Relativity Media has brought on James McTeigue to direct their gangster drama Ness/Capone. We first reported on this project back in April when Relativity acquired the project.
Grant Pierce Myers wrote the screenplay, which landed on the 2010 Black List, and puts a fresh twist on the war between law enforcer Elliot Ness and Chicago gangster Al Capone in the 1920s. This story portrays Ness as an attention-seeking womanizer who took great joy in taking down the mobster. The story was popularized in the 1987 classic The Untouchables, although this version of Elliot Ness will be vastly different than Kevin Costner's clean-cut take.
Hollywood Gang's Gianni Nunnari is producing Ness/Capone alongside Relativity's Ryan Kavanaugh, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, Jason Felts, and Rene M. Rigal.
It isn't known when production will start on Ness/Capone yet.
Ness/Capone comes to theaters in 2014. The film is directed by James McTeigue.

Relativity Media has purchased Ecstasia, a new futuristic feature which will be written and directed by Wayne Kramer.
The story is set in an alternate universe where love doesn't exist, although people can pay for a costly procedure known as, "commitment." Ecstasia is described as, "an emotional Viagra," and without it, couples will feel no romantic connection. The story will center on a couple who can no longer afford the "commitment" procedure, and take extreme measures to prolong their relationship.
Jason Felts, Rene M. Rigal, Ryan Kavanaugh, Tucker Tooley, Matthew Rhodes, and Renee Tab will produce Ecstasia.
We reported back in April that Wayne Kramer left the the Sylvester Stallone project Headshot. It is believed that Ecstasia will be his next movie.

Relativity Media has acquired the Grant Pierce Myers screenplay Ness/Capone, which landed on the 2010 Black List of Hollywood's best unproduced screenplays.
While the movie will still center on the Prohibition-Era due between lawman Elliot Ness and gangster Al Capone, Ness/Capone will offer a much different look at Elliot Ness, compared to how he was portrayed by Kevin Costner in The Untouchables. When Grant Pierce Myers looked back at Elliot Ness' history, he discovered Ness was actually a publicity hound who personally took great pride whenever he won a victory over Al Capone. It is said that Elliot Ness would often parade confiscated booze trucks past Al Capone's hotel, while personally calling the gangster to have him look outside. Elliot Ness is also said to be a womanizer in this new version.

Serviceable holiday romp thrives on cast
Is it really a cynical gesture to cast Hispanics in the reunion holiday-comedy staple and call it new? It doesn’t have to be, and it isn’t really in Nothing Like the Holidays, the cheerfully broad new comedy about a Puerto Rican family whose grown children return to Chicago for Christmas. The conventions of these films have become so streamlined that each new title is clearly an attempt to cash in on the goodwill of the season, and this risk-free, harmless movie’s rewrite of the usual formula is no more dishonorable than any of the annual offenders.

Overture puts 'Park' on the map
Overture Films has signed on to produce and distribute "Humboldt Park", a family dramedy starring John Leguizamo and Freddy Rodriguez.
State Street Pictures ("Barbershop") and 2DS Prods. are behind the film, which focuses on a family reunion over the holidays in the Chicago neighborhood of Humboldt Park.

Overture, a unit of Liberty Media-owned Starz, has been beefing up its slate as it prepares to release its first batch of movies next year.
