Exclusive: BET+ and MegaMind Media are collaborating on the true crime biopic Fighting To Be Me: The Dwen Curry Story, starring Dyllón Burnside (Pose), D.B. Woodside (9-1-1: Lone Star) and A.J. Johnson (Baby Boy). Curry was first featured in the BET+ hit unscripted series American Gangster: Trap Queens.
From writer La Jill Hunt, the biopic is based on the real-life story of Dwen Curry, born amid the infamous Detroit riots of the late sixties, and raised during the height of the eighties crack cocaine epidemic. The true crime drama tackles the topics of love and identity while diving into Curry’s complex life experiences as a gay celebrity stylist in Oakland who secretly financed a lavish lifestyle by fraudulently acquiring millions to build a criminal empire and survive the violent street lifestyle.

Exclusive: The new BET+ Original film The Deadly Getaway is set to premiere on May 9. The MegaMind Media-produced thriller stars Jason Weaver, Yandy Smith, Jeff Logan and Princess Love.
The Deadly Getaway tells the story of an upwardly mobile couple traveling to a glamorous campsite destination for a romantic weekend getaway that quickly turns nightmarish. Jacob (Weaver) plans to propose to his girlfriend of two years, Hope (Smith), but the arrival of her obsessive ex-boyfriend, Derrick (Logan), and his girlfriend, Jada (Tressa Azarel Smallwood) complicates things.
Tensions and jealousy mount as Derrick becomes inappropriate with his flirtations. Things get even worse when the owners of the Away Pod go missing and Hope discovers Derrick has a dark secret he’s keeping from them all. Wanted by the police for a botched robbery and murder, there’s nothing Derrick won’t do to protect his secret even if it means killing his precious Hope.

Wicked City is returning for a third season. The supernatural drama, co-created by Kristin Iris Johnson and Serena M. Lee, has been renewed by the Allblk streaming service two months after the second season finale aired on December 7th.
Starring Vanessa Bell Calloway, Shaquita Smith, Gary Sturgis, Chantel Maurice, and Chanel Mack, the Wicked City series follows five urban witches who have pushed their powers to the limit.
