kill the Re-Ans in the hope of quelling a second outbreak.”

I didn’t pay much attention to this horror movie until I saw this extended movie clip for the film. Not bad.

More on what’s seen in the movie clip:

“R-Division, Frontline” is America’s #1 TV show in this Post-Apocalyptic world. Weekly, the show follows different R-Division units on the battlefield as they work to keep America Safe and Re-An free.

Three Moons Over Milford: Series' Future Eclipsed
To little surprise, the Disney Company's ABC Family channel has announced the end of its original and quirky series entitled Three Moons Over Milford.

Three Moons was a unique drama set in the idealic small town of Milford, Vermont. Shortly before the pilot episode began, an asteroid struck the moon, shattering it into three large pieces and threatening to fall to Earth. The threat of an eventual "Judgment Day" causes many people to question their lives and live them to extremes by quitting jobs, indulging vices and living as if each day were their last. It starred Elizabeth McGovern and Rob Boltin as the heads of the Davis family.

Three Moons Over Milford got off to a slow start on August 6, 2006 on ABC Family. The ratings were less than spectacular (1.6 million viewers) -- especially compared to another original ABC Family series, the very popular Kyle Xy series. Unfortunately, despite having an original concept,...
