Warning: Spoilers for Manifest season 4 part 2

Surprisingly, the Manifest series finale ended on yet another Captain Daly mystery. Though far from a major character in the series, the Flight 828 pilot has been the subject of several questions in the drama series. Played by Frank Deal, Captain Bill Daly has inadvertently helped both the passengers and the viewers understand more about the bigger picture in the series.

Manifest had much to resolve going into season 4, especially in regards to Daly. Long after disappearing into a second storm with Fiona, Daly returned for a brief moment in the season 3 finale before vanishing for a third time. Manifest succeeded in making sense of this by revealing that Daly and Fiona were trapped within the divine consciousness. As for his season 3 finale cameo, it seems Daly accidentally tagged along with Cal when he returned home. What happened to him after that was finally cleared...

Jared and Michaela are reigniting their relationship and enjoying life away from the detention center as Netflix’s Manifest season four episode 16 opens. With Michaela’s dad resting peacefully upstairs, the couple get to know each other’s naked bodies once again.

The following morning, Jared (J.R. Ramirez) returns from grocery shopping with plenty of supplies to make grilled cheese – one of Michaela’s favorites – and wonders how long they need to remain hidden. The detention center must be tracking Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh), so they can’t even make any phone calls.

Back at the detention center, Ben (Josh Dallas) is convinced everyone’s going to die, and it’s all his fault. He accidentally stopped the 828ers from receiving callings once he injected Angelina with Saanvi’s serum. Vance (Daryl Edwards) insists Ben had no way of knowing the callings would disappear.

Bill Daly’s blood has apparently turned the Hudson River red outside of the 828 detention center as Netflix’s Manifest season four episode 15 opens. The mood among NY citizens is darkening with this new development, and more people are turning against the 828ers since they appear to be the cause of multiple plagues.

The passengers holed up in the safe house wonder if they need to find a new place to hide out. Co-captain Daniel Amuta (Leajato Amara Robinson) is in charge, and he orders his fellow 828ers to get ready to hunker down. “The city’s a powder keg,” says Amuta.

Ben (Josh Dallas) is certain that having Angelina locked up at the center is a horrible idea. He suggests that Director Zimmer consider using Saanvi’s calling-suppressing serum on Angelina, but Zimmer claims that holding Angelina in isolation is enough.

Netflix’s Manifest season four episode 14 picks up with Olive (Luna Blaise) taking the blame for failing to keep Fiona alive since her death happened on her watch. Cal (Ty Doran) also takes the blame since he brought Fiona home, and since he believed the straw was securely in place in her lung.

Ben (Josh Dallas) has a very brief calling and sees blood covering his hands and Bill Daly staring back at him in the mirror.

Jared (J.R. Ramirez) and Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh) have an awkward moment discussing their “almost” kiss. Strained moment aside, Jared reveals that a cop spotted Angelina in Missouri. Michaela had no idea she survived the church fire, and Jared assures her he’ll keep her in the loop if there are any updates.

Zeke (Matt Long) visits Michaela after Jared leaves,...

The mysterious figure in the barn turns out to be Fiona Clarke (seat 23B), and Cal (Ty Doran) brings her back to the Stone house as Netflix’s Manifest season four episode 13 gets underway. It appears Fiona’s trapped in a calling and is so zoned out that Cal and Olive (Luna Blaise) can’t get any answers out of her.

Olive visits Ben (Josh Dallas) and uses code words to inform him they’ve located the missing Fiona Clarke and that she’s currently on the couch at home. Ben reveals Bill Daly is in the detention center but also isn’t able to talk.

Ben shows Olive a dead grasshopper and says the place is infested with them. Olive corrects him and quotes her grandmother, “May a plague of locusts fall upon you.

Angelina’s hanging out among unhoused families as Netflix’s Manifest season four episode 12 begins. She’s made friends with a young girl and shows off her scarred hand, explaining it’s so special that God even made it glow just yesterday.

Angelina (Holly Taylor) believes God needs her to prepare for the day of judgment.

Ben’s dad, Steve, helps fix a sink while Cal (Ty Doran) watches. Cal’s sorry Steve had to go back to work to help support them, and he hates that he can’t get a job for fear of being discovered. Steve assures him it’s okay and that he needs to keep being careful.

Michaela (Melissa Roxburgh) is having a horrible day, and a visit from Zeke (from the glow) is the only thing that brightens up her mood.

Manifest Season 4 Quietly Created Another Captain Daly Mystery
Image
Yet another Captain Daly mystery was created in Manifest season 4, part 1. Played by Frank Deal, the Flight 828 pilot was the focus of two of the show’s biggest unanswered questions going into Manifest’s fourth and final season. Within just a few episodes, both of these mysteries were finally addressed.

Although a minor character in the series, Bill Daly has been subjected to a great deal of intrigue in the series. It all started in season 1 when Daly and Fiona disappeared into another dark lightning storm, seemingly recreating the vanishing of Flight 828. Then in the season 3 finale, Daly returned – wearing different clothes – in the cockpit of the plane wreckage stored at the Eureka facility. How these things happened was finally cleared up in Manifest season 4 when the passengers finally developed a thorough understanding of their situation. It would seem that Captain Daly returned to the divine consciousness in season...
