For a format that was at risk of being obsolete during the advent of Prestige shows, sitcoms have been serving as the biggest pillars for Paramount on the small screen, thanks to Chuck Lorre and his creations. While Taylor Sheridan is responsible for keeping Paramount Plus afloat, on the broadcasting side, CBS is certainly doing pretty well for themselves.

The Big Bang Theory's upcoming spinoff gets an official title, which effectively confirms the show's official lead character. Despite the ongoing success of Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, Chuck Lorre is also pumping the gas in the development of the third spinoff in his comedy franchise that would take place years after the end of The Big Bang Theory. Reteaming with Bill Prady for the new show, the project will see the return of some familiar faces from the nerd-centric sitcom, as they become the new faces of the endeavor now that the story of the Pasadena gang is done.
Per Deadline, Lorre and Prady's The Big Bang Theory spinoff sequel is officially called Stuart Fails To Save The Universe. This confirms that Kevin Sussman's awkward but lovable comic book shop owner will be the face of the new comedy. Joining him is Lauren Lapkus, as Denise, Stuart's girlfriend,...

The Big Bang Theory universe is expanding once again, this time with a spinoff that puts an unlikely character in the spotlight. The project, ‘Stuart Fails to Save the Universe,’ is an upcoming series that follows the ever-unlucky comic book store owner, Stuart Bloom, played by Kevin Sussman.
True to its title, the show will throw Stuart into another series of unfortunate and probably hilarious circumstances, proving that his luck isn’t improving soon. The series, currently in development at Warner Bros. Television, brings back the creative minds behind the ever-growing Big Bang Theory franchise, ensuring that fans are in for another round of nerdy, comedic misadventures.

The first spin-off of "The Big Bang Theory" that, by all accounts, isn't a prequel is starting to take shape. "Stuart Fails To Save The Universe," which got a title announcement on Wednesday, March 19, will eventually flesh out the ever-expanding universe of "The Big Bang Theory," which already saw a spin-off in "Young Sheldon".
To be honest, there's still a lot we don't know about "Stuart Fails To Save The Universe." There aren't, as of this writing, any major plot specifics floating around, and outside of a few "Big Bang Theory" cast members returning to their roles for this new project, we don't know who else will be joining the party. Still, let's forge ahead with what we do know, including where "Stuart Fails To Save The Universe" will air, who's coming back, and who's part of the creative team.

The highly anticipated Big Bang Theory spinoff is keeping its premise under wraps — but now we know that it will most definitely center on Kevin Sussman’s luckless comic book store owner, Stuart Bloom.
As our sister site Deadline was first to report, the Max sequel series will be titled… Stuart Fails to Save the Universe. Sussman will reprise his titular role, opposite fellow franchise vets John Ross Bowie (Barry Kripke), Lauren Lapkus (Denise) and Brian Posehn (Bert).

Exclusive: The Big Bang Theory spinoff on Max is untitled no more — and it’s good news and bad news for Kevin Sussman’s Stuart Bloom character.
The series, which remains in development, will be titled Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, Deadline has learned. That puts Stuart at the center of the offshoot but also hints that the beloved sidekick, who could never quite catch a break on Big Bang, might not have better luck on his own.
Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, from Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, extends the trend of every Big Bang Theory spinoff being named after its main character(s), following in the footsteps of Young Sheldon and its offshoot Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.

Developing a Western in 2024 carries the baggage of a historical genre. So many directors have found ways to explore complex themes within the confines of the American West that coming across an original story in this space is rare. Yet this is precisely what drew Erin Moriarty to the directorial debut of Stuart Gatt, Catching Dust, which opens on August 23.
As the two couples work out their differences against the backdrop of the frontier, their lies and pain come to light. Gatt’s debut features Moriarity as Geena – a young woman looking to understand herself in the face of total isolation. Moriarity and Gatt spoke to FandomWire about the experience of making Catching Dust and how to capture the emotion of the genre.
Gatt wanted to explore isolation and the desert.
Westerns were not traditionally the kind of movies Gatt made. “I just made my last short about the Libyan refugee crisis.

