You'll Never Use A Rest Stop Again After Watching The Horror Short, Seek
Aaron Morgan
I promise you, you will not be making any pit stops on your future road trips after watching this eerie 5-minute horror short, Seek. The creepfest — which was directed by Aaron Morgan from a script written with /Film's very own Eric Vespe! — is heavy on tension and tone, as well as effects and even animatronics. With such a short run time, the result is impressive and perfect for the lead-up to Halloween.

According to Fangoria, the synopsis for the film reads:

Estranged sisters Heidi and Jordan have been driving all night when they come across a dilapidated roadside park and...

Watch: Meet The Lonely Child in Terrifying 'Seek' Horror Short Film
Aaron Morgan
"You hide, I seek." This is creepyy!! A new horror short film made by filmmakers Aaron Morgan and Eric Vespe (formerly known as "Quint" from his AICN days) is now online. Seek was supposed to premiere last year at the 2020 SXSW Film Festival, eventually playing at this year's Fantastic Fest. After driving all night, two sisters come across a dilapidated roadside park. It reveals itself to be more than meets the eye when one sister stumbles upon a mischievous resident inhabiting the bathroom that wants to play a sinister game... Who's hiding out in there? The film stars Allisyn Snyder, Clare Grant, and Steve Agee; with practical effects by two-time Academy Award-nominee Arjen Tuiten, based on concept designs by Weta Workshop. And there's a poster by artist Jc Richard as well. Nothing like a good horror short to make your heart rate go up. This makes me never want to...

‘Seek’ Trailer Teases the New Rian Johnson-Approved SXSW Horror Short
Rian Johnson
Horror shorts are always an exciting space to keep an eye on up-an-coming genre filmmakers, and today brings a trailer for Seek, one of the new shorts heading to SXSW -- and it has some pretty dang high-profile seals of approval. “Well crafted top to bottom. Creepy, effective, and beautiful,” reads a quote from Rian Johnson in the trailers opening moments, with Annabelle Comes Home filmmaker Gary Dauberman adding "Seek is unnerving, imaginative and best of all scary." The short comes from director/co-writer Aaron Morgan and co-writer/producer Eric Vespe ( a friend of the site …...

Twistedly Cool Halloween Short Film - No Way Out
Check out this terrifyingly awesome supernatural horror short film called "No Way Out" written by AICN's Eric Vespe a.k.a. Quint and directed by Kristoffer Aaron Morgan.

The movie stars A.J. Bowen (The Signal, The House of the Devil, You’re Next) who plays a man that is desperately trying to escape an isolated place full of creatures who torment him from the dark.

The movie played at Fantastic Fest last year, but now you can watch it online! "Now Way Out" was shot for less than $3000 in two days, and here's what Morgan had to say about it,

I wanted this to be a simple, visual horror poem about being paralyzed by your own thoughts. Working with Aj Bowen was pure movie making bliss. He blends professionalism and good natured humor perfectly while on set, making everything more relaxed.

I thought this was a great horror short,...

Must Watch: Amazing Fantastic Fest Horror Short Film 'No Way Out'
Obviously our focus on film is geared more towards feature length cinema, but every now and then a spectacular short film comes along that just deserves and even begs to be seen. Some of those even go on to get feature film deals like the recent short True Skin which just got picked up by Warner Bros. That brings us to No Way Out, a twisted, spooky horror short that played at Fantastic Fest last year. The film stars A.J. Bowen (The House of the Devil, You’re Next) as a man stuck and scared out of his mind in a basement where something unnatural seems to be with him. It's the scariest new film you'll watch this Halloween. Here's Kristoffer Aaron Morgan's Fantastic Fest horror short No Way Out via Bloody Disgusting: "Isolated in a place where twisted creatures torment him from the dark, a man desperately tries to find an escape.

