Amazon has cancelled Z: The Beginning Of Everything, starring Christina Ricci, after the series had previously been greenlit for a season 2.
The initial renewal was a bit of surprise, given the lack of buzz around the first season of the Zelda Fitzgerald series, but it's even more of a surprise when considering that the Z writers' room had already started meeting for season 2 and, according to The Hollywood Reporter, a reported $7 million had already been spent on a second season.
As the THR article notes, the renewal came shortly after the publishing of a Vox article on the apparent "sexist loophole" in Amazon Studios straight-to-series practices, while the subsequent cancellation comes in the wake of Amazon's rumoured decision to scale back its spending on original series heading into...

Yesterday, AMC took to the popular mobile app Snapchat to release the first five minutes of the highly anticipated Preacher pilot episode in advance of the Sunday, May 22 launch. The initial preview on Snapchat marked the first time an extended clip of a network TV show was available on the app. In case you missed the preview yesterday, we have the full five-minute clip for you to watch below, which introduces us to Texas preacher Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), along with a church service in Africa that goes terribly wrong.
The preview opens in outer space, as we see an unknown entity rocketing through the cosmos, before landing in Africa. There we see a charismatic reverend preaching to his congregation, when suddenly his sermon is interrupted by a powerful force, bringing this service to an unexpected end. From there, we get a brief flashback at Jesse Custer's past, as we see another preacher,...

This scene, which was posted to the Preacher Twitter page earlier today, gives us our first full look at Ruth Negga's Tulip, who is seen trying to fend off an attacker while driving a car. This intense clip only hints at how awesome the action is in the upcoming pilot!

AMC has released a promo still for their upcoming small-screen take on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s ultra-violent (and seriously messed up in various other ways) comic series, Preacher, and it gives us a new look at Jesse Custer’s Irish vampire pal, Cassidy, which should make fans of the source material very happy indeed.
Aside from a few brief glimpses in the trailers, this is the first time we’ve seen Cassidy wearing his trademark shades, and flashing the equal-parts terrifying and hilarious grin he’s known for.
In addition, the network has announced that we’ll be getting all-new look at the show during the season 2 premiere of Fear The Walking Dead. Whether that’s a full trailer, TV promo or an actual clip remains to be seen, but we’re certainly excited.
Preacher also stars Dominic Cooper as Jesse, Ian Colleti as Eugene “Arseface” Root, W. Earl Brown...

On Sunday night, Season 6 of AMC's hit series The Walking Dead will come to a close, which will be followed by the spinoff Fear the Walking Dead kicking off its second season on April 10. After the first half of that season wraps, fans will be treated to another genre series with the May 22 debut of Preacher. To get fans ready for the premiere, the network has debuted a new teaser, which will air during The Walking Dead finale, featuring a new look at Arseface, played by Ian Colletti.
This trailer comes just a few days after the first photo of Arseface surfaced. In the comics, Arseface grew up in an abusive household, and he even tried to kill himself, in an attempt to emulate his idol, Kurt Cobain, and to escape from his father, the town's sheriff. It isn't known if this suicide attempt will be featured on the show,...

Following a recent promo image of Ian Colleti as Eugene “Arseface” Root, AMC has released a short, but fairly revealing new teaser trailer for their upcoming adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s controversial ’90s comic series, Preacher. Young Arseface is glimpsed very briefly, but there’s plenty of other great and gruesome stuff in here to discuss.
For example, we see Cassidy the vampire (Joe Gilgun) covered in blood that we can only assume he took from the poor soul behind him in the shot. There’s also a glimpse of Ruth Negga as Tulip being viciously attacked in her car, and various shots of Dominic Cooper as the titular preacher, Jesse Custer, looking somewhat bemused. And who could blame him? As the voiceover reveals, “something got loose,” and evidently made its way to Custer’s quiet little Texas parish.
Preacher also stars W. Earl Brown as Arseface’s father,...

Back in September, AMC handed out a 10-episode series order for the comic book adaptation Preacher, with executive producer Seth Rogen teasing that the series will debut in May 2016. While he recanted that statement about the premiere date shortly thereafter, the series is set to arrive sometime this year, and today we have word from The Hollywood Reporter that the series has added Jackie Earle Haley to play a major character from the original comic books, Odin Quincannon. The actor has been set for a six-episode arc in the series.
In the original comic book created by Garth Ennis and Steven Dillon, Odin Quincannon is a member of the local Ku Klux Klan branch, who often clashes with lead character Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper). Jesse eventually discovers that Odin has been having sex with a mannequin made out of meat. In the series, he's described as a small, decrepit man...

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s small-screen take on Garth Ennis’ controversial comic series, Preacher, will debut at this year’s South by Southwest film festival along with several other projects that have been added to the lineup. Along with this announcement, AMC has released a new image from the show, featuring Dominic Cooper as the Reverend Jesse Custer relaxing in church with a cigarette. If the show is anything like the comic, he’ll be doing a lot of that.
On that note, Rogen spoke at the Television Critics Association’s press tour in Pasadena, California, on Friday after a screening of the pilot episode, and admitted that the series will deviate quite a bit from the source material.