Erin Moriarty plays a woman longing for freedom from a controlling husband in Catching Dust. When the pair get unexpected visitors, dark truths are revealed. Erin Moriarty and Jai Courtney shine as complex characters in a Western thriller that challenges existing expectations. Director Stuart Gatt expertly navigates themes of loneliness and resentment with bold storytelling risks.
Catching Dust is a tense and tightly crafted thriller that keeps the viewer on bated breath. In it, an abused woman trapped by a controlling husband in a remote desert landscape seeks a path to freedom through unexpected visitors. The film addresses domestic violence, spousal conflict, and hidden agendas with a layered methodology that yields surprising and uncomfortable truths. The wide open, barren exterior is beautifully juxtaposed against tight spaces, forcing a volatile collision with sophisticated characters searching for any semblance of happiness. A wild climax and equally fascinating ending may be far-fetched, but...

Stuart actor Kevin Sussman explains how The Big Bang Theory being on streaming platforms changes how he gets paid. As the SAG-AFTRA strike reaches its first week, more actors come out not just to join the protests on the streets, but also to share their personal experiences concerning the matters being discussed. This way, the public gets a better understanding of what is at stake and why a strike is desperately needed to ensure that everyone can earn a decent living working in Hollywood. That includes Sussman, who was on The Big Bang Theory for 11 out of its 12 seasons.
Speaking to Deadline in light of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA dual strikes, the actor discusses the discrepancy between the residuals he gets from the nerd-centric sitcom depending on whether it was on broadcast network re-runs or streaming platforms. Read his full quote below:
“For me the big issue is residuals for streaming.

The hot topic on this week’s Hijack was the prospect of the plane getting to land early — and those on board in turn possibly being rescued. But who surprisingly helped hit the brakes on that idea?
Sam’s mind was extra-sharp in the immediate wake of Lewis’ life just barely being saved by a field thoracostomy. For one, he picked up on the fact that Lewis told Stuart he had spoken to “Mum” (not “my mum”), revealing that the two were brothers. The original The Big Bang Theory pilot featured an even more repulsive Sheldon Cooper. Jim Parsons' iconic sitcom role was at the center of the CBS comedy for 12 years. While The Big Bang Theory was technically an ensemble show, it became increasingly clear over the years that its true lead was the socially-inept genius. He was usually the focus of every main arc, and in the rare times that he wasn't, he was still integral to the whole storyline, either as a plot catalyst or comedic source. The Big Bang Theory season 12 was the biggest proof of this as the show's final year was mostly about him.
When Parsons decided to leave the show, everyone agreed that it was better to end it instead of continuing without Sheldon. It's not difficult to understand why Sheldon was The Big Bang Theory's main character. He stood out from an already awkward group thanks to his idiosyncrasies.

Past the halfway mark already, Hijack is getting ready to enter the third act of the limited 7-episode series. The new episode serves as a bridge between the exposition and the climax and, hence, is the weakest in the series in terms of the thrills you’d expect. It felt like the episode had the burden of explaining a lot about the hijackers and their intentions, removing the veil from the mysterious criminals. The most annoying part, though, is how the actors seem to sacrifice their characters’ traits so quickly in this episode for their dialogues, which lose their organicity pretty quickly. The circumstances of the episode leave Idris Elba’s character Sam Nelson running back and forth, trying to make changes to his strategies. The secrets about the deaths that occurred in the previous episodes aren’t revealed in toto, but we get the hint that whoever the hijackers...

The terrorists in Hijack are revealed to be using blanks instead of real bullets in episode 3 "Draw A Blank". As the episode title implies, the five supposedly armed hijackers are wielding real guns on Kingdom Flight 29 but specifically loaded them only with blank bullets. While blanks can still be dangerous and even lethal in some instances, the lack of actual bullets in the terrorists' weapons exposes a major vulnerability in their hijacking plans. Surprisingly, the terrorists have hardly used violence to take control of the plane thus far, but that intention might not sustain throughout the four remaining episodes of Hijack.
After three episodes of Hijack, the primary objective of the terrorists still remains unclear. The fact that they didn't initially load the guns with real bullets hints that their undisclosed mission does not involve hurting or killing anyone unless it is absolutely essential. Stv has confirmed the acquisition of Lego Masters firm Greenbird Media, following Deadline’s exclusive report yesterday in the UK.
The Scottish network’s production arm, Stv Studios, has paid an initial £21.4M ($27.2M) for the company, whose assets include majority stakes in Lego Masters maker Tuesday’s Child Television and Crackit Productions. Israel’s Keshet International was previously the majority owner, with a 60% stake.
Yesterday, we told you Stv was nearing a deal for Greenbird, whose sale has been in the works since last year.
The deal boosts the number of labels within Stv Studios from nine to 24, as it aims to become the UK’s top producer from outside of London — a sector known within the country’s TV sector as the nations and regions. Stv will get new bases in Glasgow and London, and offices in Cardiff, Belfast, Brighton and Manchester.

