Tess (Teresa) McGowan is a screenwriter and game writer from Derry, Northern Ireland. She is a former journalist and newspaper editor.
Her debut feature film, A Bump Along the Way, had its world premiere at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival. It won several awards at film festivals including Best New Irish Feature at the Galway Film Festival.
Tess was nominated for the 2019 Discovery Award at the British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) along with director, Shelly Love, and producer, Louise Gallagher. Tess was long-listed for a 2019 BIFA for Best Original Screenplay and was nominated for the 2020 Writers' Guild of Ireland's ZeBbie Award for Best Feature Film.
Tess wrote for the mobile story-led game, Switchcraft, which was nominated for Best Dialogue and Best Representation at the 2022 Global Industry Game Awards.