We’ll be getting the very first trailer for Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s small-screen adaptation of Garth Ennis’ controversial comic series, Preacher, this Sunday night during an extended episode of The Walking Dead, and in anticipation of that, AMC has released a very brief teaser.
It all goes by in a matter of seconds, but if you slow things down you’ll see a few very interesting snippets of footage. Readers of the DC Vertigo comic will likely recognize what appears to be Jesse Custer falling from a plane, Irish Vampire Cassidy getting a little sun before indulging in a spot of murder, Custer’s congregation being engulfed in flames, and then the Texas preacher beating the crap out of some local yokels.

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s small-screen adaptation of Garth Ennis’ Preacher is set to air sometime next year, though no exact date has been announced. Thus far, we’ve had some set snaps and a promo poster (see above) to feast our eyes on, but not so much as an official character image – and yet the first trailer will be with us next week.
AMC has announced that we’ll see the very first footage from the show on November 1st during a special 90-minute long episode of The Walking Dead, which is expected to include a Morgan flashback. The network’s press release also includes a Preacher synopsis, and from the sounds of it, the basic premise of this take, at least, will be faithful to Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s source material.

Comedian and writer/director Seth Rogen, along with his writing partners Evan Goldberg and Sam Catlin, are behind AMC's upcoming TV series adaptation of the acclaimed Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon comic series "Preacher".
Filming on the series has been happening for some time now, and in a new interview with CraveOnline Rogen spoke about the necessity to adapt and chance some elements from the source material and if people will be annoyed by the changes:
"We are changing the specifics of how the narrative is unfolding. A lot of the building blocks we are not changing, a lot of characters we're keeping, but we want to make a show that if you're a fan of the comic, you don't know what to expect. And we have no interest honestly in just doing a literal page-to-page adaptation.
It just seems like the most boring creative endeavor one could go on!

Seth Rogen, along with co-writers Evan Goldberg and Sam Catlin, is hard at work getting ready to unveil his small-screen take on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s brilliant, but controversial comic series to the world, as Preacher will premiere on AMC next year.
We’ve obviously had the casting announcements and the occasional behind-the-scenes image etc., but we haven’t really heard that much about the specifics of the plot and the alterations being made to the source material… until now.
While speaking to Crave Online, Rogen went into some detail regarding the adaptation process, and admits that although they’re staying as true as possible to the spirit of the comic, changes are inevitable, and some of the more graphic elements will be left out entirely.

Seth Rogen has revealed that his take on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s controversial DC Vertigo comic series, Preacher, has been given a series order at AMC, and he’s also posted the key art seen below to his Twitter page. Apparently, it’s a 10-episode order and the show is expected to launch mid-2016.
Rogen is developing Preacher for the small screen with Evan Goldberg, who directed the pilot, and Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad), who wrote the script and will serve as showrunner. The story follows a small-town Texan preacher named Jesse Custer who finds himself possessed by the spawn of a demon and an angel, which gives him incredible powers and an insight into God’s mindset. He teams up with his ex-girlfriend Tulip and a hard-drinking Irish Vampire named Cassidy to track down his maker and hold him accountable for abandoning his post in Heaven.

Seth Rogen announced on his Twitter page today that AMC has issued a series order for his comic book adaptation Preacher. The executive producer, who also directed the pilot with Evan Goldberg, originally revealed that the show will debut in May 2016 on AMC, later clarifying that the show "may not air in May... But sometime in 2016." Those tweets were eventually deleted, but he also released the first teaser poster for Preacher.
While the series order has yet to be confirmed by AMC, Deadline reports that the show was given a 10-episode order. Both Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg developed the story with Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad), who went on to write the pilot script and will serve as the showrunner. The series is based on the comic book series by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon.

Preacher fans have waited a very long time for the comic to be adapted for the screen, and next May we'll finally see Jesse, Cassidy, Tulip and the rest of the gang brought to life when the first episode of AMC's TV series airs. Writer Seth Rogen officially announced the date via Twitter, and unveiled the first official artwork for the show while he was at it. None of the characters are featured unfortunately, but it should only be a matter of time before more images are released. Preacher is coming to AMC!!! May 2016! @evandgoldberg @SamCatlin123! We’ve had several behind-the-scenes glimpses into the production of AMC’s small screen take on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s controversial comic series, Preacher, but this is our first proper look at some of the principal cast members, namely Joseph Gilgun and Ian Colleti, in wardrobe as their characters.
Gilgun (This Is England, Misfits, Pride) will play hard drinking Irish Vampire, Cassidy, and he does bear quite a resemblance to his comic book counterpart – minus his trademark sunglasses, that is. Colleti (Baby Mama, Rake), on the other hand, is Arseface: a troubled teen who attempts to commit suicide with a shotgun blast to the face. Somehow, he survives, but winds up with a mush that looks like… well, you caught his name, right?

