Transformers' 8 Most Powerful Weapons & Devices Across All 7 Movies
Image
MacGuffins like the Allspark and Matrix of Leadership drive the conflicts in Transformers movies, blurring the line between magic and technology. Transformers use powerful artifacts like the Vortex Grinder and Talisman to battle, each with unique reality-altering properties. Devices like the Transwarp Key and Star Harvester have immense capabilities, from teleportation to planet terraforming, in the Transformers universe.

The Transformers franchise has had many powerful weapons, artifacts, and devices populating its films over the years. Ranging from crafty pieces of armament for the most powerful Autobots and Decepticons to surprise each other with to mythological pieces of technology capable of ending the world, the universe of the live-action Transformers movies is littered with important objects worthy of acclaim. Even if the Transformers themselves are living technology, some of their strongest pieces of tech far outshine anything most individual Cybertronians are capable of.

The stories of the Transformers movies rely heavily...

Transformers 8 Desperately Needs To Give Megatron A Proper Role 17 Years After His Best
Image
Megatron's absence from recent Transformers films has been a detriment to the franchise's box office success. Transformers 8 is the perfect opportunity to bring Megatron back as the main antagonist and inject new life into the series. Megatron's return would likely draw a higher box office and help make Transformers 8 feel as big as the older films.

Megatron is easily the Transformers franchise's most well-known villain and often their best, but having spent so long without a major role, Transformers 8 is the perfect time to bring him back into the limelight. The film series has naturally explored other antagonists, attempting to branch out beyond its most reliable villain. This proved successful as Transformers became one of the all-time highest-grossing box office franchises, highlighting how popular the movies have been, even without Megatron. Not all the films have been critical successes, but Transformers has become a financial powerhouse and its consistently high...

Ken Watanabe Played a Robot Before The Creator
Image
One of the most engaging aspects of Gareth Edwards' The Creator is how he's painting a story of sympathy towards artificial intelligence. Here, John David Washington's Joshua is tasked with helping humanity by killing a robot. The soldier thinks it's a weapon, only to find out it's a young female robot. From the trailers, Joshua will be learning more about these beings as he goes on the run to protect the child.

It appears he'll be meeting other robots, such as Ken Watanabe's Harun, who just want to live a free life away from the war mankind is waging. Fans are hyped because, as seen in The Last Samurai and Inception, Watanabe brings a pathos to such emotionally-charged roles. Interestingly, this isn't the Japanese actor's first rodeo playing a machine, as he was also a robot in disguise in Michael Bay's Transformers movies.

11 Times Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Breaks From Michael Bay Canon
Image
Warning! This post contains Spoilers for Transformers: Rise of the BeastsAlthough 2018's Bumblebee initiated a new era for the Transformers franchise, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts still breaks the canon of the Michael Bay-directed films more than once. Set in 1994, Rise of the Beasts is a prequel set 13 years before the events of the first live-action Transformers film in 2007. However, elements established in the original films have either been altered or forgotten completely with this new prequel/reboot.

Bumblebee and Rise of the Beasts are both considered the start of a "soft reboot" for Paramount and Hasbro's Transformers franchise. This means future films can choose what they want to keep from the old continuity while leaving behind less desirable elements. Keeping that in mind, there are quite a few moments in Rise of the Beasts that break the Michael Bay canon while technically still being part of the...

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Fridges Airazor in the Worst Way
Image
The following contains spoilers for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, now in theaters.

One of the things the Transformers series has never shied away from is death. The Michael Bay movies had no problem killing Autobots and Decepticons, maybe a bit too nonchalantly. And make no mistake, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts follows suit as Scourge and the Terrorcons come to Earth.

This reminds viewers that when the Robots in Disguise fight, it's always a battle filled with high stakes and grave consequences. Sadly, director Steven Caple Jr. makes a huge mistake by making Airazor a sacrificial lamb. It ends up feeling like fridging for a cheap thrill, spitting on the potential the character has in this universe.

Transformers: Who Is Unicron?
Image
The Transformers franchise has been going on for nearly 40 years, which is an impressive feat for one that was completely created to sell toys. The newly released, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, reboots the Michael Bay timeline and, with it, we will get a better peak at the deadliest villain throughout all of Transformers: Unicron. The Robots in Disguise have fought many enemies, and some have even caused the franchises two predominant warring factions to team up: Overlord, Jihaxus, The Fallen, and, of course, Unicron, just to name a few.