No Way Out (2011)
A Blogger, A Director And An Actor Harness Passion To Create ‘No Way Out’
No Way Out (2011)
No one grows up with hopes and dreams to be a short filmmaker. People who want to make films aspire to make features and it takes time to realize the short subject is one of the best steps to achieving that goal. However, in the case of director Kristoffer Aaron Morgan, writer Eric Vespe and their short film No Way Out, they did things backwards. Before No Way Out was even conceived, Vespe, best known as Quint from Ain't It Cool News, and Morgan had already sold Dimension the rights [1] to The Home, their feature length, haunted nursing home movie. But when pre-production on that film was put on hiatus, the pair decided a short might be a good way to practice their craft and simultaneously hang with some of their Austin, Texas film friends. Two thousand dollars later, they have No Way Out, a 10-minute short starring A.J.

The short filmmaker's guide to short filmmaking
Eric Vespe on the set of Seek
They may not get a lot of press, but short films and short filmmakers are the lifeblood of film festivals. They are the place to discover great new filmmakers. Before Steven Spielberg blew up with "Jaws," he was a 22-year-old kid with a short called "Amblin." Before Martin Scorsese reinvented the gangster genre with "Mean Streets," he was a film student with a six minute movie called "The Big Shave." Before they were famous filmmakers, they were short filmmakers.

Short films are a great way to get your foot in the door of Hollywood, but if you've never made a short before, it may be tough to know how to even open that door in the first place. With that in mind, we recruited the team behind the Fantastic Fest short "No Way Out" -- actor A.J. Bowen (a.k.a. one of the stars of the multiple Fantastic...

Wow. We had quite a day trying to get this event set up, and due to some miscommunication, things got… well.. miscommunicated. Let’s start from the beginning! We get a lot of opportunities to bring you guys advanced promotional screenings for soon-to-be-released films. These opportunities usually come in the form of a studio request and are usually promoted via Facebook. Facebook isn’t necessarily the strongest system for managing the sheer volume of excited people RSVPing to these events, however, and this became very clear today. We are already moving forward on a new system that will allow us to announce RSVPs to our loyal Facebook followers but use...

Dimension Films Welcome You to The Home
Here’s news of an interesting project which has been picked up by producer Bob Weinstein’s genre wing Dimension Films, and has received a helping hand from a master of the trade.

The film is entitled The Home and it tells the story of a firefighter injuring in the line of duty and convalescing in a rest home, who soon realises that something evil is lurking within the place, and is responsible for attacks on the elderly residents. Sounds like a sinister cross between Cocoon and The Amityville Horror!

The film has an impressive pedigree of talent behind it. The cast is made of a number of industry character actor veterans including Brian Cox, Cloris Leachman, Louise Fletcher, Louis Gossett Jr. and Ed Asner, and the script has been co-written by director Kristoffer Aaron Morgan and none other than Ain’t It Cool’s Quint, aka Eric Vespe (a...

Slackery News Tidbits, January 6
In New Orleans, January 6 is the first day you can buy a king cake before Mardi Gras ... it's the Feast of Epiphany, or Three Kings' Day. So all I can think about today is cake. Fortunately, I'm distracting myself with a lot of local film news, some of which is really good.

My favorite news this week: Local filmmaker Kristoffer Aaron Morgan's upcoming film production The Home has been picked up by Dimension Films (the Weinsteins' horror-movie company). Morgan and Eric Vespe wrote the script for this horror movie. Morgan is someone I always see at Alamo Drafthouse movies and film fests (I took the photo of him at right at Fantastic Fest 2009), and lots of you probably know Vespe under his pen name of Quint at Ain't It Cool News. The Home will be shooting in Austin soon, and will star Cloris Leachman, Louise Fletcher, Brian Cox and Ed Asner.

