Martin Scorsese's long and illustrious career in film requires no introduction. But has the legendary director ever dabbled in television? The answer is yes. From overseeing a few episodes of the HBO period drama "Boardwalk Empire" to helming the Netflix docuseries "Pretend It's a City," Scorsese has worked in the medium a few times over the years. In 2016, he was even involved in a rather ambitious television project: another HBO period drama titled "Vinyl," which he created in collaboration with Mick Jagger, Rich Cohen, and Terence Winter. The core idea was to capture the glamor and nostalgia of the record industry in the 1970s, complete with raucous spectacle and, maybe, a sprinkle of hedonistic excess.
However, the problem with "Vinyl" — which starts off strong thanks to its Scorsese-directed pilot — is precisely this desperate celebration of excess. Without something powerful or substantial to ground it, "Vinyl" fell into its genre...

Recurring Martin Scorsese collaborator Bobby Cannavale reveals he believes he disappointed the director after the cancellation of their 2016 TV show. Cannavale made his screen debut in Sidney Lumet's 1996 crime drama Night Falls on Manhattan and followed it up with the HBO television film When Trumpets Fade in 1998. He then rose to prominence on the TV crime-drama series Third Watch, and scored roles in big screen crime-thrillers such as Gloria, The Bone Collector, and 3 A.M., before achieving greater recognition with a supporting role in Will & Grace.
His breakout role came with the 2012 crime drama Boardwalk Empire, one of the best TV period dramas set in the 1920s, in which he played the role of Gyp Rosetti. Scorsese produced the show for HBO, which ran for five seasons, and directed the pilot episode. Cannavale would team up with him again with the epic crime film The Irishman in 2019. However,...

Last November, James Gunn cast Skyler Gisondon as the Dcu's Jimmy Olsen in Superman. However, he's not the only actor to have recently been picked to play the Man of Steel's best pal, as Douglas Smith will show up as the beloved Daily Planet photographer in Superman & Lois' final season.
This version of the character has previously been described as an "extroverted 20-something" known for being "the 'life of the party' around the office." The site adds, "Despite being work colleagues with Clark, he’s been unable to get him out of his 'awkward' shell. Unaware of Clark’s super-secret, Jimmy’s still determined to become his pal."
In a clip from episode 7 - titled "A Regular Guy" - we see an enthusiastic Jimmy attempt to befriend Clark Kent ahead of a softball game. However, he doesn't have much luck given the hero's reluctance to risk revealing his powers to the world.

Margot Robbie’s role in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street really goes to show her unparalleled ability to command the screen in a way only she can. But if fans were to revisit the role and delve into its history and things that went behind the scenes, it’s intriguing to note that Don’t Worry Darling star Olivia Wilde, once revealed that she too competed for the same role.
Shockingly, Wilde was indeed in contention before being deemed “too old” for the part, leaving her with a deep yearning for what could have been. Despite her desire, losing the role to Robbie did not create ill feelings between the two, since Wilde claimed she completely detached herself from the character emotionally. However, everything ultimately worked out, as Scorsese later booked Wilde for his drama series Vinyl.

Olivia Wilde's net worth is valued at $10,569,736, with significant assets in bank accounts, stocks, bonds, and real estate. She has successfully transitioned into directing, with buzzy films like "Booksmart" and "Don't Worry Darling" under her belt. Despite controversies, Wilde has proven herself to be a talented filmmaker with a knack for creating resonant and entertaining movies.
Olivia Wilde has starred in many popular movies and TV shows, and she has the net worth to match. Born in 1984 to a family of writers, the actress uses the stage name "Wilde" instead of her family name "Cockburn" as an homage to wrier Oscar Wilde and a reference to her dual Irish citizenship (via Biography). Wilde began her career after appearing in the TV series Skin in 2003, costarring as Jewel Goldman. HBO's Vinyl soundtrack features iconic songs from the 1950s to the 1970s and covers by contemporary artists, capturing the music scene of 1970s New York City. The eclectic soundtrack blends hip-hop, punk, rock 'n' roll, and disco, showcasing both popular tracks and lesser-known artists from the era. Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger curated the soundtrack using the Atlantic Records & Warner Bros. Records libraries, drawing on their firsthand experience and knowledge of the music of the time.

