‘Caddy Hack’ Blu-ray Review
Image
Stars: Jim Gordon, Jake Foy, Chrissy Cavallo, Nick Twist, Ilene Sullivan, John Evans | Written and Directed by Anthony Catanese

Prior to an impending golf tournament, a struggling golf course is beset by a string of caddy murders from pesticide-mutated gophers. The latest film from writer/director Anthony Catanese crosses Caddyshack with a monster movie, intending for a horror flick that will leave viewers laughing yet instead feels created title-first and worked backwards.

Intending to keep his golf course running by covering up the carnage is owner Wells Landon (Jim Gordon), who is an evident stand-in for Trump. As he talks about his tiny hands, wears an awful wig, and lusts after a young female relative, this is a very heavy-handed inclusion. Between bullied caddie Googie (Jake Foy) and dim-witted groundskeeper Hambone (Nick Twist), nobody on-screen resembles an actual person, although calling them cartoons would be insulting to an already undervalued medium.

‘Hi-Fear’ Review
Image
Stars: Kristin Lorenz, Jack McCord, Dilynn Fawn Harvey, Todd Martin, Trish Erickson-Martin, Geoff Allen, Sheila Brandon Allen, P.J. Brescia, Brandon E. Brooks, Ingrid Dittmeier Hansen, Julie Anne Prescott, Leila Jean Davis | Written by Brad Sykes, Todd Sheets, Anthony Catanese, Tim Ritter, Josephina Sykes | Directed by Brad Sykes, Todd Sheets, Anthony Catanese, Tim Ritter

Hi-Fear is the final instalment of the trilogy that started in 2013 with Hi-8 and was followed in 2018 by Hi-Death. These anthologies have been tributes to the glory days of shot-on-video horror and were made by many of the pioneers of that movement. This time out, the framing segment “What Are You Afraid Of?”, written and directed by Brad Sykes from a story by Brad and Josephina Sykes introduces us to Natalie, an artist tasked with creating the splash pages for four tales of horror for the comic Hi-Fear.

Hi-Fear’s first story, “Losing It At The...

Hi-Fear Producers On Their Final Film In The Horror Trilogy
Image
Currently available to stream on Digital, Hi-Fear is the third and final film in Wild Eye Releasing's Hi trilogy. The horror anthology follows an illustrator who is tasked with creating four unique stories for an upcoming comic book. However, each tale forces her to delve deeper into her own fears, and the lines between fiction and reality begin to blur.

Husband and wife duo, Brad and Josephina Sykes, serve as executive producers for all three Hi movies and have written several story segments. In addition to their work on the trilogy, the couple has been involved with projects such as Lord of the Vampires and Cold Ones. Hi-Fear's ensemble cast includes Kristin Lorenz, David Sobel, Adam Novak, Jack L. McCord, Travis Youmans, Skyler Roberts, Alexander Brotherton, Leila Jean Davis, Bella Mozzarella, Shelno Mullins, Amanda C. Healy, Ingrid Hansen, Pj Brescia, and Julie Anne Prescott.

Caddy Hack Trailer Unleashes Killer Gophers on a Golf Course
Image
Wild Eye Releasing has released the official trailer for Caddy Hack, an indie horror flick with killer gophers on a golf course. Of course, the title is a play on Caddyshack, the classic comedy movie by director Harold Ramis that featured Bill Murray's character feuding with a cunning gopher. The gophers are much more dangerous in Caddy Hack, as you can find out from watching the trailer for the horror movie below.

In the movie, per the synopsis, "a struggling golf course suffers a string of caddy murders at the paws of pesticide-mutated gophers, while the greedy owner of the facility tries to cover up the carnage and an unhinged groundkeeper wages all out war on the vicious vermin."

Light on budget but heavy on entertainment value, Caddy Hack is set to have its world premiere at Kevin Smith's Smodcastle theater in Atlantic Heights, New Jersey on Aug.

Caddy Hack trailer puts a horror twist on Caddyshack
Image
2023 marks the forty-third anniversary of the release of the comedy classic Caddyshack, which starred Rodney Dangerfield, Chevy Chase, and Bill Murray as characters who spend a lot of time at a country club that has a bit of a gopher problem. The mischievous, dancing gopher (and Chase) returned for a less-well-regarded sequel eight years later… and now writer/director Anthony Catanese is putting a horror twist on the concept with Caddy Hack! A trailer for the film can be seen in the embed above.

