Suhasini Joshi, popularly known by her screen name Suhas Joshi, is a distinguished Marathi theater, film, and television actress who has also made her mark in Bollywood. Honored with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Acting in 2018, Joshi's passion for acting was ignited during her college days, leading her to pursue a three-year diploma course in acting from the National School of Drama, Delhi, where she trained under the esteemed theater director Ebrahim Alkazi.

Joshi began her career in 1972 with the Marathi play "Barrister," directed by Vijaya Mehta and based on Jaywant Dalvi's novel "Andharachya Parambya." She played the role of Radha alongside Vikram Gokhale in the lead role. Over the years, Joshi has starred in several significant plays, including Sai Paranjpye's "Sakkhe Shejari" and Vijay Tendulkar's "Kanyadaan," the latter opposite veteran actor Dr. Shriram Lagoo. "Kanyadaan" was produced by the Indian National Theatre and directed by Sadashiv Amrapurkar, with over 200 performances.

Joshi has also delivered a compelling performance in the monologue play "Smriti Chitre," based on Lakshmibai Tilak's autobiography, which chronicles her transformation from a Hindu-Brahmin woman to adopting Christianity. Joshi's versatility in the play is evident as she skillfully portrays multiple characters, including male voices.

In Bollywood, Joshi is known for her roles in commercially successful films like "Tezaab" (1988), "Chandni" (1989), and "Josh" (2000). Her Marathi film credits include "Tu Tithe Mee" (1998) and "Saatchya Aat Gharat" (2004). Her performance in "Tu Tithe Mee" was highly acclaimed, earning her several awards and contributing to the film's recognition as the Best Feature Film in Marathi at the 46th National Film Awards.

Joshi's extensive career spans theater, film, and television, with notable appearances in Marathi and Hindi TV shows. In 2012, she was seen in the Hindi TV show "Khamoshiyaan" on Star Plus. A graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Psychology, and Sanskrit from the University of Pune, Joshi is also trained in classical music, having completed four examinations (Madhyama) at Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. She is married to fellow theater artist Subhash Joshi and is a mother to two children, Sonali Joshi and Saket Joshi.
