It's common Hollywood practice for a comedic actor to break out of their comfort zone and take on the gauntlet of a dramatic performance. Over the years, many hilarious actors have demonstrated their proficiency in this endeavor. Legendary comedian Steve Carell is a prime example of someone who excels at shifting between genres — after leaving the hit NBC sitcom The Office, which is now getting a reboot, he went on to deliver several stellar dramatic performances.
The opposite is a far less likely scenario. For the most part, actors who built their careers upon dramatic roles stay in their lane. Unless they've had previous experience with the comedy genre, their presence is generally unexpected. However, when a serious movie star gives comedy a try, it's always hysterical, as the no-nonsense image that their prior roles have created is immediately and hilariously broken down.

Justin Baldoni's lawyer claims that one Deadpool & Wolverine character was created to mock the star as It Ends With Us legal battles between lead stars Blake Lively and Baldoni continue. In late December, Lively formally launched a lawsuit against Baldoni and others for sexual harassment and orchestrating a smear campaign aimed at destroying her reputation. Meanwhile, Baldoni and his legal team are suing The New York Times for defamation. Lively starred as Ladypool in her husband, Ryan Reynold's Marvel feature.
Baldoni's attorney Bryan Freeman appeared on Megyn Kelly's show to discuss the legal battle, in which he addressed the rumor about Reynold's Nicepool being used to mock the star, as reported by Comic Book Movie. Freeman pointed out the "hair bun" and "the comment about the pregnancy" being an obvious reference to Baldoni. Check out what he said below:

By now, you've probably heard about the It Ends With Us lawsuit revolving around Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. Lively has accused her co-star and director of sexual harassment, creating a hostile work environment, and orchestrating a smear campaign against her.
She's also claimed that Baldoni engaged in unscripted physical intimacy, discussed his sex life inappropriately, and tried to add a graphic sex scene without consent. Baldoni countersued, alleging Lively attempted to seize control of the film's editing process and damaged his reputation to fix hers.
Both parties have denied the other's accusations and each has shared evidence backing up at least some of their allegations. Now, though, Deadpool & Wolverine has been dragged into the heated back-and-forth.
Baldoni's attorney Bryan Freeman recently appeared on Megyn Kelly's show to discuss the legal battle and was asked about speculation that Ryan Reynolds' Nicepool was used to mock the actor following his on-set clashes with Reynolds' wife.

Blake Lively's complaint against It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni, filed on Dec. 20, let the public know that the issues between the two on set were more serious than they seemed. However, while the lawsuit was supposed to start her journey to justice, Baldoni filed his own lawsuit at the end of the year.
During an interview with Megyn Kelly on The Megyn Kelly Show, Justin Baldoni's attorney, Bryan Freedman, confirmed that they are planning to sue Blake Lively "into oblivion." The lawyer promised the lawsuit would be "full of evidence, admissions, documents", doubling down on his recent promise to release proof for their allegations. At the same time, Freedman revealed they also intend to sue Ryan Reynolds and addressed the viral claim that the Deadpool & Wolverine variant, Nicepool, is a dig at Justin Baldoni.

The attorney for Justin Baldoni said on Tuesday that the on-set tensions and allegations of sexual harassment from Blake Lively against his client — “It Ends With Us” director and co-star Justin Baldoni — stemmed from the “unfortunate fact” that Lively did not read the book the film was based on.
Bryan Freedman told Megyn Kelly that Lively, who filed a sexual harassment complaint against Baldoni on Dec. 20, “didn’t understand” some of the content of the film, which is based on the novel of the same name by Colleen Hoover. He did not provide evidence for his assertion that Lively did not read the “It Ends With Us” source material.
Freedman argued if Lively was “sexually harassed to such a degree,”as detailed in her New Year’s Eve lawsuit, “she wouldn’t [have] return[ed] to the film.”

When David Fincher directed “Se7en” in 1995, his reputation was strangely bifurcated. On the one hand, he was a supremely successful commercial and music video director at the top of his field, having helmed innovative and influential shorts for icons including Madonna, Sting, and Rick Springfield. On the other, his one attempt at feature filmmaking, “Alien 3,” had been a bust — a critical disappointment liked by virtually no one, including Fincher himself. Although it has since developed a bit of a cult following, Fincher disowned “Alien 3” and famously said that he’d rather die of colon cancer than direct another movie.
Luckily for him, and for us, Fincher changed his mind when he came across Andrew Kevin Walker’s script for “Se7en,” a perfectly calibrated blend of intellectual philosophizing and pulpy exploitation that ended up beautifully served by Fincher’s unerring ability to push the psychic trauma the story inflicted...

Cool air in the evenings, pumpkins on doorsteps, and Spirit of Halloween stores everywhere you look. Yes, it is the most wonderful time of the year for a certain set of us who like our weather settings left at “autumnal” and our genre of choice to be on the spooky side of things.
With that in mind, one of the most pleasurable things to do each October is curl up with a good horror movie and feel the goosebumps gather on the back of your neck. But how do you know if something is a good horror movie, exactly? You watch it for yourself, or you trust the experts, of course! For instance, the most popular streaming service in the world, Netflix, offers a cornucopia of chillers, but which are the ones that might be worth your time? Our staff has put their heads together and come up with the below list.