Suzy Eddie Izzard and Ed Speleers (Downton Abbey) are among the actors who have joined the supporting cast of Midas Man, the feature biopic of Beatles Manager Brian Epstein.
In the pic, Izzard portrays British music promoter Allan Williams, famously known as “The Man Who Gave Away The Beatles,” while Ed Speleers is Tex Ellington, Epstein’s love interest. Other additions include Darci Shaw (The Colour Room), who plays singer Cilla Black, and Milo Parker (Mr. Holmes) is Epstein’s longtime assistant, Alastair Taylor.
Previous cast attached to the project included actors Lukas Gage, Bill Milner, and Rosie Day. We understand the changes were due to scheduling issues because of delays to production following multiple creative changes to the pic. Last week, we reported that UK director Joe Stephenson (Doctor Jekyll) quietly took the reins earlier this year from previous filmmaker Sara Sugarman (Vinyl), who left after what sources described...

Boardwalk Empire star Michael Shannon details his chaotic first meeting with the show's executive producer and famed film director, Martin Scorsese. Running on HBO for five seasons and based on the non-fiction book of the same name by Nelson Johnson, Broadwalk Empire is a crime drama series that takes place mainly in Atlantic City, New Jersey, during the Prohibition era. The story focused on Steve Buscemi as Nucky Thompson, a powerful political boss loosely based on a real-life figure. Along with Buscemi and Shannon, who played Nelson Van Alden, the Broadwalk Empire cast featured a large group of main and recurring actors such as Charlie Cox and Jeffrey Wright.
Looking back on his career for Vanity Fair, Shannon reflected on meeting the legendary Scorsese for the first time. Shannon mentions how he learned about having a conversation with Scorsese and how he had to deal with terrible traffic on the way to the meetinga.

Considering Ray Romano has worn so many hats in his career – comedian, actor, writer, producer – it’s hard to believe that the multi-hyphenate had never directed before. When I mention I assumed he had at least directed one of the 210 episodes of his acclaimed series “Everybody Loves Raymond,” Romano jokes: “Me too. I thought I must have directed one of them, right? But no, I had never done it.”
So it comes as a surprise not only to audiences but to Romano himself that he’s making his directorial debut with the feature film “Somewhere in Queens,” a poignant comedy about a working-class Italian family that hits theaters this weekend. The film is so resonant in so many ways...

Most auteurs prefer their starlets to be seen and not heard, but as any good writer or filmmaker knows, your actors only elevate the material on screen. With Olivia Wilde, Vinyl creators Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger, Terence Winter and Rich Cohen found a lynch-pin collaborator, who infused more blood and guts into her character Devon— a 1970s free spirit femme and wife to rock label czar Richie Finestra (Bobby Cannavale)—than possibly imagined.
After playing all sides in an array of genres including Tron: Legacy, Cowboys & Aliens, Rush and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, Devon was a role that harnessed Wilde’s entire core, exposing the shades, hues and warts of a tortured spouse who has outgrown her time. Even though Vinyl didn’t meet HBO’s expectations with the network bailing on a second season after severing ties with Winter on the series, we can’t forget the breathless...

Last September, HBO made a rare sweep of the top series categories at the Primetime Emmy Awards, with Game of Thrones winning best drama and Veep winning best comedy. Soon after that, Michael Lombardo started to contemplate an exit from the job as president of programming of HBO that he had held for eight years.
“It was a great time because winning the Emmys had been an enormous achievement in terms of what we have done,” he said in an interview with Deadline.
Besides the fact that it would be hard for him to top the Emmy achievement, Lombardo started to question his career path.
“I recognized that going forward, less and less of my time would be spent developing shows, that I would be spending less and less time with talent and more and more of my job is being a studio executive.” That involves “spending most of my day managing people,...