In the recent trailer for Rise of the Beasts, Mirage, voiced by Pete Davidson, explains the size and scope of Unicron, saying, "The dude eats planets, so he's way bigger than a planet." The fan base has been wanting a proper version of the infamous villain ever since he was teased by Quintessa in 2017's Transformers: The Last Knight. While...

Does Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Have a Post-Credits Scene?
Image
When Travis Knight's Bumblebee offered a soft reboot of the Transformers universe, fans were ecstatic. The Michael Bay movies got so much wrong, and it seemed like audiences and critics were over the films focusing on style, not substance. It's why many have been champing at the bit for Steven Caple Jr.'s Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.

So far, responses from critics indicate this spin on the fan-favorite Beast Wars is a solid flick, leaving loyalists eager for sequels to be mapped out. Of course, if a franchise is to come together, the studio would use mid-credits stingers and post-credits scenes. They help to tease the future, so let's dive into what happens once Rise of the Beasts concludes.

Why Optimus Prime Had To Be a Killer in Transformers
Image
A major critique many had of Optimus Prime in the Michael Bay Transformers movies was how much of a killer he was and how he enjoyed doing it. He came off as bloodthirsty, leaving fans wondering if this was the Optimus from the old cartoons and comics who still had some qualms when it came to murder. After all, superheroes don't kill or try their best not to. Well, upon reconciling the past in the Bayverse and what's unfolding now with Unicron looming in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Optimus had no choice but to embrace that ruthless side to ensure Earth could be a proper refuge.

Michael Bay's Optimus Prime Faced Many Villains

Now, Optimus was always a student of war, learning about things on Cybertron. Sadly, he lost his home, with Earth becoming a new haven. Thus, to see Megatron, the Fallen, Sentinel Prime, Shockwave and Quintessa all...

Transformers Movies Story Recap & Rewatch Guide Before Rise of the Beasts
Image
The Transformers franchise is growing with Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, and here is a recap of the movies' story so far and which ones need to be rewatched. Paramount's live-action series based on Hasbro's iconic action figures began in 2007 under the guidance of Michael Bay. His days of leading the franchise are done, as Transformers: Rise of the Beasts represents how the movies are evolving. It is the seventh live-action Transformers movie made during the last 16 years, but it takes place in 1994, years before many of the other installments, and stars an entirely new group of human characters.

Directed by Steven Caple Jr., Transformers: Rise of the Beasts follows Noah (Anthony Ramos) as he meets Mirage and the Autobots, making him part of a mission to save the world. This includes working alongside Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, who have appeared in all six previous Transformers movies, but...

Black Adam: What Hawkman’s “Sordid History” Means for the Jsa
Aldis Hodge at an event for La 89e cérémonie des Oscars (2017)
Aldis Hodge has built a name for himself as a powerful character actor and vibrant creative force. In Black Adam, Hodge is taking on one of the oldest and most storied DC characters, Hawkman. A founding member of the Justice Society of America, the timeless superhero plays a key role in the upcoming movie. We spoke with Hodge about the impact of Hawkman and his moral battle with Black Adam himself.

What first excited you about playing Hawkman?

Aldis Hodge: It was his affiliations, his history, who he was to DC. He’s been all over, he’s been through so many different things. He’s touched so many different stories. When we first started, I didn’t know what journey they were taking him on. So I was getting excited thinking about what the next journey is for him. And I couldn’t wait to see what the costume looked like.

Pierce Brosnan at an event for The Ghost Writer (2010)
The chance to speak to a Hollywood icon like Pierce Brosnan is a rare one, but we were lucky enough to do just that in an exclusive chat about his role in Black Adam. Playing Doctor Fate marks Brosnan’s entry into the superhero movie world and it’s long overdue.

Brosnan reveals he’s a lifelong comic book fan who couldn’t be happier to be a part of the epic and potentially game changing DC movie, especially in a role as important as Doctor Fate. Here’s what we had to say about the upcoming blockbuster…

How are you feeling about Black Adam and making your debut as Doctor Fate?

Pierce Brosnan: I’m so excited about this film. I’ve actually never been so excited about something. I had such a great time making it with Dwayne and my compatriots.

Were you a comic book fan before making Black Adam?...
