  • Writer
IMDbProStarmeterSee rank
Early on, Sandy Fries had an interest in words. Born in New York City, his talents landed him at Clark University where he received his B.A. in journalism and graduated Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Fries then went on to get his M.S. degree in journalism from Columbia University. While at Columbia University, Sandy was awarded with an NBC Fellowship. After his university work, he relocated to California. Starting out working for Young and Rubicam Advertising, Sandy went on to write for one of television's most highly-regarded science fiction shows, Star Trek: La nouvelle génération (1987). Mr. Fries has been nominated for an Emmy award and has served as the chairman of the Writer's Guild of America Future of Television Seminar. He has also had feature film and television development deals with Warner Brothers and Dick Clark Productions over the course of his career. Outside of screenwriting, he's been a freelance writer for the Los Angeles Times and story editor on the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" CD-ROM games. Currently, Sandy Fries is working on a book and teaching journalism and film.