Caddy Hack will be premiering at Kevin Smith’s Smodcastle theatre in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey on August 11th. A Blu-ray, DVD, and digital release will follow in October, courtesy of Wild Eye Releasing.

The film tells the story of a struggling golf course that suffers a string of caddy murders at the paws of pesticide-mutated gophers while the greedy owner of the facility tries to...

Crazy Trailer for 'Caddy Hack' Horror 'Gremlins' x 'Caddyshack' Film
Image
"I can't have my members playing through a dead caddy!" These pesky little critters! Wild Eye Releasing has unveiled an official trailer for Caddy Hack - a wacky, super low budget horror comedy creation from filmmaker Anthony Catanese. It's premiering at Kevin Smith's Smodcastle theater in Atlantic Highlands, NJ this August before a direct-to-vod release in the fall. This is described as a mash-up between Caddyshack and Gremlins, which sounds like good fun. The film follows a struggling golf course that suffers a string of caddy murders at the paws of pesticide-mutated gofers, while the greedy owner of the facility tries to cover up the carnage and an unhinged groundkeeper wages all-out war on the vicious little vermin. Starring Jim Gordon, Jake Foy, Chrissy Cavallo, Nick Twist, Ilene Sullivan, and John Evans. Yeah, this looks so ridiculous and cheap and hilariously dumb that it might be crazy fun to watch.

‘Girls Just Wanna Have Blood’ Review
Image
Stars: Amanda Renee, Destyne Marshai, Penny Praline, Gigi Gustin, Bettina Skye, Craig Kelly, Kirk Ponton, David M. Sitbon | Written and Directed by Anthony Catanese

“The only positive thing about you is your HIV status.”

As one would naturally expect, Girls Just Wanna Have Blood opens with a deadly bite of sickly sleaze, but is yet accompanied (and quite often too) with a killer rock soundtrack… almost Giallo-esque. The biters? Trish (Destyne Marshai), April (Penny Praline) and Stacy (Gigi Gustin) – they use seduction to gain the attention of their victims. Essentially, they are the sleazed-up, youthful version of the Sanderson sisters from Hocus Pocus, but vampires instead of witches . If anything serious can be read in this film or taken from it, it is the concept of family and the theme of belonging is ever present. For the unfortunate Jessica (Amanda Renee), the opportunity to belong is exactly how the vampiric...

First Trailer for Sultry Horror Comedy 'Girls Just Wanna Have Blood'
Bettina Skye
"Do you think you can handle us? All three of us?" Wild Eye Releasing has debuted an official trailer for an indie horror comedy titled Girls Just Wanna Have Blood, which is too obvious of a name to actually be clever. Described as a "bloody and unique new addition to the vampire-pic subsection", the film is the latest from filmmaker Anthony Cantanese. When Jessica is accepted by a trio of fun loving vampires, she finds herself thrust into a lifestyle full of long nights, sex-crazed bikers, and blood suckin' galore. It should not surprise anyone this is headed straight-to-vod this summer, barely looks like a B-movie. Girls Just Wanna Have Blood stars Amanda Renee, Bettina Skye, David M. Sitbon, Kirk Ponton, and Gigi Gustin. I don't know how these films get made or who they're for, but it exists, and it's available to view soon anyway. Here's the first trailer...

Stars: Julia Vally, Todd Sheets, Fabiana Formica, Kate Durocher, Dilynn Fawn Harvey, Jensen Jacobs, Renee Galarza, Jay Sosnicki, Antwoine Steele, Todd Martin, Kristen Adams, Thomas Kindler, Billy Nicholson, Eve Smith, Mike Gordon | Written by Anthony Catanese, Amanda Payton, Tim Ritter, Todd Sheets, Brad Sykes, Josephina Sykes | Directed by Anthony Catanese, Amanda Payton, Tim Ritter, Todd Sheets, Brad Sykes

I’m a longtime fan of horror anthology films. I think it goes back to my love of short fiction, something I still really love to this day, and being able to get a snapshot of a story, a quick, often deliberate, sometimes hectic, slice of the chosen genre. Horror is a genre I’ve had a extended love affair with, and so mixing those two things together is a big plus for me. Released by Wild Eye Releasing, Hi-Death brings five new stories with it, each one different in tone, style and,...
