Christopher Smith at an event for Severance (2006)
The Creep: Christopher Smith’s reboot of 2004 film Creep comes to Shudder in 2026
Christopher Smith at an event for Severance (2006)
Back in 2004, Christopher Smith made his feature writing and directing debut with the horror film Creep, which starred Franka Potente as a young woman who discovers a hideously deformed cannibal living in the London Underground. A few weeks ago, we learned that Smith is set to direct a reboot of his film – and since another horror franchise has taken over the name Creep, this reboot is called The Creep. Now, Deadline reports that the Shudder streaming service has acquired the North American distribution rights to the film, which will be released sometime in 2026.

Production on The Creep is scheduled to take place in the UK this fall. Jasmine Jobson (Top Boy), Andy Nyman (Wicked) and rapper Aitch have signed on to star in the film, which will (as expected) be set in London’s shadowy underground. The story follows a struggling artist (Jobson) forced to return to her criminal drug-running past.

One of the Most Terrifying Hidden Horror Gems of all Time Is Getting a Remake From Original Director
Image
A lot of horror fans are skeptical of remakes and that’s entirely understandable. There were a lot of cynical rehashes that went into production in the ‘00s when the remake boom was in full swing. We’re still seeing that trend continue, but it seems we’ve achieved a greater balance of late. Yes, many of the titles getting greenlit today are based on an IP in one way or another, but a lot of these reimaginings within the genre space are showing a level of creativity many argue is absent from past remakes like The Omen or A Nightmare on Elm Street. An upcoming reimagining that has me somewhat hopeful is Christopher Smith’s reinterpretation of his 2004 horror film Creep. The impending reboot is called The Creep.

Although the picture has yet to go before cameras, Shudder has already scooped up the North American distribution rights

10 Great British Gangster Movies (That Aren’t From Guy Ritchie)
Image
Since the Golden Age of film Noir, gangster movies have given audiences some of the best films of all time, from Francis Ford Coppola's Godfather films to Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas. While American Mafia stories often dominate the gangster sub-genre, some of the best stories have come from the United Kingdom, with director Guy Ritchie delivering some of the most acclaimed. As great as his movies are, Ritchie is far from the only British filmmaker to shed light on the nation's organized crime.

Although British gangster stories aren't always as glamorous as American crime sagas, they bring a unique grit and often times dark humor to the genre. Ranging from iconic films from the '60s and '70s to modern cult classics, the UK continues to release some of the best crime movies around, particularly owing to the nation's use of black comedy and famous stars. Guy Ritchie...

Upon Aitch sharing this news grimly at dinner one night, the four of them each look uniquely horrified, as if they’ve just learned of the death of a close friend or family member.

‘Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe’ Director Hopes Her Queer Latino Film Will Spur Action: ‘We Can’t Stay Silent’
Aitch Alberto
“Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe” director Aitch Alberto considers her film adaptation timely yet “long overdue” for several reasons.

Aitch, who hails from Cuba and identifies as transgender, penned the screen adaptation of the novel by Benjamin Alire Sáenz after spending four days in El Paso with the author, who gave her his blessing to adapt the story. She spoke with TheWrap about intentional directorial choices for specific scenes, her take on the relationship between Aristotle (Max Pelayo) and his father Jaime (Eugenio Derbez) and the broader implications of the film in a growing canon of LGBTQ+ and Latin American stories released during a tense political time.

How is this film uniquely Mexican-American?

Alberto: This film is uniquely Latino. I’m not Mexican American. I’m Cuban, so I really tried to focus on the similarities that we have as a culture because there are also a lot of differences.

Harry Styles Joins Adele in the Exclusive "4 Brits Club"
Image
The Brits 2023 are officially over for another year, and it was Harry Styles's night. As predicted, the "As It Was" singer took home artist of the year, song of the year, best pop / r&b, and album of the year - marking the start of a very good 2023 for the former One Direction member, having won the best album award at the Grammys just a week earlier. Wet Leg and Beyoncé both won two Brits, while The 1975, Aitch, and Becky Hill also scooped the top prizes.

Styles sweeping the board even saw him enter an exclusive club, unofficially named the "4 Brits Club." Dave Rowntree, the drummer of Blur, tweeted on Feb. 12, "I'd like to welcome @Harry_Styles to the #4BritsClub. It's been a bit lonely with just us and @Adele these past years. Next meeting in March – you can bring the biscuits." While there are artists who have won...

Image
Los Angeles, Feb 12 (Ians) Singer Harry Styles dominated The Brit Awards 2023 with a haul of all four gongs he was up for including the controversial Artist of the Year prize.

