Mainei Kinimaka is an actress, director, producer and writer born and raised in Anahola, Kaua'i. Her creative roots lie in her 'ohana's lineage of musicians, artists, kumu hula, and most importantly, water men and women.
Mainei's creative inspiration was sparked at a young age by the natural beauty of Kaua'i, it's native peoples, and it's waves, which formed her first loves - surfing and photography.
In 2018, seeking to learn more about the art of visual storytelling, Mainei was humbly taken under the wing of the creative army that is Pride of Gypsies, a production entity comprising of fearless leaders; Jason Momoa, Thomas Pa'a Sibbet, and Brian Mendoza. Since then, Mainei has gratefully been a part of film and television projects from micro to macro budget, both in front of and behind the camera.
These widely varying opportunities of learning have been the foundation to develop and hone her creative skill set as a filmmaker. With much more to learn and much more to give back, her goal is to create Hawaiian stories for the people of Hawai'i, that reflect and honor the authenticity, history, and future of Moananuiakea (Pasifika / Oceania).
