The confirmed cast of the movie, so far, includes: Emma Mackey from Sex Education and Barbie; the former Bond, Daniel Craig; three-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep; and The Great Gatsby‘s Carey Mulligan (as reported by @CultureCrave on X). Country pop star Shania Twain will soon embark on her limited 2025 summer tour.

The set of performances will kick off at the Darien Lakes Amphitheater on July 19 in Buffalo, New York. Twain will continue to make stops in cities in nearby states such as Bangor, Maine, and Hershey Pennsylvania, before wrapping the tour at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida, on August 1.

Twain first announced her 2025 tour dates in early January. This tour follows her 2023 Queen of Me Tour, which included 70 stops across North America and Europe, as well as her Las Vegas residency, Shania Twain: Come on Over, which lasted over 70 performances.

A five-time Grammy winner, Twain has sold over 100 million records and is affectionately known as the “Queen of Country Pop.” She was adopted when she was six and raised in the Ojibwa Indian Culture. Her name means “I’m on my way” in Ojibway.

Last May, Netflix grabbed significant headlines and millions of viewers with The Roast of Tom Brady, a three-hour comedy event in which some of the industry’s top comics — including Kevin Hart and Nikki Glaser — brutally mocked the legendary NFL quarterback to his face.

The streamer will host a similar mockery this May with The Mark Twain Prize for American Humor: Celebrating Conan O'Brien. While some performers have canceled upcoming appearances and pledged not to return to the Kennedy Center amid Donald Trump‘s takeover, including stars like Whoopi Goldberg and Lin-Manuel Miranda, the 61-year-old comedian and former late night TV host accepted the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor on Sunday (March 23).

Conan was named the 26th recipient of the Mark Twain Prize back in January, weeks before Trump fired most of the institution’s board and replaced them with his own supporters to elect him as the new chairman.

On a night when half a dozen people made jokes about this being the last-ever Mark Twain Prize, Conan O’Brien made sure the ceremony at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts ended on a high note.

O’Brien accepted the award for lifetime achievement in comedy Sunday night while acknowledging the backstage turmoil that hangs over the future of the cultural center in Washington, D.C.

O’Brien, 61, was named the 26th recipient of the Mark Twain Prize in mid-January, about three weeks before President Donald Trump upended the Kennedy Center by ousting longtime president Deborah Rutter and board chairman David Rubenstein. Trump dismissed the board of trustees and replaced them with loyalists, who then elected him chairman.

On Sunday, O’Brien specifically thanked Rubenstein and Rutter — drawing an extended round of applause — and also Kennedy Center staffers who, he said, were “worried about what the future might bring.

As he presented the Mark Twain Prize to Conan O’Brien at the end of a ceremony at the Kennedy Center this evening, David Letterman said to the audience, “I’m not a historian, but I believe that history will show, in history for all time, this will have been the most entertaining gathering of the resistance, ever.”

Letterman was speaking to what was like an act of resistance, given that Donald Trump now controls the Kennedy Center, after ousting the president, firing board members to ensure loyalty and ensuring that he himself would be the chairman of the arts institution.

Throughout the evening, comedians tossed in quips at the situation in their comic roasting and heartfelt tributes to O’Brien.

The stage is set for the People’s Choice Country Awards 2024, which will honor the best in country music as chosen by fans.

Shania Twain will host the event live at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee.

Country artists Ashley Cooke, Bailey Zimmerman, Chase Rice, Cody Rhodes, Dasha, Orville Peck, Parker McCollum, Priscilla Block, Scotty McCreery, Shaboozey and Tanner Adell, wrestler Cody Rhodes, Today host Dylan Dreyer and actor/comedian Matt Rife will present awards and performances throughout the night.

The shows will start on Nov. 30 and conclude on Feb. 8, 2025.

Eilleen Regina “Shania” Twain hails from Ontario, Canada. With over 100 million records, she is one of the best-selling music artists of all time and the best-selling female artist in country music history ever. Her success has inspired the nickname “Queen of Country Pop.”

As we roll into fall, we’re starting to get trailers for the new and returning shows. The trailer for the new Ryan Murphy medical drama Doctor Odyssey is here, and we couldn’t be more excited. Okay, maybe we are a little more excited because Shania Twain will guest star.

“Twisters” director Lee Isaac Chung wanted to capture the spirit and culture of storm trackers, whose profession requires a great deal of time in cars and trucks.

“Everybody I talked to in Oklahoma who chases, music is such an integral part of it,” said Chung when he was a recent guest on IndieWire’s Toolkit podcast. “Anytime I’d ask, ‘What’s on your playlist?’ you’d see them break into a smile, and everybody has a different music choice.”

In the Chung household, there is a rule: Whoever is driving picks the music. On “Twisters,” director Chung drove the proverbial train, and the country music lover got to build his dream soundtrack. For a film that takes part mostly on dirt roads in rural areas of Oklahoma, with characters driving into storms when most sane people are headed in the other direction, an outlaw country music sound also made sense.
