‘Squealer’ VOD Review
Image
Stars: Danielle Burgio, Wes Chatham, Sydney Carvill, Ronnie Gene Blevins, Kate Moennig, Tyrese Gibson, Theo Rossi | Written by Andy Armstrong, Danielle Burgio | Directed by Andy Armstrong

Squealer is one of two films, the other being Chad Ferrin’s Pig Killer, inspired by Canadian serial killer, rapist, and possible cannibal Robert Pickton. Pickton killed as many as 49 women and fed many of the bodies to the pigs on his farm, others he allegedly ground up and added to pork that he sold to the public.

Squealer begins on an equally sensational note as a silhouetted figure armed with a machete chases a naked woman through some scrubland. She’s struck by an Rv whose occupants take her to the hospital.

Lisa, a social worker who tries to help the local sex workers wants to find out who is responsible, especially after the woman panics and runs from the hospital and gets hit by a truck.

‘Squealer’ Ending Explained & Movie Summary: What Became Of Jack, Sadie, And Lisa?
Image
Andy Armstrong’s Squealer started with a harrowing scene. In the middle of the night, we witness an unclothed woman running continuously. The woman was disoriented and probably running from someone wanting to harm her. An old couple driving down the road found her and took her to the hospital. The woman’s entire body was punctured with needles, and she had blood stains all over her body. Her condition was dire, and the doctor had to perform a carotid to help her breathe. The woman kept saying that someone had taken her captive and was looking for her. Cops and the doctor, on the other hand, said she was a drug addict and was talking gibberish. So, who was the woman running from? The nightmare she was having suggested that her kidnapper had been keeping her on a farm. Maybe he was a hunter, as his house was full...

Exclusive Moon Students Clip Shows Classroom Chaos in Covid Film
Image
Moon Student (noun)

An individual who endures a shattering defeat, but uses it to become a student of life.

A person on a mission to dig deeper into everything, to find out who they are, and to uncover what their true purpose/mission is in life. Someone spurred on to grow after a devastating loss.

That's the terminology touted by the new film Moon Students, which is set to be a charming and obviously topical indie comedy-drama that very well may make Sydney Carvill a star. Written, produced, and directed by Daniel Holland, the film is a reflection of our collective traumas over the past few years, starring the magnetic Carvill (Adalynn) as the most prominent member of a friend group who tries to endure and adapt to Covid-19, protests, and sociopolitical chaos as their lives and school experience are upended. You can check out an exclusive clip and more about the film below.

Adalynn – Discover the Truth inside the Nightmare. Available now on digital platforms
Image
Jacob ‘Jake’ Byrd’s visually stirring horror Adalynn is out now on digital platforms from Summer Hill Films, LLC.

Byrd’s debut, Adalynn follows a mother fighting postpartum depression and slipping over the edge. It becomes hard to distinguish where depression ends, and her nightmares turn real, as she and her newborn are haunted by a stalker unlike any other. ‘Adalynn’ trades in a space between horror, fantasy, ghosts, demons, the Satanic occult and dreams. Jerrod D.Britto wrote the pic.

The film stars Sydney Carvill known for ‘Keep in the Dark’ (2022) and ‘Moon Students’ (2022), with Wade Baker of ‘Division 19’ (2017) and ‘Airliner Sky Battle’ (2020) and Janet Carter from ‘Revenge for My Mother’ (2022) and ‘Swim Instructor Nightmare’ (2022). The film is produced by Malati ‘Mala’ Patil & Jake Byrd and co-produced by filmmaking veteran Straw Weisman.

The film, also starring Sydney Carvill (Keep in the Dark), Wade Baker (Division 19), and Janet...

Official Trailer for Nightmare Horror Film 'Adalynn' About a New Mom
Image
"I saw what I saw, okay?!" Summer Hill Films has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror film titled Adalynn, the latest from filmmaker Jake Byrd. It will be out on VOD in March, skipping theaters entirely. Because yeah this really does look like direct-to-video horror junk, taking an uninteresting idea and turning it into some derivative trash. In order to keep herself and her newborn baby alive, a mother must fight to overcome postpartum depression, grief, inner demons, sinister impulses, and an unseen tormentor until her husband can return home from his business trip. Adalynn trades in a space between horror, fantasy, ghosts, demons, the Satanic occult and dreams. Starring Sydney Carvill as Adalynn, with Wade Baker, Janet Carter, and Rob Shuster. This looks like a tedious psychological thriller made by a first year film student. // Continue Reading ›...

Image
Stars: Brooke Butler, Ashley Doris, Andy Cohen, Sydney Carvill, Lisa Roumain, Skip Howland, Robbie Allen | Written and Directed by Justin Lareau

“Urban Legends are everywhere” the text at the beginning of Lantern’s Lane tells us, before adding “But some are real”. And writer/director Justin Lareau (A Demon Within) based his script on a legend from his hometown of Watseka Illinois, but somehow in the retelling, it went from a ghost story to a slasher.

Layla left home to attend college, and like many young people never went back. Now, at the invitation of her old friend Missy she’s coming back for a visit.

She meets up with Missy and another old friend, plus a new addition to the group Shana (Sydney Carvill) at a bar. Drinks and reminiscing lead to the group heading out to the town’s haunted street, Lantern’s Lane. But there’s something a...
