The Indian arm of Sony is planning to produce local content that has the potential to travel globally.
Speaking at Singapore’s Asia TV Forum and Market on Friday, Vivek Krishnani, MD at Sony Pictures Entertainment Films India, said: “We are strongly focusing on creating Indian IPs, which can crossover into the mainstream and therefore, to that extent, some of the content that we’re creating for certain Ott [streaming] platforms, does have the ability to appeal to audiences, not just Indian audiences, but audiences across geographies.”
“That’s where the next leap has to come from [for] Indian content creation, because you have to be able to be a player in the global platform, you have to create content like how, for example, you’ve seen Korean content now dominate the world,” Krishnani said. “Why can’t content from India do the same thing? Grown adults behave like horny kids in this ill-judged comedy, meant to start discussion about contraception in India
The eyebrow-raising title is intentional: Satramm Ramani’s comedy has been fashioned after 2017’s Toilet: A Love Story and 2018’s Pad Man, Hindi films designed to initiate conversations around subjects deemed taboo in 21st-century India. The national reticence addressed in this case is condom use: an urgent matter, given the country’s explosive population growth and Std rates. Ramani’s cheerfully flimsy farce means to be to the India of 2021 what Madness’s House of Fun video was to 1980s Britain, with its nudging innuendo and nervy approaches to the pharmacist. Yet the film’s leads aren’t red-faced teens, but 30-plus. The problem being dramatised is clear, but one of Helmet’s weaknesses is that it demands we watch grown adults behaving like dumb, horny kids.
The national conversation is summarised by a prologue,...

“Pyar ho gaya hai mujhe usse, jise mein kabhi mila hi nahin”: the trigger line of Salman Khan Films new movie Notebook starring Zaheer Iqbal and Pranutan Bahl. Even though this is only 15 seconds into an enthralling trailer, there can be no doubt that this is a very strange love story indeed. Kabir and Firdaus will find themselves in a written love story which seems to start and end in a notebook. Yet in the very words of this notebook there is the essence of love, “Mujhe tumse pyar karne ke liye koi waja ki zaroorat hi nahin”. Vishal Mishra is tasked with giving music to these words, which is both a simple thing and an impossible one. Its simple because Bollywood has been putting these sorts of words to song since inception, but the difficulty comes in that the story must be told from 2 sides, possibly never to...

National award-winning filmmaker Nitin Kakkar's next, titled Notebook, starring Pranutan Bahl and Zaheer Iqbal is all set to release this Friday (29th March).
As refreshing as the trailer, the film too offers a very unique and unconventional love story. The music of the film is by Vishal Mishra and is already topping charts. Film producer Murad Khetani says, ?It is a trendy yet different love story. The basic premise attracted us to the film ? can you fall in love with someone you?ve never met? The thought is very novel, but what was more exciting is the manner in which the story progresses".
Producer Ashwin Varde adds, ?We have always seen the usual boy-meets-girl kind of conventional love stories. But what happens when the boy never meets the girl? Can love still happen? Notebook tells you that it can. And it shows you how in the most beautiful manner.

Salman Khan has a few songs to his credit and now one more song has been added to that list and it is brilliant. The superstar has lent his voice for a song titled Main Taare from his upcoming production, Notebook. The film will see the launch of two new actors in Bollywood – Pranutan Bahl and Zaheer Iqbal. While Zaheer is Salman’s friend’s son, Pranutan is the granddaughter of late actor Nutan and the daughter of actor Mohnish Bahl.
Written by Manoj Muntashir, Main Taare has been composed by Vishal Mishra.
When brainstorming for a singer to sing the romantic song Main Taare for the film, the Notebook team thought that Salman Khan would be the perfect fit and we have to say they were right!

Bollywood actor Salman Khan?s fans have yet another reason to rejoice. In his next home production Notebook, which releases on the 29th of March, the superstar has not just done a promotional video but he has also sung the most romantic song of the film ?Main Taare?.
The song ?Main Taare? comes in the film at a very crucial point - when the lead protagonist Kabir (Zaheer Iqbal) realises that he has fallen in love with a girl (Pranutan Bahl) he has never seen or met. ?This is one of the most significant points in the film and that?s why the song is so important,? says director Nitin Kakkar. Kakkar and music composer Vishal Mishra felt that Salman?s voice would take the song to a different level and add a new dimension to it. That?s when they approached him and they were thrilled with the results.