Dimension Films Will Release Geriatric Horror Flick ‘The Home’
Like most films, The Home has had a rocky road to getting made, but it looks like the sailing through Cthulu-infested waters will be smoother now that Dimension Films has agreed to release the film. As reported before, the film puts Ed Asner, Cloris Leachman, Brian Cox, Fionnula Flanagan, Louise Fletcher and Louis Gossett, Jr (and whatever young leads are announced) into an old folks home and tortures them with Knb-designed practical monsters until their screams and uneaten no-sugar-added apple sauce cups are used for the building’s fuel. Calls to filmmaker Kristoffer Aaron Morgan went unanswered, which I’ll assume means, “we want to have the film done by Fantastic Fest.” Morgan most recently had his short, yet hilariously nutritious, take on zombies hit said fest as one of the infamous bumpers. You can watch it after the jump. In consideration of full disclosure, Fsr publisher Neil Miller is the bearded zombie in the blue button...

Dimension Films Picks Up Kristoffer Aaron Morgan’s ‘The Home’
Everbrook
[1] I have just heard that Bob Weinstein and Dimension Films have acquired Kristoffer Aaron Morgan's H.P. Lovecraftian horror film The Home. I'm happy to hear that Dimension Films wants to release an original movie again. The Home seems like a film they would have invested in back in the mid-1990's. It seems like now-a-days, they're concentrating mostly on sequels, remakes and un-funny parody movies. No word on if Dimension will be releasing the film theatrically or just home video. I'm sure, at very least, The Home will have a film festival run. Penned by Morgan alongside Eric Vespe (better known to film geeks at Quint from Ain't It Cool News), the story has been described as a "character driven, atmospheric, twisted creature flick". The Home tells the story of a firefighter who "is nearly killed during a failed rescue that leaves him physically and emotionally scarred. To recuperate,...

Movie News Quick Hits: A 'Step Brothers' Rap Album; 'The Home' Finds Distribution
Filed under: Movie News, Cinematical

Dimension Films has acquired distribution rights to 'The Home,' an old folks' home-set horror movie starring Ed Asner, Louis Gossett Jr., Louise Fletcher and Cloris Leachman. Pre-production began this week on the Kristoffer Aaron Morgan-directed film, which will go in front of cameras next month in Austin, TX. Pictured above is a piece of Weta-designed concept art for the film.

After directorship passing back and forth between the two, it looks like the big screen adaptation of sci-fi novel 'Cloud Atlas' will be directed by Tom Tykwer and the Wachowskis. That's according to Natalie Portman, at least, who will have some kind of role in the film since she's the one who first introduced all of the parties to David Mitchell's novel.

Sam Rockwell has committed to an undisclosed role in 'Cogan's Trade' alongside Brad Pitt, which...

Dimension Films Takes a Trip to The Home
Kristoffer Aaron Morgan and Eric Vespe have a, well, home for their upcoming feature-length horror film The Home . Morgan will direct from a script he penned with Vespe ("Quint" from Ain't It Cool News). Brian Cox, Cloris Leachman, Louise Fletcher, Louis Gossett Jr., Ed Asner and Fionnula Flanagan are locked in to star. Weta did some early conceptual art, however, Knb Effects is stepping in to handle the practical monsters. The story unfolds when a firefighter is nearly killed during a failed rescue that leaves him physically and emotionally scarred. To recuperate, he is taken to a secluded nursing home where the elderly residents appear to be suffering from delusions. But after witnessing a violent attack, he soon realizes that the screams behind the walls are...

Asner And Gossett Check In To The Home
When Don Coscarelli populated Bubba Ho Tep almost entirely with senior citizens my initial response was what a great idea that was for a horror film. Ho Tep plays it mostly for laughs, of course, but think about it. Old folks' homes are places that most - if we're honest - find a little bit uncomfortable, a little bit alien. They are filled with people who have led rich lives but who are now physically frail and often mentally suspect as their faculties break down. And, mostly, they force us to confront our own mortality. Perfect fodder for horror then, though you arguably may not want the flashes of gratuitous nudity that frequently come with the genre.

Enter The Home. To be directed by Kristoffer Aaron Morgan from a script co-written by Morgan and Eric Vespe - that'd be Quint at Aint It Cool - the film has been in...

