She was the first Clara in Baryshnikov's 1976 stage production of "The Nutcracker", before being replaced in the role in 1977 by Gelsey Kirkland. Ms. Kirkland then went on to star with Baryshnikov in the 1977 telecast of the ballet, which remains popular to this day.
