Daredevil Musthafa: This film builds up every trope around Muslims, breaks all
Image
ReviewThe film, based on litterateur and humanist Poornachandra Tejaswi’s short story, is a wholesome, precious watch in today’s world filled with division and hate.Sometime in 1973, when the world in retrospect seems way better than it was today, Poornachandra Tejaswi wrote a short story about a Muslim boy entering a Hindu-only government college in a place called Abachur. 'Ikkat' review: Nagabhushana and Bhoomi Shetty impress in relatable comedy
Image
Sandalwood The film is about a bickering, middle-class couple who are stuck together during the lockdown.Sanjana DeshpandeAmazon Prime VideoThe Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society author Mary Ann Shaffer once said, “Humour is the best way to make unbearable bearable.” The director-duo Esham and Haseen Khan’s film Ikkat is the embodiment of the quote. While the film is sure to give you a hearty laugh throughout the two-hour running time, the moment that remains etched in my mind is when Nagabhushana’s Vasu, who’s always nagging his wife, counting her shortcomings and bickering with her, stands by her when his distant relative (Sunder) slanders Bhoomi Shetty’s Janvi. Janvi and Vasu are a typical middle-class couple who live in a...