Be nice to waiters. That’s the first lesson of new four-part BBC One drama Boiling Point. Be nice to waiters not only because it’s nice to be nice, but because however calm and smiling they emerge from behind those flapping kitchen doors, inside blows a hurricane. Personal dramas and business pressures, dodgy colleagues, nightmare customers, shifts that end at midnight and leave you buzzing with adrenaline that needs to go somewhere… it’s the perfect cocktail for dysfunction and conflict. Handily, that in turn is the perfect cocktail for TV drama, as we know from rightly critically acclaimed US series The Bear (watch that and watch this too; there’s plenty of room for both.)
Boiling Point’s second lesson is just to let this creative team get on with it. Give them a second series with the full six episodes immediately, please, because they clearly know what they’re doing.

"One ring to rule them all." No, this isn't J.R.R. Tolkien's universe; it's a sci-fi B-movie starring Josh Hutcherson and Morgan Freeman. 57 Seconds — not 56, not 58 — is their latest project, about an unlikely duo occupying a futuristic society where pharmaceutical CEOs rule the world and time-traveling jewelry might just save (or corrupt) civilization as we know it. Sound familiar? 57 Seconds has familiar themes that weave together a rather thin plot about exposing the dark truths behind the most powerful men on Earth.
Time Travel with an Investigative Twist
Many fans will remember Josh Hutcherson from the beloved Hunger Games films, The Kids Are All Right, and The Disaster Artist. These are all great movies, and to that end, it seems like 57 Seconds is a bit of step back for the actor. Here he plays Franklin, an investigative journalist and blogger who narrates the tale in your typical expositional fashion,...

There are multiple canonical questions framed by Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 4 Episode 5, but the most pressing by far is how the Caitians and the Betazoids are both Federation members now when one species used to hunt and eat the other.
Seriously, how did that membership application go? As Betazoids don't appear until Tng and Caitians have served in Starfleet since Tas, how did the Caitians feel about their favorite main course protein suddenly becoming political peers?
Putting that aside, Boimler's training and T'Lyn's trauma are the other -- less morally confusing -- narrative pillars in a triumvirate of lessons in growth and acceptance.
Since her introduction on Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 2 Episode 9, T'Lyn's been a misfit of the highest order.
I've always maintained that the main takeaway from "Wej Duj" is that Boimler makes a better Klingon than Mariner makes a Vulcan (meaning T'Lyn).

Lt. Boimler's first away mission in Star Trek: Lower Decks season 4, episode 3, "In the Cradle of Vexilon," sends him to a strange room resembling Twin Peaks' Red Room. The appearance of the Red Room is likely just a shoutout to Twin Peaks and doesn't have significant meaning in the Star Trek universe. Twin Peaks and Star Trek have several connections, including shared actors and the involvement of Catherine E. Coulson, who worked on both franchises. The mysterious koalas in Lower Decks are also a recurring gag.

It's hard to imagine "Seven" without its intense climax. As modern crime thrillers go, they don't get much better than David Fincher's 1995 effort, which truly established the arrival of the director as a subversive talent within Hollywood. "Seven" was a hit, becoming the 12th biggest film of the year domestically despite lackluster expectations and being what Brad Pitt called in an LA Times interview, "The feel-bad movie of '95."
The movie's shocking finale had a lot to do with that success, but it wasn't just a "twist ending" that propelled it. Fincher crafted a visceral world of grime and decay which, draped in cinematographer Darius Khondji's minimal lighting, became oddly alluring. Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt as detective duo William Somerset and David Mills delivered compelling performances, with Freeman in particular arguably at the apex of his career. But there's no escaping that ending, which delivers a gut...

While the main cast of Star Trek: Lower Decks may have been promoted to lieutenants at the start of Season 4, the officers still find themselves getting their hands dirty in the season's third episode. Titled "In the Cradle of Vexilon," the episode shows the main ensemble still acclimating to the responsibilities and changes in their roles on the USS Cerritos in the face of the latest crisis. Chaotic and unevenly paced, the episode is one of the weaker for Lower Decks in recent memory and struggles to become greater than the sum of its parts.
The Cerritos visits Vexilon, a world that's normally a sweeping paradise thanks to an ancient and benevolent artificial intelligence that maintains idyllic planetary conditions. However, when the program begins to break down, repairs instituted by Captain Carol Freeman cause conditions to quickly go haywire and leave the crew scrambling to restore the utopia. This comes...

This post contains spoilers for the premiere of "Star Trek: Lower Decks" season 4.
At the beginning of the fourth season of "Star Trek: Lower Decks," the four main characters Boimler (Jack Quaid), Mariner (Tawny Newsome), Tendi (Noël Wells), and Rutherford (Eugene Cordero) are each promoted from the lowly rank of ensign to the only slightly-less-lowly rank of lieutenant junior grade. They still don't have much clout on the U.S.S. Cerritos, but at least now they no longer have to sleep in a hallway. One can see their promotions right away as, on their collars, they wear one solid pip and one empty pip. That, any Trekkie will instantly tell you, is the configuration for a lieutenant junior grade.
It should be noted that "Star Trek" has, since its inception, used extant naval ranks to designate Starfleet officers. Just like in the real United States Navy, officers start at the rank of ensign,...

