The trend of creator entrepreneurship has reached Shark Tank. On the long-running U.S. version of the fundraising program, influencer power couple Alix Traeger and Zoya Biglary received an offer for their sustainable seafood alternative Fysh Foods.
Traeger and Biglary’s product attempts to recreate the taste, appearance, and texture of sushi-grade fish without incorporating any animal products. The ultimate goal is to give diners the tastes they enjoy while protecting them from contaminated oceans and harmful fishing practices. Fysh Food’s plant-based eats have already been used in some Los Angeles-area restaurants, where the company’s founding duo has been based for more than a decade.

CAA has signed Alix Traeger, the popular food and lifestyle content creator, for representation.
Traeger began her career working for Tasty, the Buzzfeed brand dedicated to food coverage with an emphasis on video. She began at the company in 2016 as an intern, and eventually rose to a lead producer and host role, working on brand franchises including “I Draw, You Cook,” “Eat Your Screen,” “Can You Follow a Recipe in a Different Language?,” “Behind Tasty” and “Make it Fancy.”
Traeger became a breakout name among Tasty talent, and left the brand to become an independent content creator in 2019. Though she continued to producing content for Tasty on a freelance bases, Traeger now develops and and publishes recipes while producing social media content centered on food and lifestyle.
Along with her girlfriend Zoya Biglary, Traeger now serves as host of “Star Dish,” a series on Gordon Ramsay and Fox’s digital network Bite.

BuzzFeed-owned food vertical Tasty is adding to its Talent Program -- a program launched in 2018 that sees noted chefs, restaurateurs, and homegrown digital stars creating new and existing content formats.
The latest additions to the program include Ellen Bennett, the CEO of culinary workwear brand Hedley & Bennett; Mexican restaurateur Esdras Ochoa, who recently appeared on Netflix’s competition series The Final Table; and Joe Sasto, a top-three finisher on the reality competition Top Chef. Tasty has also signed three of its in-house producers: Alvin Zhou (the mastermind behind Making It Big), Inga Lam, and Merle O’Neal (How To Regrow Fruit From Your Kitchen). The Tasty Talent Program will continue to be led by executive chef-in-residence Marcus Samuelsson.