The former One Direction singer, 29, also scooped Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop/R+B Act, and is making headlines for dedicating his Artist of the Year trophy to a string of female artistes who weren’t nominated, after the BRITs was slammed for the all-male nominees line-up for the trophy after the category went gender-neutral, reports aceshowbiz.com.

Beyonce Knowles and Wet Leg were the next biggest winners at the ceremony on Saturday, February 11 night in London’s O2 Arena, picking up two gongs apiece.

Harry’s haul came after he opened proceedings with a rendition of ‘As It Was’ while wearing a sparkly red matador-style jacket. His trophies take his Brit Awards total...

Brits are ‘Harry’s House’ as Styles sweeps the board with four wins
Image
The 2023 Brit awards have come to a conclusion – albeit a slightly uneventful one.

Britain’s biggest night in music saw a number of repeat winners, with Isle of Wight duo Wet Leg and Harry Styles taking home multiple awards.

The awards ceremony was held on Saturday 11 February.

The event kicked off at London’s O2 arena with a star-studded red carpet. Celebrities including Styles, Sam Smith, Salma Hayek, Lewis Capaldi, and Ellie Goulding struck a pose.

Smith, in particular, turned heads in their shiny black inflatable latex jumpsuit. You can see the boldest looks from the Brits here.

Comedian Mo Gilligan returned to host for a second time. The Masked Singer judge and Netflix star took over hosting duties from long-time presenter Jack Whitehall in 2022.

Unfortunately, Gilligan seemed to run into some technical issues with his autocue, when he appeared to introduce Wet Leg as “One Leg” and Lewis Capaldi...

In the international categories, Irish rock group Fontaines DC can be found muscling up against K-pop stars Blackpink and hip-hop artists Drake and 21 Savage.

The Artist of the Year category is entirely dominated by male acts, one year after the Brits scrapped gendered categories.

The biggest surprises are arguably the nominations of Ed Sheeran and Elton John’s Christmas song “Merry Christmas”, and “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from Disney’s hit animated feature film Encanto.

Last year’s ceremony was a lively affair, attended by stars including Sheeran and Adele,...

The Wanted singer Tom Parker nominated for posthumous National Television Award
Image
The Wanted singer Tom Parker has received a posthumous National Television Award nomination for his documentary about the charity concert he organised for cancer research.

Following his diagnosis with an inoperable brain tumour in 2020, Parker campaigned heavily for brain cancer awareness and organised a special concert, called Inside My Head, at the Royal Albert Hall last September. The show raised money for Stand Up To Cancer and The National Brain Appeal.

Six months after the concert took place, the British singer died in a hospice near his south-east London home on 30 March 2022, aged 33.

The Channel 4 documentary, also titled Inside My Head, followed Parker as he organised the event and also included footage of him and his family learning to live with his illness.

Parker will go up against Kate Garraway, who won the authored documentary category last year for a programme about her family's life after her husband, former political adviser Derek Draper,...

‘I’m a bit flustered right now’: Stormzy takes on football pundit role at Old Trafford
Image
Stormzy admitted he was “a bit flustered” after appearing on live television to share his views about Manchester United's 2-1 victory over Liverpool on Monday night (22 August).

The British artist joined football pundits Roy Keane, Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville after the match, telling the trio he was “starstruck”.

Dressed in a Manchester United top alongside his young nephews, who also wore team tracksuits, he waved at fans who recognised him from the stands.

“Sorry I'm a bit flustered right now,” he said, which made the former footballers laugh. “I've never met these guys before. We were just walking past and we were starstruck and someone gave me a mic and I'm up here like 'Mum, I made it'.

“This is sick though. Man's on telly with the boys.”

Asked by the Sky Sports team to offer his opinion of United star Cristiano Ronaldo, who was dropped from the starting line-up,...

Aitch says he’s ‘over it’ after Liam Gallagher turned down collaboration
Aitch
Aitch has said he is “over it” after Liam Gallagher turned down his request to collaborate on a song.

The Manchester rapper has long been campaigning for the former Oasis star to work with him.

Turning down the offer earlier this year, Gallagher, a Manchester City supporter, had said: “He seems like a nice lad, but I don’t want to be on anyone’s album… He’s a [Manchester] United fan, so it ain’t f***ing happening. No mate. But I do appreciate the fact that he thinks I’m cool.”

Reflecting on Gallagher’s words months later, Aitch has now said in a new interview: “I’m over it. He’s a Blue, and I’m a Red, I’m never gonna change, and he’s never going to change, it is what it is.”

He told The Telegraph: “He actually came to watch me. I did a...
