Many characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are far different to their Marvel Comics counterparts, and, in some cases, this is a very good thing. Since the MCU kicked off with 2008's Iron Man almost 17 years ago, Marvel Studios has adapted dozens of notable characters from Marvel Comics into live-action, building a vibrant universe full of many complex and believable people. While many of these MCU characters are very comic-accurate, Marvel Studios has made huge changes to others, but this has often been for the best.

The likes of Steve Rogers' Captain America, Tony Stark's Iron Man and Loki, among many others, have always stayed very faithful to their depictions in Marvel Comics. However, because of the modern setting and realistic nature of the MCU and in the name of simplifying some convoluted backstories, Marvel Studios has altered many aspects of some notable Marvel Comics characters when bringing them into the MCU.

Marvel Studios' Agatha All Along was originally listed as a miniseries, but the fact that Disney submitted the show in the comedy categories for the upcoming awards season led to speculation that a second batch of episodes might be in development.

Rumors that a second season is in the planning stages soon followed, and while Marvel has yet to make it official, we will almost certainly see Miss Harkness in the MCU again in some capacity.

Star Kathryn Hahn - who lost out on a Best Actress Golden Globe during Sunday's ceremony - was asked about the awards submissions and what they could mean for a second season while speaking to TV Line on the red carpet.

After spending decades in development hell, a live-action adaptation of the Neil Gaiman comic book series The Sandman actually made it into production and was released into the world as a Netflix series in August of 2022. (Read our review Here.) Season 2 of the show went into production last year, then had to be put on pause for a while due to the writers and actors strikes. Thankfully, The Sandman season 2 was able to resume production as soon as those strikes came to an end – and today, a press release reveals that the cast of the new batch of episodes includes Esmé Creed-Miles (Hanna) as Delirium, Adrian Lester (Hustle) as Destiny, and Barry Sloane (Pleasureland) as The Prodigal. Their characters can be seen in this promo clip:

The Match Factory has secured the rights for Berlinale Competition title “Dying,” by German director Matthias Glasner. Wild Bunch will be distributing the film in Germany, Austria and German-speaking Switzerland.

The winners were being revealed live on Fox on Monday (January 15) at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

In order to be eligible for this year’s awards, TV shows needed to air between June 1, 2022 and May 31, 2023.

This was actually the 2023 Emmy Awards show, which was scheduled to take place in September. The ceremony was delayed due to the Hollywood labor disputes, so it was added to the awards season calendar on a Monday night. The Emmys aired live with Anthony Anderson hosting the event.

The delayed 2023 Emmy Awards are airing tonight, and it might be months since you’ve seen the list of nominees!

The nominations were announced all the way back in July 2023, but due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes that were happening at the time, the 2023 show was delayed. It normally would have aired in September 2023, but instead, is airing tonight (January 15).

Sunday’s Critics Choice Awards pretty much stuck to the same script as last week’s Golden Globes, with Netflix’s Beef, Hulu’s The Bear and HBO’s Succession emerging as the big TV winners.

Both Beef and The Bear won four trophies apiece, including Best Limited Series and Best Comedy Series, respectively. Succession, meanwhile, snagged three awards, including Best Drama Series.

Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio is finally streaming on Netflix, but this story about the wooden puppet is much darker than the Disney version audiences have come to know. Directed by del Toro and Mark Gustafson, the stop-motion animation was in development for several years before Netflix acquired Pinocchio in 2018. Since the film also follows Pinocchio’s journey, the comparisons to Disney’s iteration of the story, and especially because the latter’s live-action film released just months before del Toro’s, are hard to avoid despite the two being almost nothing alike beyond the surface.

The Mad Titan, Thanos, is Marvel's most recognizable villain thanks to his appearance in the most successful MCU movies and his enduring presence in the comics. However, not every Marvel fan knows that Thanos has actually changed quite a lot during the course of the decades, to the point that the Mad Titan of today shares very little with the one who appeared in the iconic Infinity Gauntlet saga.

Thanos is the brainchild of Jim Starlin, a legendary creator whose work was fundamental in building what is known today as Marvel's "cosmic" setting, meaning the big space-faring sagas that take place away from Earth. Starlin created Thanos in 1972 as a young artist working as a guest illustrator for Iron Man #55, his first actual job for Marvel. This early Thanos was clearly inspired by the DC characters Darkseid and Metron, however, he was also deeply influenced by Starlin's own beliefs and ideas.

DC Comics is filled with numerous heroes who don't always get the credit they deserve, much less their own video games - even if they could be amazing and fun or even philosophical and thought-provoking. The unique and creative abilities that many of these DC characters possess seem almost to guarantee game mechanics that would be entertaining along with preloaded storylines that would be engaging (and relatively unfamiliar to many).

There are over 10,000 characters in the DC Universe, with all types of imaginative capabilities and stories. The unique and downright weird powers of these heroes in a DC game would be a clever way to bring new mechanics to video games. Today's technology would allow for these abilities to be transformed into enjoyable interactive activities, possibly even to be experienced in VR. Exclusive: Netflix has greenlit a second season of Neil Gaiman‘s The Sandman.

Deadline understands that the streamer is bringing back the comic book adaptation after various conflicting reports started to surface online.

The Sandman, which launched at the start of August, was watched for 69.5M hours in its first week, doubling this in its second to 127.5M, scoring 77.2M in its third week and getting 53.8M in its fourth.

The renewal confirmation follows an accidental leak on Wednesday by DC Comics’ official Twitter page. The since deleted tweet read, “The dream continues. [The Sandman] will return with new episodes based on multiple volumes of the Neil Gaiman graphic novel to explore even more stories of the Endless.”
