Exclusive: Tyler Labine, star of NBC’s New Amsterdam, is joining All Night Wrong, the comedy from director Jason James and starring Oscar nominee Maria Bakalova and Zach Cherry. Deadline’s Rosy Cordero first reported on the project.

In the Jason Filiatrault written movie, Bakalova and Cherry lead the cast as Gary, a cowardly husband, and Ell, a heartbroken widow, who meet through a Tinder hookup only to end up with a killer’s car, a dead body and $40,000 in cash. Canada’s Inside Out queer festival announces projects for seventh finance forum (exclusive)

2023 edition of international finance forum adds episodic content to line-up.

Canadian 2Slgbtq+ film festival Inside Out has unveiled 11 projects to participate in this weekend’s seventh annual international finance forum, which is moving ahead after the end of the Hollywood strikes.

The two-day forum had been scheduled to run during Inside Out’s flagship festival in Toronto in May and now takes place from November 17-18.

The agenda includes in-person conversations and interactive panel discussions with queer filmmakers and producers, as well as one-on-one meetings with executives, and roundtable sessions on co-producing with Canada, and entertainment law and music rights.

Celebrating its milestone 20th anniversary, the Brooklyn Film Festival closed June 11 after screening 122 features and shorts from 32 countries. Zag has joined forces with Chris Columbus’ 1492 Pictures and Ocean Blue Entertainment on the live-action-animation hybrid 12/24.

Matt Lieberman wrote the screenplay from an original idea by David Guggenheim, who will produce with Madhouse Entertainment. Columbus, Michael Barnathan and Mark Radcliffe will produce for 1492 Pictures.

12/24 (pictured) follows two brothers who try to prove the existence of Father Christmas and set an elaborate trap on Christmas Eve.

Thunderbird ties up with 'Entanglement'
Exclusive: Vancouver-based Thunderbird Films continues its push into sales and announced at Afm it has acquired worldwide rights to the comedy Entanglement starring Thomas Middleditch and Jess Weixler.

The production, distribution and rights management company will begin talks here on the story about a man searching for meaning who gets more than he bargains for when he uncovers a family secret that leads him to a special woman.

Resonance Films’ Jason James directed the film, which wrapped production last week and is produced by James and Amber Ripley of Goodbye Productions. Jason Filiatrault wrote the screenplay.

The producers describe the project as being in the vein of 500 Days Of Summer and Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind.

Paramore Win Best Album at 2010 Kerrang! Awards
Paramore has added one trophy to their awards collection with a single win at 2010 Kerrang! Awards. Nominated for four categories at the U.K.'s annual music awards, the rock band fronted by singer Hayley Williams only managed to walk home with a kudo for Best Album, thanks to their third studio album, "Brand New Eyes".

Despite securing the win for Best Album, the five-man band have to see the other three kudos slipping away from their hands. The Best Video nod went to Biffy Clyro for their music video of "The Captain", the Best Live Band prize was awarded to Bullet For My Valentine, and the Best International Band trophy was handed to 30 Seconds to Mars.

Vancouver shifting into Olympics mode
Toronto -- As athletes prepare to compete for gold at the Vancouver Winter Olympics next month, film and TV producers have begun to run a gauntlet of road closures and security restrictions in and around the host city.

Los Angeles and local producers have been told by Mayor Gregor Robertson that the downtown core and areas with Olympic venues will be off-limits to location filming during the Feb. 12-28 Games and the Paralympic Games in March.

Vancouver will continue to issue film permits for shooting in suburban locales that might stand in for the city. Local soundstages, post and visual effects facilities outside the downtown core will remain open.

And L.A. producers still will be able to secure script breakdowns, digital location packages, scouts and ongoing production support from the B.C. Film Commission through the Games.

But disruption in Hollywood North during the Olympics will be inevitable for...

Three join 'Repeaters' cast
Dustin Milligan
Toronto -- Dustin Milligan, Amanda Crew and Richard de Clerk are to star in "Repeaters," a thriller from Rampart Films about three young people struggling against personal demons and addictions in mandatory rehab.

The indie Canadian drama from director Carl Bessai, to shoot in Mission, British Columbia, through January, was penned by Arnie Olsen.

Jason James and Irene Nelson are producing, with Melanie de Klerk and Andy Herwitz as executive producers. The Film Sales Company is handling world sales.

Telefilm Canada Finances 17 Films In English
For this week, Telefilm Canada had announced the 27 films that it will support for 2010. Among these films, 17 will be in English. Of course, rest assured: some of the films will have a commercial nature and some will be low-budget independent films. The following is the list of films.