Movie News Quick Hits: 'The Hobbit' Union Dispute Ends, 'Hellraiser' Remake Moves Forward
Louise Fletcher

- Louise Fletcher, Louis Gosset Jr., Ed Asner and Fionnula Flanagan have all been cast in 'The Home,' a horror movie written and directed by Kristoffer Aaron Morgan and Eric Vespe about the denizens of a not-too-ordinary nursing home. Above is a piece of concept art designed by Weta for the film.

- Shock Till You Drop are reporting that the 'Hellraiser' remake will be written by Todd Farmer and directed by Patrick Lussier, the pair responsible for both 'My Bloody Valentine 3-D' and the upcoming 'Drive Angry 3D.' Shock's report also says that the pair's attachment absolutely means that Dimension will not be going the PG-13 route.

- The union boycott threatening production of 'The Hobbit' in New Zealand has been called off, but according to producer/director Peter Jackson, the damage has already been done and the studio is still...

Louis Gossett Jr., Ed Asner, Fionnula Flanagan, Brian Cox, and Cloris Leachman Visit The Home
Kristoffer Aaron Morgan and Eric Vespe (aka Kraken and Quint of AICN) have begun to assemble a cast for their horror film The Home: namely Louis Gossett Jr. (Iron Eagle), Ed Asner (Up) and Fionnula Flanagan (the Lucy to Desmond Hume’s Charlie Brown on Lost). Bloody Disgusting reports that Brian Cox (chewing scenery in the recent Red) and the great Cloris Leachman (Raising Hope) are also in talks to star in the horror thriller.

The Home concerns a young man who, after suffering a horrible accident, goes to recuperate at a nursing home… that just so happens to be infested with carnivorous monsters. Tough break. Having unfortunately visited a nursing home not too long ago, I can tell you that they are heartbreakingly sad and terrifying all at once. I wasn’t sure whether to cry for the elder woman, who stared transfixed at a blank unplugged television...

Early Cast Coming Together for Indie Horror Film 'The Home'
Last year we wrote about the announcement of a new indie horror project in the works called The Home, written by AICN's Eric Vespe, to be directed by Kristoffer Aaron Morgan. They've been working on putting together the production for a while and we've been waiting to hear news about it. Well, Bloody-Disgusting received a big casting scoop today for this film, which looks like it might have an impressive cast lined-up. Although not officially signed yet, they're in discussions with Brian Cox (Zodiac, Trick 'r Treat, Red, The Escapist) and Cloris Leachman (Young Frankenstein, You Again) to star, with a few others set as well. In addition to those two, Louise Fletcher, Louis Gossett Jr., Edward Asner and Fionnula Flanagan have also all joined cast. As a reminder, here's a the plot: The Home unfolds after a young man is nearly killed during a horrible accident that leaves him...

Four Oldies Cast In Horror Flick The Home
Most movies these days chronicle the generic and .drama. filled lives of good-looking, in-shape kids in their late teens or early-20s, finding ways to get unnecessarily sweaty and breathy when they talk. Not The Home, though. From rookie director Kristoffer Aaron Morgan and writer AICN alumni Eric Vespe (better known as Quint over there), The Home takes a haunted geriatric care facility and fills it with creepy crawlies. And I.m not just talking about the old folks. Film School Rejects have it that four big time seniors have been added to the cast, and if it.s true, we might have something great on our hands. Ed Asner (Carl in Up), Louis Gossett Jr (Oscar winner for An Officer and a Gentlemen), Louise Fletcher (Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over The Cuckoo.s Nest), and finally Fionnula Flanagan (most recently found creeping up the last couple seasons of...