A visitor to the set of AMC's Preacher adaptation has posted a few cheeky snaps to his Facebook page. As you can see we get nice, clear looks at both Joseph Gilgun as Proinsias Cassidy sans his trademark sunglasses, and Ian Colleti as Arseface sans... the horrific, drooling mess for a mush he has in the comics. To be fair, Seth Rogen and co. were probably always going to tone that down a bit for this TV series. Aside from these a few other behind-the-scenes images we've yet to see anything official from Preacher, but it shouldn't be long now. From comic-book adaptations to sci-fi, fantasy and horror. Here are the new geek-skewed shows coming to Us TV in 2016...
The world of TV has never been so crowded and, at the same time, geeks have never had it so good. As saturated as the big screen is with superhero films and sprawling shared universes, that mentality has well and truly bled onto the small screen too.
So there’s a lot of comic-book adaptations coming up in 2016 from Marvel, DC and others, but genre TV is represented across the board with science-fiction, fantasy and horror represented at pretty much every network and cable channel in the Us.
Here's some of the geek TV that will be making its way to us from the Us next year.

Aside from that first pic of Jesse chatting with Arseface, Seth Rogen hasn't really posted anything too revealing from the set of AMC's Preacher, but there are still a few interesting images popping up on the actor's Twitter feed from time to time. Below you can see the devastation caused from a downed helicopter, Jesse Custer's favourite brand of cigarettes (though his "Fuck Communism" lighter is absent), and a teasing shot of the good Reverend himself. Hopefully as filming continues we'll begin to get some better snaps, and maybe a first look at Joe Gilgun as Cassidy. So what have we here then? Until Rogen gives us something else to go us, your guess is as good as mine... but it certainly appears to be a couple of slightly sinister looking nuns outside a church. Is this where the Reverend Jesse Custer preaches to his doomed congregation before his fateful meeting with Genesis? Only time will tell. We also have an unofficial set pic, giving us our first proper look at Dominic Cooper as Custer. #Preacher pic.twitter.com/OlKTKVlfhj — Seth Rogen (@Sethrogen) May 22, 2015 Preacher stars Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer, Ruth Negga as Tulip O'Hare, Joe Gilgun as Cassidy, Ian Colletti as Arseface, Lucy Griffiths as Emily Woodrow, Elizabeth Perkins as Vyla Quinncannon and Jamie Anne Allman and Derek Wilson as Betsy and Donny Schenck. We still don't know who'll play the Saint Of Killers, but he's definitely in the show....right?...

Now that production is under way on Preacher, AMC's upcoming TV series based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's comic, executive producer Seth Rogen has shared a new photo from the set, featuring Dominic Cooper as the Preacher Jesse Custer and Ian Colletti as Arseface. Unfortunately, the photo doesn't give us too good a look at each character, but it appears that Custer is speaking with young Arseface in his room, which is adorned with posters for Jack White and other bands. Sports fans will also notice the University of Texas Longhorns pillow on his bed.

Seth Rogen took to his Twitter page yesterday to reveal that production is finally under way on the long-awaited Preacher TV series. The comedic actor is serving as executive producer on the series, and directing the pilot with his filmmaking partner Evan Goldberg. It isn't exactly known where filming is taking place at this time.

Filing on the pilot of AMC's Preacher adaptation is apparently underway according to Seth Rogen's Twitter. Rogen developed the adaptation with Evan Goldberg and Breaking Bad's Sam Catlin. Also appearing on the show are Ian Colletti as Arseface, Lucy Griffiths as Emily Woodrow, Elizabeth Perkins as Vyla Quinncannon and Jamie Anne Allman and Derek Wilson as Betsy and Donny Schenck. The new AMC series will mark the first successful adaptation of Preacher in a long line of failures. Garth Ennis wrote a script for a film adaptation back in 1998 but financial concerns and religious pressure put a halt on development. Miramax then purchased film rights for Preacher but never developed a working script and ultimately let the rights lapse. Next up, was HBO, who secured rights and brought in...

AMC's upcoming comic book TV series Preacher has added two more cast members, Jamie Anne Allman and Derek Wilson, as brand new characters who didn't appear in the original comic books. Jamie Anne Allman is playing Betsy Schenck, a timid wife who appears to be in an abusive relationship with her husband, Donny (Derek Wilson). Although, when Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) checks in on her, she tells a different story.
Derek Wilson's Donny Schenck is a Civil War reenactor and abusive husband who gets into several altercations with Custer, but still makes it to church every Sunday. Both actors will have recurring roles in the AMC series, but it isn't known how many episodes they have signed on for. Deadline report that Jamie Anne Allman (The Killing) and Derek Wilson (Rectify) have joined the cast of AMC's small screen take on Preacher as Betsy and Donny Schenck -- two original creations just for the show. Betsy is described as “a meek wife who appears to suffer beatings by the hand of her husband, Donny,” while Donny is a “Civil War re-enactor and abusive thug who gets into altercations with Jesse Custer but nevertheless shows up to church on Sundays.” We've heard that this adaptation is going to differ significantly from the comic in that Jesse Custer will be spending a lot more time as a Preacher in Anville before setting out on his mission, and this would seem to confirm it as Wilson and Allman are down as series regulars -- and it's highly unlikely they'll be hitting the road with Jesse and his motley crew! They join Dominic Cooper...
