Derrick Mullen

Derrick Mullen is an independent filmmaker, Director, Producer and co-founder of Fruit Bearing Studios. Originally from Ft. Lauderdale, FL. In 1995, he relocated to Atlanta, GA, where a career with Blockbuster Inc. led him to work across multiple cities including Charlotte and St. Louis. His time in the retail film industry planted a lasting passion for storytelling and ignited his journey into the world of visual production. Drawn to the behind-the-scenes magic of filmmaking, Derrick developed his craft as a freelance Photographer and Videographer eventually stepping behind the camera to direct and produce narrative film projects. In 2010, he connected with Christian playwright Kyria Williams, a pivotal relationship that inspired their first independent film collaboration, The Wake Up Call. The film, which Derrick filmed, directed, edited, and co-produced, was selected by multiple film festivals and won "Best Faith-Based Film" from Church Stars Network.
