In 2013, at the 6th Korea Drama Awards, she was awarded the Grand Prize for her role in the Korean melodrama "Geu Gyeowool, Barami Boonda (2013). In that following year she was also rewarded the Best Actress for the titular drama at the 49th Baeksang Art Awards.

In 2011, at the 12th Women in Film Korea Awards, she was awarded the Best Actress award for her role in A reason to live.

She was born in Daegu, South Korea but her family moved up to Seoul when she was a small child.