Black Mirror has been entertaining people for six seasons with its strange mix of future technology, morality tales, and sheer weirdness. It is the spiritual successor to shows like The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits but has been perfectly crafted for modern audiences.
Creator Charlie Brooker has given us a few scares, but this season, his second episode, Loch Henry, may be the scariest horror of the summer.
How Black Mirror Scared Us Before
There have been a number of frightening episodes of Black Mirror over the course of the last five seasons. White Bear was the first, showing us how a convicted murderer is meant to live out a horrible day only to be watched by tourists and have her brain wiped to do it all again.
Shut Up and Dance was another. In this, a young man is blackmailed after being taped touching himself to illegal videos.

Warning: This article contains Spoilers for Hijack episodes 1 & 2.
The first two episodes of Apple's new thriller series Hijack leave many viewers wondering why Idris Elba's Sam is helping the plane's hijackers. It is revealed by the end of the first episode that Sam is a highly-skilled negotiator who specializes in closing major business deals as a third-party service. Even with the knowledge that the mysterious Sam is likely up to a psychological scheme, the question still remains of how he will be able to persuade four armed hijackers that he is somehow on their side in their act of terrorism.
Episodes 1 and 2 of Hijack have yet to dive into the reasons why the hijack is taking place, which adds to the suspense and uncertainty of the seven-episode miniseries. There are clearly good and bad players in the extensive list of cast and characters in Hijack, although it is...

So, will they try to contact the authorities? Episode 2 of Hijack takes things up a notch. Here’s how.

Personally speaking, there hasn’t really been any character in a film or series that Idris Elba couldn’t pull off. Be it a genie, a detective, or a villainous cyborg, Idris’s on-screen presence, in whatever form he takes, is very strong. In Hijack, we find him on a plane that is hijacked. But who is he? How will he be able to subvert the schemes of the hijackers? This is a game of patience and skillful thinking. Hijack Episode 1 is just the beginning of a very long flight.

Sylvia is without a job. She has no idea how she will face Charlie. And the fact that she was sacked because she ruined her boss’s painting sounds ridiculous, although it is supposed to be serious. One cannot really wrap their head around how to react to such an incident because there are only so many people who are or have been fired because they accidentally tore up their boss’s portrait. Even Mr. Bean managed to get out of the situation. But then again, not everyone can be Bean. Most of us are just beans. Episode 8 of Platonic shows how Sylvia deals with her issue. Meanwhile, Lucky Penny Brewing is about to finalize its deal with Johnny 66. How will that turn out?

Were it not for, you know, its terror-at-35,000-feet concept, Apple TV+’s Hijack would be the TV equivalent of a classic plane read: slick, exciting, unfussy. As it stands, it’s ideal for a lazy weekend planted firmly on the couch. Creators George Kay (Lupin) and Jim Field Smith (Litvinenko) may not be pushing the bounds of the medium, nor is star Idris Elba elevating his craft to new heights. But there’s something to be said for a show that knows exactly what it wants to be, and pulls it off without pretension.
Its premise is as straightforward as its title. Unfolding in real time, 24-style, the seven-hour miniseries chronicles a seven-hour flight from Dubai to London. By the end of the first chapter, a small group of nefarious agents, led by the sneering Stuart (Neil Maskell), have taken control of the plane. Over the next six, the...

Idris Elba flies the unfriendly skies in a gripping Apple TV+ thriller that unfolds in real time. Hijack takes primarily place aboard a Kingdom Airlines A330 flight from Dubai to London. But we also see events in both cities as officials on the ground scramble to understand what's happening. An ordinary passage becomes terrifying as mysterious assailants commandeer the plane. A wily protagonist tries to ingratiate himself to the captors while subverting their plans. That's no easy task when frightened passengers act foolishly. It's a white-knuckle game of deception with lethal consequences. The two-episode premiere, "Final Call" and "3 Degrees," masterfully builds and sustains tension.
Sam Nelson (Elba) races through the Dubai airport while texting his separated wife. Marsha (Christine Adams) warns him not to come home. She's already moved on with Daniel (Max Beesley), a policeman laying in bed beside her. Sam replies "too late" as he boards KA29 to London.