A Slew of Names Move in to 'The Home'
Everbrook
Director Kristoffer Aaron Morgan's The Home is really filling out.  Reports are surfacing about a slew of actors joining the cast.  A young man moves into a nursing home to recuperate from a massive accident, and starts to realize that the delusions suffered by his elderly roommates may not be dementia.  Just who can you expect to see in The Home? Louise Fletcher (Flowers in the Attic), Louis Gossett Jr.(Jaws 3D), Edward Asner, and Fionnula Flanagan have all be signed to the film.  Word has it that Cloris Leachman and Brian Cox are also in talks to join the cast. An Oscar-Worthy Aarp Cast Moves Into Horror Film ‘The Home’
We’ve reported on The Home before because of the shiver-inducing concept art created by Weta, and it looks like the show might finally be on the road to getting off the road at a secure location where they can start filming frightening things attacking senior citizens. The list of senior citizens now includes Oscar winner (and film nerd favorite) Louise Fletcher, Oscar winner Louis Gossett Jr, Ed Asner, and Fionnula Flanagan (a veteran of stage, screen, and the creepiest character on Lost). Plus, the production is in talks to secure both Brian Cox and Cloris Leachman. In the effort of full disclosure, I’ve lost poker money to both director Kristoffer Aaron Morgan and writer Eric Vespe, but that seething bitterness I feel toward that loss is overcome by a truly strong list of actors that I think anyone would raise an eyebrow at. It’s Nurse Ratched! And Mary Tyler Moore’s boss! And...

Bodies Start Filling The Home
It's been a few months since last we spoke about Kristopher Aaron Morgan's The Home, but wow, have the folks behind it used that time wisely! Some casting news has hit online this morning, and dare we say the line-up is pretty impressive.

According to Bloody Disgusting "Louise Fletcher (Flowers in the Attic, Exorcist II, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest), Louis Gossett Jr. (Enemy Mine, The Invaders, Jaws 3D), Edward Asner (Up, "The Mod Squad," "The Invaders," "Mission: Impossible"), and Nicole Flannigan are all signed on to star in Kristoffer Aaron Morgan's H.P. Lovecraftian The Home, which was penned by both Morgan and AICN writer Eric Vespe. It's also worth noting that Brian Cox (Red, Rise of the Apes, Trick 'r Treat) and Cloris Leachman (Young Frankenstein, Lake Placid 2, Scary Movie 2) are both in discussions."

Exclusive art, comments: Morgan and Inside filmmakers’ Home
Director Kristoffer Aaron Morgan got in touch with an update and an exclusive piece of production art (see below) from his fright feature Home. Scripted by Eric Vespe (also a producer) and Matt Ward, the movie will showcase creatures and other horrific illusions designed by Richard Taylor of Weta FX in New Zealand, where the film will shoot.

Franck Ribiere and Verane Frediani of the acclaimed French gorefest Inside have come aboard the project as producers, as has Lord Of The Rings star Elijah Wood; Taylor is serving as an executive producer as well. “I can’t put into words how excited I am as a filmmaker and a horror fan by the team we’ve been able to put together on this project,” Morgan tells Fango. “We’re honored to have a master of his craft like Richard Taylor involved. Of course, our goal is to make this project...

Horror Film The Home Gets Producers and Artwork
Back in August we reported that Peter Jackson's special effects shop Weta had become attached to a small horror project called The Home. While writer/director Kristoffer Aaron Morgan is set to start shooting in New Zealand come spring, Bloody Disgusting tells us today that the project has secured a trio of new producers. The first two are the duo behind the French scare Inside, Franck Ribiere and Verane Frediani, which brings another horror/thriller element to the project. The third to join the team is none other than Elijah Wood, whose involvement is a bit quizzical, but acceptable. Bd also nabbed some pretty outstanding early art for the film, which definitely gives me the impression The Home is on the right foundation. Seriously, when was the last time you saw vacant-eyed dolls gnawing on an old woman? The artwork obviously depicts one of the nightmares preying upon the...

Franck and Verane are the duo behind the incredible French horror film Inside, which was release last April here in the States. Matt Ward co-scripted and Vespe is executive producing. "Our producers are Franck Ribiere and Verane Frediani, who produced that great French gore-fest Inside ," Vespe announces. "They have started a new production company called Overlook Entertainment and will be producing our movie under that banner. Franck and Verane have been fantastic so far and very supportive.