Captain Freeman's decision to follow Janeway's controversial "Tuvix" solution highlights the ethical dilemma and difficult choices faced by captains in the Star Trek universe. The following contains spoilers from Star Trek: Lower Decks, Season 4, Episode 1 "Twovix," now streaming on Paramount+.
Fans of Star Trek: Voyager likely recognize the reference to perhaps the most infamous episode in the title of Lower Decks' Season 4 premiere. The 24th episode of Voyager Season 2 was called "Tuvix," a portmanteau of "Tuvok" and "Neelix." Even 28 years after the episode debuted, fans still debate the moral dilemma posed by the episode, but Lower Decks just simplified it. The show may be an animated comedy, but it is still Star Trek, after all.
As is mentioned in the Lower Decks season premiere, Captain Janeway "straight-up murdered" Tuvix. The starship Voyager ended up stranded in the Delta Quadrant 75,000 light years from Earth. Their main mission was to get home, but they still sought out new life and strange new worlds. On a mission to collect, of all things, orchid samples, Tuvok and Neelix brought back a symbiogenetic orchid.

It’s been a minute since the last Marvel Cinematic Universe series hit Disney+, but as we cruise into summer 2023, we know that the streamer has three MCU shows lined up before the year’s out, including Loki season 2 and Echo. But first we have Secret Invasion, an event series that may change everything we know about some of our favorite MCU characters, set to kick off Phase 5.
In the big budget Marvel show, Nick Fury uncovers a conspiracy that a group of shapeshifting Skrulls are planning to infiltrate Earth in positions of power, and he has to get back to business and help save the day. Nick isn’t the only recognizable face in this story; Everett K. Ross, Maria Hill, Rhodey, and Talos will all make appearances here, but things may not quite be as they seem, as some major MCU characters are set to be unmasked as imposters.

The ballots were fake ballots, this was a very rigged election,”
Trump: First of all, I won in 2020 by a lot
Baier: You lost the 2020 election

Run Forest run… towards another Emmy. That was a terrible joke but Forest Whitaker again delivered another definitely-not-terrible performance in his guest actor role in “Andor.”
“Andor,” one of the best-reviewed shows of this year, is the Disney+ spin-off TV series of the spin-off “Star Wars” movie “Rogue One.” The series follows Diego Luna in the titular role of Cassian Andor as we find out how this scoundrel eventually joins the Rebel Alliance and becomes a crucial part of the fight against the Empire. Along the way, Cassian meets some key figures in “Star Wars” lore including Stellan Skarsgård‘s Luthen Rael and Whitaker’s Saw Gerrera.
This is just the latest appearance as Saw by Whitaker (more on that later) and the performer shines once again in a role he seems born for. Saw is part of one branch of those fighting against the Empire. He fights against the...

The Red cast contains both legendary action heroes satirizing their own on-screen image, like Bruce Willis, and traditional dramatic actors letting loose in an action hero role, like Helen Mirren. Based on the Homage Comics limited series of the same name, Red revolves around a retired CIA agent who reassembles his old team to exact revenge when a black-ops assassin is sent to kill him. With its juxtaposition of mundane problems like pension payments and action movie tropes like death squads, Red is an action comedy that delivers both action and comedy in spades.
Red was a big commercial hit when it arrived in theaters in 2010, grossing just under $200 million worldwide (via Box Office Mojo), and it received mostly positive reviews from critics. A sequel, Red 2, was released to similar box office success and a warm response from fans in 2013. Red 2 brought back a lot of the iconic actors from the original film,...

Marques Houston is being criticised for saying that women his age often come with “baggage or kids”.
The 41-year-old singer and actor, who is married to 22-year-old Miya Dickey, was attempting to explain why he preferred to date women who were younger than him.
“A red flag to me [was] always with a woman that had a kid,” he told Page Six. “Nothing against single women, but single mothers with children are a red flag for me.
“I tip my hat and respect women that are raising children on their own,” he added. “But when I grew up, I never really wanted to have kids.
“I would talk to my dad a lot, and he would always tell me to have your own kids because you never know what the baby daddy’s are about. So if you’re gonna have kids, make sure it is with a woman that never had kids.

Morgan Freeman has explained why he views the term African-American as “an insult” and aired out his issues with Black History Month in a rare interview with The Sunday Times.
“Two things I can say publicly that I do not like,” Freeman said. “Black History Month is an insult. You’re going to relegate my history to a month? Also ‘African-American’ is an insult. I don’t subscribe to that title.”
He continued, “Black people have had different titles all the way back to the N-word and I do not know how these things get such a grip, but everyone uses ‘African-American.’ What does it really mean? Most Black people in this part of the world are mongrels. And you say Africa as if it’s a country when it’s a continent, like Europe.”
Sunday Times Senior Writer Jonathan Dean cited a relevant quote from Denzel Washington, who once said,...
