Diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis aka Lou Gehrig disease). His mother had MS (multiple sclerosis).

Graduated from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada with a Bachlors degree in Landscape Architecture (BLA). During his five year program he played for the university soccer team, Guelph Gryphons, as a striker. He graduated with top honors, receiving the Canadian Society of Landscape Architecture Silver Medal award. He spent the fourth year of his program studying in Australia.

Married to actress Susan May Pratt in spring of 2006.

Attended David Rothenberg's on-camera acting class in Toronto with fellow actors Scott Speedman, Rachel McAdams, and David Sutcliffe.

Has an older brother, Sean David Mitchell, who is a teacher and a part time chef.

Daughter, Lilah Ruby Mitchell, was born July, 7th, 2007.

Loves to ride horses.

Son, Kallum Porter Mitchell, born December 9, 2012.

Attended Elementary School and High School with actress Sarah Polley.

Attended Kilcoo Camp in Minden, Ontario - 4 years as a camper and 8 years as a counsellor. Summer Camp is where he equates his passion to perform all started.
