A trio of Screambox films will receive rare theatrical screenings as part of the first annual Happy Fright Film Fest, taking place this weekend at the Fillmore Town Theatre in Fillmore, CA.
The festivities kick off on October 18 with a 16mm showing of George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead. On October 19, Screambox favorites Creeping Death and Night of the Missing will screen with filmmaker Q&As alongside the upcoming Cannibal Comedian.
Other entertainment includes stand-up comedy by 3 from Hell’s Pancho Moler, a sneak peek at the short Bellevue Bob featuring horror icon Bill Moseley, live music by psychobilly punk band Six Silver Bullets, vendor marketplace, classic arcade games, and more.

Matt Sampere’s Creeping Death is a low-budget, questionably executed horror thriller film that attempts to trace the birth of Halloween. It is an ambitious project where unfortunately none of the elements worked out. The acting is subpar, the story has loopholes, and the tropes are old and repetitive. Tim lived with his father and ailing mother. Linda had been diagnosed with cancer, and the last three years had been challenging for the family. Tim’s father, Fred, was a paramedic, and he had immense work pressure on Halloween. He asked Tim to stay home with Linda, and his son obliged. Instead of attending the Halloween party he was invited to, Tim decided to spend a quiet night at home. But all of a sudden, his friends showed up carrying a sack.
