Trivia

  • Fury (real name: Beauty) was one of the best-trained, best-paid horses in Hollywood.
  • Fury was a black American Saddlehorse from Missouri. Trained by Ralph McCutcheon, Fury responded to both hand and voice commands/signals. Originally named Highland Dale, Fury has also been called Beauty and Gypsy.
  • By the time Highland Dale retired he ranked second only to Lassie in net earnings by an animal actor.
  • He worked only four months a year and has brought owner Ralph McCutcheon $500,000 in eight years. His Fury fee: ($1,500 per episode) plus 5% of shows profits.
  • Was thought to be a black stallion named King that Toni Helfer and her husband Ralph Helfer nursed back to health at their Africa: U.S.A. exotic animal ranch in Soledad Canyon, California. However, that horse was really one of Highland Dale's doubles from the television series Fury (1955).