Director Joe Lynch‘s (Wrong Turn 2, Mayhem, “Creepshow”) new movie Suitable Flesh, based on H.P. Lovecraft’s The Thing On The Doorstep, unleashed body-hopping madness last week at the Tribeca Film Festival, ahead of its theatrical release later this year from Rlje Films.
Barbara Crampton stars in Suitable Flesh, executive produced by Brian Yuzna (Re-Animator). Dennis Paoli, the writer of Re-Animator and From Beyond, wrote the script.
Joe Lynch and the late Stuart Gordon’s frequent collaborators seamlessly insert Suitable Flesh into Gordon’s Lovecraftian universe (our review). Bloody Disgusting spoke with the filmmaker at Tribeca, where he teased the Lovecraft connections for Gordon’s fans and the advice Brian Yuzna gave him when making the film.

Warning: The following contains Spoilers for Black Mirror season 6.
Black Mirror season 6, episode 2 "Loch Henry" features a realistic killer named Iain Adair, and it's fair to ask whether or not he's based on a real person. Although the character only briefly appears in the episode on the front page of a newspaper and in dramatic reenactments, he becomes the central figure in the mystery that unfolds throughout "Loch Henry". Davis and Pia, romantic partners who share a passion for filmmaking, visit their mother in Scotland with the intention of shooting a nature documentary about a local man who collects rare eggs.
After they link up with Stuart, Pia and Davis get drawn into the story of the infamous murders that took place in the small Scottish town decades before. Pia convinces Davis that they should drop their egg collector idea and decide to make a film about the murderer Iain Adair instead.

The League is a raunchy sitcom about a fantasy football league that features a talented cast and several dynamic characters. The show follows six friends whose obsession with their fantasy football league leads them to make each other’s lives miserable. Accessible for outsiders to the game, The League finds success in blending the comedy of everyday life matters, such as romance and work, with the hyper-competitiveness, as Pete, Ruxin, Jenny, Andre, Kevin and Taco strive to claim the coveted Shiva trophy.
A semi-improvised show, The League is among FX’s most highly rated series, owing much of its success to the energetic chemistry and inventive minds of its central cast. While the show ended in 2018, star Mark Duplass has expressed his openness to returning to The League, and many of the show’s stars have continued to work together in subsequent projects. A combination season finale and anniversary episode should have had a little bit more oomph to it.
Still, FBI Season 5 Episode 23 was an enjoyable blend of a suspenseful case continually interrupted by two agents' medical drama.
But that's FBI for you, which has been balancing the procedural and personal for 100 episodes.
Often, the action tilts toward the procedural, which was the situation again this week. And, to allow time for Scola and Nina's baby drama, the case came together a little too simply.
When a hotshot surgeon was killed and posed Criminal Minds-style, that just screamed serial killer.
And it took, what, a few hours to prove that to be the case when a respected military officer turned up murdered in precisely the same sicko way.
Maggie and Oa barely had time to unpack the first red herring before the second murder happened while the person of interest was still in the interrogation room.

Stuart Ford may have been named Variety’s Billion Dollar Producer, but the AGC Studios founder is already looking ahead to his next big milestone.
“We’ve raised more than $1.5 billion in production financing [over the last 17 years] and, the way our cinema business is evolving, who knows, in three or four years from now, I might be standing in front of you having achieved $1.05 billion at the box office!” said Ford.
The executive was feted by Variety at a May 19 cocktail reception in Cannes. Many of the super-producer’s business associates and partners, as well as industry friends, dropped by the Croisette villa to toast Ford, who was given the honor by Variety’s co-editor in chief Ramin Setoodeh.

Forty-nine years ago, a front-page headline in Nashville’s Tennessean proclaimed “Marty’s a Mandolin Pro at 15,” heralding Marty Stuart’s teenaged role in Lester Flatt’s late-period band Nashville Grass. Warning: This article contains Spoilers for The Diplomat
The climactic ending of The Diplomat season 1 created some potential explosive theories for what will happen in season 2. Kate and Dennison's discovery about Trowbridge potentially planning the missile attack on the Hms Courageous left many questions that season 2 must answer. It is still unclear which characters will be returning for The Diplomat season 2, and whether Hal, Stuart, and Ronnie are still alive. Kate and Dennison will certainly return to figure out how to deal with Trowbridge and the deceptive Margaret Roylin, who is likely to return as Trowbridge's closest confidant.
Hal was far enough away from the car explosion that killed Merritt Grove to make his survival plausible in The Diplomat season 2. In this case, one of the first decisions Kate must make is whether to tell Hal what she and Dennison found out about Trowbridge. If she did, Hal could help...
