Here Are All the Songs in ‘Love Hurts’
Image
What is Valentine’s Day without a romantic mixtape? Well, the soundtrack of “Love Hurts” may not exactly be romantic, but it still brings good vibes to the action film.

Now in theaters, “Love Hurts centers on realtor Marvin Gable, who loves his job and very ordinary life. But when he suddenly gets an unexpected valentine from his ex-girlfriend who’s hellbent on revenge, he gets ripped back into his old life — one of violence and crime.

Here are the songs that are:

“Feeling Alive” by Earl St. Clair “You Sexy Thing” by Hot Chocolate “Bum Bum” by L.O.U.D. & Kali J “In My Arms” by Mt Jones “Down to...

Durand Jones & the Indications Embrace Groove on ‘The Way That I Do’
Image
Durand Jones & the Indications’ new single “The Way That I Do” reaches back several decades to capture the feeling of a precise period in popular music history, the years in the late Seventies and early Eighties when the popular R&b vocal ensembles turned toward the locomotion of disco and boogie in search of new hits.

This is the time that yielded under-appreciated gems like the Chi-Lites “Changing for You” and the Manhattans’ “Let Your Love Come Down.” The harmonies in these records are as immaculate as the grooves are sturdy; that combination,...

Harmonies Are Out of Style. This Soul Group Is Trying to Change That
When Durand Jones & the Indications released their self-titled debut album in 2016, it didn’t take long for them to notice that fans were gravitating to a particular track: “Is It Any Wonder,” a lolling, pretty soul ballad, with sharp rim-shots puncturing long lines of prepubescent falsetto from drummer Aaron Frazer. “When the album came out, within a few months there were CD bootlegs with our song on them on eBay,” remembers guitarist Blake Rhein.
